    I remember when we were constantly told to “think outside of the box.” Now we’re expected to live inside the box that we’ve been assigned to by our age, color of skin, religion, sex, and so on and if we step out of that box then prepared to be canceled. Yet words such as diversity, equality, and inclusion are very popular catch phrases now but only apply to those who think a certain way.

    @Social Justice Warrior Don't be pedantic. The first few generations of sentient humans obviously didn't have any qualms with their ancestors, but at some point after the neolithic revolution, as culture and society developed, differences in age groups began to arise, and generational gaps ensued. Even Plato made various juvenoic comments about the generation succeeding his; every generations thinks they're smarter than the one before them and wiser than the one after them, but really it's more of a part of getting older than anything else.

    You would think that with young people generally voting for Democrats and older people voting Republican that after one generation everyone would be a Democrat. But the truth is as these kids get older they realize that the Republicans were right the whole time! It's just too bad that no young people have noticed this yet! Apparently this is something every generation has to learn on it's own. :(

  • @terri639

    @terri639

    @@matthew8153 That's exactly why they shouldn't vote for Trump. Then again... no one bothers to learn history these days. No one votes their self interests because they are not smart enough to know what the two parties represent. The economy always goes into a recession under a Republican and has to recover under a Democrat. Historically, the Democrat has stood for the working class people, while the Republicans for the 1%. This is why most history professors are liberals. The education system in our country has really done a disservice to the general public. It's unfortunate and sad.

  • @terri639

    @terri639

    @@Hypercube9 Actually, historically speaking the Democrats are for the working class and the Republicans are for the 1%. So unless you're part of the 1%...you're not smart enough to know you're getting duped. It's a shame that the older generations don't open their eyes. Of course, it's not totally unexpected with most of them not understanding the era of the internet, Facebook, and television. Most older people get on Facebook and treat the news there like it's professional journalism. It's not their fault, because all news in their day was professional journalism. They also grew up in a time where new wasn't for profit. Since it wasn't for profit they didn't have to sensationalize things to draw viewers. They told the truth and that's how you got popular push-back like rejecting the Vietnam War. Unfortunately today...that could never happen. Here's a hint to anyone that doesn't know: If it's shared on Facebook ...it's probably bs. Look for multiple sources with .edu, .gov, or some peer reviewed journal articles before believing it. The one thing that the millennial have over the older generation is that our parents forced us to get college degrees. We are a group of overly educated people that understand history and how to vet a source, but all work two or three part time jobs. History will not be kind to the generation that voted Trump into office. They'll be looked at the same way as the generation that voted in Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover. Guess what happened? The younger generation had to clean up the mess by electing FDR for four terms. Damn I wish people would educate themselves.

Even as a kid I knew I didn't deserve that trophy. If I really wanted a real trophy I had to work for it. As a millennial, to millennial parents of today and to future generations, please don't do this. Don't give your kid a trophy for losing. Don't buy them a brand new car, have them work and save up for it. Teach them how to support themselves and pay for their own things. Not saying you shouldn't help your kid out here in there (family is family, help each other out).

    I get that this is style of comedy is less offensive because both parties are the butts of the jokes, but sometimes one side deserves to be made fun of in a "one-sided attack." For instance, when one side is clearly wrong and their wrong-ness can be proved with rational thought and evidence.

    I was told by a very wise mentor many years ago - It's not the age of the individual that defines them; but rather, their character. This has proven to be oh so true. I have dealt with professional and responsible clients of all ages and backgrounds, and I have dealt with nitwits of all ages of backgrounds. One bit of very simple advice I can offer- My parents taught me to say "please"" and "thank you" at a young age; and I've done the same with my daughter. This shows respect, and in turn, earns respect.

Its sad that the parents project their issues on their kids... give the kids 'trophies' to make the parents feel better... and then blame the kids for getting trophies. Fuck em

    I turned 27 four months ago, so I’m a Millennial, verging on Gen Z since I’m close to the ending cut off point. My mom is a Boomer II (1963) and my dad is an older Gen Xer (1965). I think every generation has their strengths and weaknesses. Sure, Baby boomers and Gen Xers were generally less coddled than most of us who are Millennials and Gen Z kids, particularly because they didn’t have technology as kids at the tips of their fingers, whereas we grew up with insta-technology’s inception. However, our generation has also granted a lot more opportunities to people who didn’t fit in with the average Joe that didn’t exist back then. People who genuinely have a disability that makes it too difficult for them to drive safely themselves back and forth can now get Uber or Lyft to pick them up, drop them off, or deliver them food. People who cannot speak or use their hands to write have the ability to communicate with specific technology that allows them to do that. Digital calculators are great tools for people who struggle with math. Before the Millennial and Gen Z eras of technological advancement and fast communication, a lot of people who didn’t fit the status quo got mistreated and undermined because accommodations for them didn’t exist.

    My mom's a gen X and my dad's a baby boomer, in some ways you can tell. She's resourceful, competitive and work's beyond what's expected of her, since 14 she's had to work to pay for the things she needs, like braces, dental procedures, school supplies, and uniforms, she was pretty much a latchkey kid. Dad he grew up at a time where he didn't have to worry about not having enough money to pay for necessities, if he needed something all he had to do was go ask his mom who stayed home while his dad worked. He was able to get a job just walking into a factory and saying he was interested in a job, no resume or cover letter needed. My mom is head of the finances and does all the budgeting. Dad he helps in anyway he can but he gets stressed out much faster than my mom does.
