"A minute of silence" by Artist Marina Abramovic

Фильм және анимация

Artist Marina Abramovic was doing a live art performance that consisted of spending one minute of silence with a complete stranger. Many people showed up, but her response to one person in particular gave me the goosebumps, and you’ll soon see why.
At the 1:30 mark, Ulay, her former lover for many years sits down across from her. Marina and Ulay broke up more than 30 years ago and this is the first time that they have seen each other again since then.
This was obviously an emotional and shocking moment for her, and as you can see, she tries to carry on until the end, but seems almost unable to. I was fighting back tears myself with this one. This is really beautiful.
Music by "How I became the Bomb - Ulay, Oh"

Passion in the eyes where words can’t dwell. To fasten what you feel like, under a curse I fell. Just sat in my mind with a look like a spell. One minute with no words but your eyes can tell. Some give more than needed but we’ve been to hell. Goodbye again loved one, you have tears to sell.

This is by far the most beautiful thing on the internet to date. The artistic level expressing the depth of love is beyond. After 40 years that love existed just the same. I adore the instant acknowledgment, the expression, and the silence which put them in tears, the fact he tried to hide his emotion with his head nods, and she felt it all. Also the fact that she felt that depth and had to show it to the next person in there minute of silence. The metaphor of this entire exchange is wild. Watch it over and over and understand the different levels. It’s like an onion peeling back the emotional layers. I felt this to my core and appreciate the artist sharing this vulnerability with all of us.

While your explanation is very on-point, what I truly love about this moment is that it perfectly captures why words / language is wholly incapable of describing things like emotions fully. With real emotions you just know, and you can see it in others and also know through them, yet not fully understand it logically or put it into words that would be able to transmit the emotion.

I really do wish you guys could see this game for what it is, because it's a bit sad watching you guys idolize someone like this, for something like this. This is probably not your first indication that you're part of a twisted cult but it's definitely a powerful one. ...snap out of it, you don't have all that much time left to do so, and I'm being dead serious. -sigh-

It's like this involuntary weeping that occurs the moment you connect with the pain of your own past Loves lost; it's the quickening of her breath, the widening & watering of her eyes, and then ultimately the desperate acceptance in her expression as he gets up... and walks away. Closing her eyes - she tries to hold on to the image of him in her head... sadness suddenly veiling across her face as she reluctantly accepts that the moment has passed. #fcknlove

I've seen this video several times and each time I watch it I get so emotional and teary-eyed. You can just see and feel the deep emotion when they see each other after so many years have past. It reminds me of the one and only love of my life that I lost 30+ years ago (my own fault). If I had the chance to sit across from him for just a few minutes and look into his eyes, I would probably lose it. Mike will always and forever be in my heart.

When I was younger and dumber I once thought it strange that my uncle to whom I was very close should remarry after his first marriage had ended badly. So I had asked mom, "but uncle's so old! (he was 47, and back then for 14 years old me, everyone above 20 was 'old') how can he fall in love again?" My mother rebuked me, saying, "don't be a fool; everyone becomes young again when you're around love." The changes of expression in the face of Marina Abramovic & Ulay starting in 1:41, the sudden yet subtle smile, awkward but serene gaze, and irresistible tears-those made me understand exactly what my mom said many years ago.

Also why does it have to be salty? The music and camera’s with the theme “retrospective” created a big impact on the video itself, specifically, those things mentioned made the ambiance and the emotions of the couple be highlighted. “A minute of silence” implies that there are feelings and emotions that do not need to used words in order to be express. It reminds me of the lyrics in one of the song of Ronan Keating saying “ You say it best, when you say nothing at all”.

a powerful moment. not just a former lover but a former creative collaborator with whom she shared life-risking art performances. sadly, adding the song dilutes it into hollywood-pop-lite. being present in such a raw, vulnerable moment - as with all the others who sat with Marina for one minute of silence - is more boundless and courageous when the soundtrack is the simple, uncluttered acoustics of the room, the breathing, the shuffling crowd, the catch of your throat in the act of swallowing. this is so much better if you turn the sound off.

Wikipedia: In November 2015, Ulay took Abramović to court, claiming she had paid him insufficient royalties according to the terms of a 1999 contract covering sales of their joint works.[18][19] In September 2016, a Dutch court ordered Abramović to pay €250,000 to Ulay as his share of sales of artistic collaborations over their joint works. In its ruling, the court in Amsterdam found that Ulay was entitled to royalties of 20% net on the sales of their works, as specified in the original 1999 contract, and ordered Abramović to backdate royalties of more than €250,000, as well as more than €23,000 in legal costs.[20] Additionally, she was ordered to provide full accreditation to joint works listed as by "Ulay/Abramović" covering the period from 1976 to 1980, and "Abramović/Ulay" for those from 1981 to 1988.

This is exactly how I feel. I just lost the love of my life for what I fear is the final time. We've been going on and off since September. I've never been so in love or wanted anything more than I want a life with this girl. I would give my own life to have the life I though I'd finally get with her. I will always regret this. I will always regret not being farther along in my growth when I was faced with a love like this. I wasn't ready, but I was getting ready fast and sometimes that's not enough. I feel like this was the most cosmic prank the universe could have pulled. Why couldn't I have been better for her. I will have this regret until the day I die and frankly I can't wait. This reminds me a lot of myself because even if I was to be seated in front of her like this in 50 years , I'd feel the exact same. I'd break down instantly. This is the absolute hardest day of my life, and there are 40-50 more years of waking up to this same day

This live Art Performance by Marina Abramovic makes me feel dumps about the dept love and reactions of the two of them, even though they only use eye contact I still feel the emotions. Their response to each other makes us surprise and curious. In doing this activity they use back ground music ,lights to make them focus and objects( chairs and table) to have the range between people to him. This technologies helps to boost the emotion and connection to each other.🥰🥺
