CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Edward (Giovanni Ribisi) waits for his girlfriend Ruth (Sarah Silverman) to finish work at the whorehouse so they can go on a date.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Seth MacFarlane plays a hapless farmhand in the Old West who loses his girl when he ducks out of a fight, only to be taught how to shoot by the wife of an infamous gunfighter in this Media Rights Capitol Western comedy. The setting is Arizona, circa 1882. In the wake of talking his way out of a showdown in the streets of Old Stump, cowardly sheepherder Albert (MacFarlane) is unceremoniously dumped by his beloved girlfriend Louise (Amanda Seyfried). Meanwhile, on the outskirts of town, notorious outlaw Clinch (Liam Neeson) prepares for a big holdup, instructing his wife Anna (Charlize Theron) and sidekick Lewis (Evan Jones) to pose as a pair of sibling farmers in Old Stump and await his return. When Lewis starts a bar brawl, Albert instinctively gets Anna out of harm's way and a friendship begins to blossom. Later, Anna poses as Albert's girlfriend at a fair in order to make Louise jealous, but it all goes awry when Albert and Louise's new beau Foy (Neal Patrick Harris), the owner of the local "Moustachery," end up challenging one another to draw in front of the entire town. Now there's only one problem: Albert has never even so much as fired a gun. Fortunately, as the wife of a notorious outlaw, Anna knows her way around a pistol, and with just one week to go before the big showdown, she offers to give Albert a crash course in marksmanship. With the help of his sexy, straight-shooting teacher, Albert not only manages to hit a can or two, but to summon some inner courage as well. He'll need all he can get, too, because when Clinch gets word that his wife is being romanced by one of the locals, he rides into town with revenge on his mind and a loaded six-shooter on his hip.

I have no ideas why most people don't rate this movie. I think it deserves much higher scores. 33% on rotten tomatoes is ridiculously low.
@vingasoline5068
2 жыл бұрын
Well who cares what Rotten Tomatoes says anyway? They give a movie like “Hook” 30-something % but they’ll give a movie like “Cuties” a 90%. Id say IMDb is a better review site for movies and shows bc they aren’t all professional critics who think every movie has to be a work of art when the reality is that some movies should be allowed to just be fun or goofy without being completely serious.

The comic chemistry between Sarah Silverman and Giovanni Ribisi in this movie is pure gold. Too bad they haven't been cast together since, you could build a really funny movie around them.
Certain scenes, especially of the McFarlane satire brand, stand out for me. The joke is hilarious, and the delivery of her getting railed while he sits there like a church boy is just comedy gold, this is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.
The way he just sits there with the flowers as she's working. 😂

@pepperVenge
10 ай бұрын
@@ayyo-jason True, but the film most likely still lost a lot of money as the production budget isn't the only debt a movie has to recover. The marketing budget alone, which is almost never made public, is a debt that exceeds at least the 9 figure range. Some examples: Disney spent a whooping $250 million on marketing Star Wars 7. Oppenheimer needs to make at least $400 million before it will start earning profit, and the film Star Trek Into Darkness only made barely $30 million in profit, despite a $467 million box office against a $150 million production budget. In fact, Solo, A Star Wars Story had to break $550 million before it could earn profit, but it couldn't even make $400 million. I opine AMWTDITW very likely had a marketing budget of at least $150 million considering how frequently its ads ran. So the film lost a substantial amount of money just from production and marketing alone. Who knows what other debts the film had.
She asked that question out of the same curiosity that I was thinking it. “Can I ask you a personal question?”
