I've been playing computer games since we had to load them on 15 minute cassette runs and floppy discs (5.25 inch, not the later 3.5 inch), and Bohemia's Arma series is easily the best 3D infantry military simulator. Can't wait for Arma 4.

Hey HazBo! Nice video mate! I agree with you about the server stability, this is something BI need to fix fast. I was playing Conflict the other night and it crashed or I was disconnected about every 20-30 mins. Overall, though, it’s a surprisingly enjoyable experience considering how embryonic the platform is currently. I’m really looking forward to what we see next!

Hey Glenn good to hear from you. Yes, Even in its current "basic form" reforger can offer some really enjoyable moments makes you think of what it can become once the issues are sorted and content n features get added eh? The workshop is already filling up with projects aswell. Exciting...yet I fear Ill have alot more potential coverage than I can handle lol.

Havent bought it yet, but I think I’ll need to. 30€ is a lot for unfinished game, but OFP nostalgia kicks in and its good way to support BI en route to Arma 4. Although I hope they’ll include the mission editor and not the workbench only(even the old 2d editor would do), as this is the main reason most of us spent thousands of hours in Arma series games.

Hi kirilas, interesting you should say that. Yes, Many people have knowingly taken the plunge (even at the asking price) just to support the development of Arma 4. I think Bohemia Interactive is very lucky to have a solid community who are willing to take the rocky road and even pay for it. As for the editors I totally agree, game master doesn't currently do it for me and there needs to be a included editor which is launched from within the game.

@@HazBofficial Hi HazBo. Yes, exactly, because BI did a lot and cared for the community(I think Arma series still has the only moderated workshop in the whole steam workshop) community is ready to, as you say, pay for the rocky road just to see a brighter future. I hope that some kind of editor appears in the near future as this is the crown jewel of Arma. Its not an Arma without a mission editor.

Honestly I'm kind of scratching my head with this move. I think collectively the target audience has been patiently waiting for the next step in the series, but what bothers me is the timeline/frame and Project Argo. It's been almost a decade. That's usually not a great sign for devs, but understandably BI isn't a traditional game dev. They have another product I assume most Arma players are aware of - Virtual Battlespace (VBS), and for the most part the only way you can get your hands on it is by buying a license or being a part of an agency that has a contract with them, also you can torrent VBS2 from TPB. Regardless, we've seen BI put out videos since 2014 about global renders and maritime physics that you'd find pretty innovative today, even improved vehicle physics - arguably one of the biggest problems in Arma 3. I understand that these improvements are probably on a varied engine, or maybe a different engine entirely, but it's strange to me that 9 years after the launch of such a monumental sandbox, there hasn't been a whiff of something new until now. If Reforger didn't come out, I wouldn't be surprised to see another Creator dlc for $20 this year. Honestly, there'd probably be another OperatorDrewski vid about "what to play until Arma 4 comes out", and I wouldn't think any more or less than BI. It's honestly the reason I've been sinking money into DCS, Arma made me buy the stick, and after my first carrier landing I realized how terrible that flight model is. But then they dropped Reforger. Okay, having not played yet because I'm extremely on the fence about the price. You know how much Arma 3 was at launch? $30. Is Reforger a complete new game? No, but it could be, and I hope it's an easy way of seeing how much they stress console-players' fingers before building their next nest egg. What throws me off is that in 2017, BI released Project Argo. If you've never heard of it, I'm not surprised. It was a free-to-play multiplayer that to my knowledge was on Stratis or Altis, and it was a way for BI to grow their player base. It wasn't exactly a success, and it's kinda hard to find anything on it other than a few devlogs on BI's site, but there are YT videos about it. So, my question is why? Why 10 years later? Why $30? What will Reforger turn into? Is Reforger essentially a Beta that will become the multiplayer for the console side, or will Arma 4 release on consoles as well? Are we going to have access to similar albeit dumbed down versions of mechanics from VBS? At the end of the day, I'm not upset, but more suspicious and envious of people who use VBS. Global rendering like MSFS2020 but with shootie shoots and water physics. Absolutely would love to do heli rescues in the Bearing Sea, or recreate the 1995 San Diego Tank Rampage, or even current events. The best thing about any of this, is that we're getting new stuff and that's all I can ask for. From some AAA devs, that's asking too much. Hopefully in the next couple years we'll be seeing each other in the Himalayas and hiding in the shadows of the mountain sides THAT EVERYONE CAN SEE thank fucking Christ - - or OR we can be in Miami RPing as Sonny and Rico. Big respect to the community, thanks for the thousands of hours of laughs and mods. Can't wait to see what comes next

Hey there! Loved the video and I'm looking forward to more content from you! I was wondering if you could help guide my debit card here. I know that you said to beware buying this game and discussed the server issues but did YOU find Reforger to be worth the cost of entry? Were the short experience(s) you had worth the cost? Do you think Bohemia will address the server issue quickly? Do you think they'll make good use of your money? From what I can gather you're an arma fan like me and I'm looking to gather some opinions here from people with experience dealing with Bohemia and Arma in general. Thanks for any help in advance!

Just to clarify btw, I think Reforger looks absolutely amazing and I've been REALLY tempted to buy it as I want to support Arma 4's future and the fact that the game itself just looks like a lot of fun. However, I've become more cautious when buying games these days and like to be super sure about any purchase I make.

Hi Groove, The short experiences were enough to make me see the massive potential and it gave me the urge to want play more. Realistically, as a "game", was it worth the money of waiting to join servers and constant DC issues...so far probably not but I can see past this. I can't "advise" you as such when it comes to money as People will find different value within different things. Its been 4/5 days since release. I would continue your research and let the dust settle for another week or so and see if the server issues improve. Fair warning, the game is LIGHT on content right now. Its a difficult proposition and I can totally understand peoples reservations over this, especially at the price point and you are right to be doing your research and asking questions, I bought it because I wanted a glimpse of how enfusion was gonna "feel" and possibly look at the workbench and all the other cool dev stuff. I bought it knowing it was a basic test bed. If your buying it because its an arma game then delay for now....its not so much a game as it is a platform/showcase/demo. I think over the next day or so your decision will become easier. More n more gameplay will appear and grounded impressions/opinions will surface over the fan boy vs casual debates. Sorry for the wall of text. Welcome to the channel

I too am a “lifelong” OFP/Arma devotee, and to be honest I saw my investment in Arma Reforger as more of vote of confidence and a “donation” to a franchise I’ve loved that’s given me so much over 20 years. My expectations were pretty low so anything would have been ok, really. But if I’m honest, even with all the expected bugs and server issues, I’ve really enjoyed the experience. More than I thought I would. In some ways I’m pleasantly surprised there is an actual, proper MP game mode (as vastly simple and limited as it is), but I’m disappointed in the server stability issues. Bugs I expect, and that’s ok, but hardly matters if you can’t get on a server for more than 15 mins at a time. I expect that this will get ironed out in the next week or so. “Conflict” is fun, and I can see it being my regular “Friday night fight” for awhile, at least as long as the interest remains from enough other players. I kinda even like the “no tech” having to use compass, etc. Adds to the sense of atmosphere, I think

lovely though the trailer is, if you compare 15:10 with this in-game shot of the same house interior i.imgur.com/LCHnXi6.png, you can clearly see they were using a different lighting and PBM model and possibly even a completely different engine. the brass doorhandle is a proper PBM texture with specular highlights, and also casts a shadow, whereas nothing inside the in-game house casts shadows at all. the trailer house looks like a UE5 render, whereas the in-game version is... disappointing.
