A manual, a dirt bike & an oil change.. | What could go wrong?
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Learning to perform basic maintenance of your motorcycle is a helpful life skill. If you're not well versed however, that process is a tricky one. Mechanical endeavours are nerdy, complicated and full of tools and words that make no sense.
Lucy isn't naturally drawn to pulling things apart, understanding how they work and then leaving a pile of nuts and bolts for later and thus, seems the perfect person for the job at hand.
I'd love to hear what your first mechanic experiences were in the comments.

Lucy is brilliant! This is the sort of video that if you described it to a friend they’d say it sounds rubbish but it was actually thoroughly entertaining!
“The little paddle of doom”… I am so stealing that.
Lucy's smile and your patience make this very entertaining.

I love how Lucy took it seriously and seamed to enjoy learning how to do perform an oil change. Great job.

Thanks!
Toss the two oil screens into a glass jar full of fuel, put the lid on and shake it for a bit and those filters come out very clean. I’ve never had any issues with the rubber parts as long as I’ve reinstalled them soon after so they’ll be coated in oil again (also a hydrocarbon, whether synthetic or not).
This is the funnest video I have watched in years. This is better than cats popping balloons. Thank you Lucy is the perfect foil for you.
This is the BEST instructional video ever. We are all Lucy :-) 😊
Well done. As a bit of a fumbling, intimidated mechanic myself, I relate! The sense of accomplishment that follows even these simple maintenance steps is the best. Congratulations to Lucy.
Hahahahaha Lucy and her magnet 🤭 and the magnet won by just a smidge in front of the mighty TORQUE WRENTCH 😁 Enjoyed the vid and great job Lucy 👍🤘😎

Lucy is a good sport, tough ask being filmed while trying to figure out a complex task. Where would we be without the manual!
he best vid I've watched for ages - what a great idea! You can see Lucy working things out and the delight when something happens that should happen. It also highlights how badly manuals can sometimes be written: by someone who can't explain something straightforwardly. Well done both of you. Lucy is an absolute darling 🙂
She's a great sport! Most people would be too worried about looking stupid and be super embarrassed. As a person who's trained alot of people. When you're new to something. No one expects you to be perfect. Jump in with both feet. Don't let the fear of possibly screwing something up paralyze you into doing nothing. Nice job on the product placement Lell!!! Good job Lucy. You should be proud of yourself
I like the logical approach to a completely unknown task. Very well done, Lucy! 👍
I did'nt learn much on this one, but I did giggle and I am sure there are some that could learn and others gain some confidence perhaps an even better result. Due respect she is a good sport.
Fantastic. 🥰👍🏼(only a few minutes in… very entertaining). I can so relate. The dialog between you is much like the dialog I have in my own head (with myself) while doing anything on the bike. Now I’ll keep watching.

well done Lucy and for the vid. Nothing more painful than watching a 'How to..' vid on YT and they skip over key parts but this showed every step without painful waffle. Lucy verbalises the confusion of following workshop manuals that I say in my head albeit with more frustration and swearing. And 14:00 is a spot on torque wrench impersonation!
This is the best video you've made. All I could think of as I watched it was my wife doing this. Thanks for the entertainment as I drink another beer.
Tenacious-a keeper that one!
So many turn left please - erm the other left hun - moments... enriched by the manual of the car you drive since 15 years, explains the engine breaking thingy - seriously? Yes hun, it does. And when she asks then why (she's got to learn)? I won't be there forever. ;) I'm not alone. Tyvm :)))
well done Lucy, i remember my 1st time as do most of us who take it on rather than pay it on

Really highlights the assumptions made regarding technical experience when the manuals are written. Exceptional coaching and bravo to Lucy for working through it.
Fair play Lucy. My daughter has a civil engineering degree. Can she change oil? Nope. I offered to show her, and her response was "I will always be able to get a bloke to do it" and thus far she is right. Well done for doing this on a channel watched mostly by blokes who can do this sort of stuff in their sleep, but we all did this for the first time once - but many moons ago.

Would it work to ask your daughter: Oh, so you don't value being an independent, modern woman then? 😉 Perhaps you teach her the oil change and she teaches you something else?

@@swedbear4035 @SwedBear If only women were that simple. It would work on a man. My wife is still of the view there are man jobs. These usually involve spanners, brute force or rubbish bins. But I'm not allowed to paint or tile. The reality is most men are better at moving fridges than most women, and most women are better at fine motor movements than most men. But changing oil, total equality.
Valve adjustment next. The sky is the limit. Great video, really enjoyed watching. Congrats to Lucy, well done.
This is something I have to do yesterday which I haven't done before on a motorcycle, only a car, so thank you for the reminder! 🙈 I have everything necessary except the prioritised time, so if you guys made a trip to Sweden and I provided you with food and accomodation? 🤔
A masterpiece! Lucy, well done! 👍 Great education and very encouraging. Fantastic 😊

That was fun! Some "things" that more seasoned bike mechanics take for granted are not necessarily straight forward for riders beginning to work on their bike. This video puts these "things" into perspective.
Lucy… Top Bird, good effort 🎉

@@BrakeMagazinein all seriousness, my son is about to get his licence and first motorcycle. He has almost no mechanical experience so it was a good insight in to what to expect and how I might explain and teach him as he takes on maintenance.

Great Video, you guys are really charismatic. It would be optimal to drive an spin all 6 gears to ensure all the slug and residue comes out of the engine, if you wear proper gloves and work fast the oild shouldnt burn you. Just thread the plug out till its nearly falling out and then take it out really fast. But i know the pain and fear of burning yourself. Nevertheless an oilchange with warm oil like you guys did is already way better than with cold oil. Greetings from Austria

Did you ever make the 4th video of the enduro bike (Wales)? After your 3rd video you mentioned that you’d do a bike review to talk it all through.
Heating the oil by running the engine is not to change the viscosity, it is to get any crud and metal into suspension so that it comes out with the oil rather than staying in the engine and building up.
