A MAN CALLED OVE | Official UK Trailer [HD] - on home entertainment now
Фильм және анимация
Watch the UK trailer for A MAN CALLED OVE, a heartwarming adaptation of Fredrik Beckman's acclaimed novel.
An isolated retiree with strict principles and a short fuse, Ove (Rolf Lassgård) is the quintessential angry old man next door. Having entirely given up on life, his days are spent in a constant monotony of enforcing housing association rules and visiting his wife Sonja’s grave.
But when a boisterous young family moves in next door, immediately incurring his wrath, things take an unexpected turn. Pregnant Parvaneh (Bahar Pars) and her lively children are the complete antithesis of what ill-tempered Ove thinks he needs - and yet, from this inauspicious beginning an unlikely friendship blooms and Ove's past happiness and heartbreaks come to light.
The film was nominated for two awards at the 89th Academy Awards, including Best Foreign Language Film of the Year, as well as Best European Comedy at the European Film Awards.

Finished the book last wknd. I cried at least 5 times during my read. The last few pages -- wow, yeah. Unsure how the film will demonstrate that emotional tug but may rent it to find out. Still, the book was greatness. Really enjoy Mr. Beckman's books so far.

i did not know about A man Called Ove until after I watched a man called otto. Bravo on both of them. I could almost tell my wife what was gonna happen next (watched otto first and then OVE with her) she doesnt like captioned foreign films, but I told her she would love this one.
I've just watched the movie. It's impossible not to cry a river. I truly recommend it

Great book
Amazing film
Reading the book now. 30% in and wanted to see the trailer.
What a perfect jewel of a movie. Life gives us good tears and bad tears. The good tears come when something touches your heart. This movie will give you the good tears. I started out not liking Ove at all. He's rude, nit-picking and grumpy. By the end of the movie, I loved him. Ove didn't change, I did. Watch this movie and be changed too. People say I'm a little like Ove. Don't see it myself. Oh, and the people on Amazon Prime giving this film a one star rating because they can't read/turn on subtitles are IDIOTS. Completely incompetent. I'll bet you can't even back a trailer. Bah!
This looks so different to A Man Called Otto which I just saw. It was amazing, so I’m interested to see this one and/or read the book too. But that was definitely not a light-hearted comedy! It was emotional, heartwarming, interesting, cute, sad, funny, shocking and more, but certainly not to be described as a comedy.

This is an incredibly long and sad movie. Be warned. There were a few (count them, 3) funny/happy moments, but the movie was overwhelmingly sad. I suspected it might be quirky and lighthearted even with the crotchety personality. Foreign films tend to do that well. But I was wrong. What is wrong with people that they all love this? See The Big Blue (diving movie) or something interesting without being 2 hours of morose.

@@SaraLevins You cried through Tom Hanks or the first one? The first one was incredibly morose. Unless you like punishment, don't watch it. I thought the European one might actually be the quirkier humorous one but it was the opposite. That said, the Hanks one could have been totally overhauled with the guy from Elf and made into a quirky comedy. The Hanks one was median, kind of white bread.

@@elainegmorrison I bawled my eyes out at the european one, but the tom hanks one was just as sad to me but not as much. This is the last time i’m going to see sad movies in public 😭 I do think however that they did the right choice with Hanks, and that he did a good job with the whole grumpy act
