Everyday, nurses all over the U.S. suffer from sharps injuries including needlestick injuries.
Karen Daley, a nationally recognized sharps safety expert, policy advocate, and sharps injury survivor shares her story. Sharps injuries have dropped by 1/3 in the U.S. since the Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act, but have not dropped further since 2010. Hi. How do you prevent sticks when clearing a procedure tray that has blades and neediles? Do you fish around with a long swab and move "trash" aside instead of fingers. Once you find a sharp (ex dermablade) is it ok to remove by hand or a tweezer ? Curious . Thanks

I hope the Biden Administration can help to extend safety practices in the facilities that have not done enough to ensure preventative measures for nurses.
