They wouldn't have much of a choice. In the UK, you have to get permission to change things. Buildings have to be preserved because of its history. They have to keep them as close as possible to the original. They can upgrade plumbing etc but it is is very strict.
They need more architects that restore old ruin buildings and make them their masterpieces. Lovely video!

I agree. You can see in this one how he restaured it but used some modern touches of his own. I think that's the way to go. Old buildings most of the time aren't well suited for modern life, so you need at least some modern elements to make them work.

Beautiful! Ancient artifacts, regal 1700's castle, modern amenities. Great upgrade! Lindo!
God bless you, Jaime Fernández, for your love of history and willingness to preserve it.
Just think, this castle was built, when America was becoming a country.

I just watched a tiny house program where they made bedrooms for 3 kids in about 10 feet of a shipping container. 2 beds on the floor with a small loft containing a third bed. Something like that could probably be done with one of the upstairs bedrooms.

You could add some to this building. Like a semi-underground something. That way you don't need to move out.

A great job! I wish other architects and builders are as gifted and sensitive as you are. It is sad that you have to sell this. Hope another owner will treasure this gem as you did. Good luck. May be you can look for another “ruin” to bring back to it glories.

Robert Rodgers wow, a lot of assumptions there huh. Where did I say that he sounds American or that British English is "inferior" ? As a Canadian that used to live in London I didn't hear any British accent there, I think you might be taking his pronunciation of some words as an accent.
