This is so...everything. At her lowest moment, when she has no home..is covered in dirt..and was nearly assaulted..a man..not only a prince..but a man in love wanted her when she possibly thought that she had reached the end..absolutely incredible
This scene is so effective at pulling my heartstrings because of Danielle’s appearance. She’s all dirty and dressed very commonly. This point is emphasized when Henry takes off her work-worn shoe revealing the plain gray stocking and then slides the exquisite glass slipper onto her foot. And when she clasps her blackened hands to her dirty face and sobs. Maybe it’s because we all fantasize about being rescued at our lowest points by someone who unconditionally accepts us. I recognize that she is very pretty which helps but still. Also knowing how Danielle has been worked hard most of her life, to see her being offered the world when she’s all tattered and lowly is so satisfying.
prince: "I stand in front of you a prince in love, but I would feel like a king if you would be my wife" Me: "awwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!"
"I kneel before you, not as a prince, but as a man in love...but I would feel like a king if you, Danielle DeBarbarac, would be my wife". This is my all-time favorite scene in the movie and I know these words by heart. It is simply one of the most romantic lines ever!!! I smile like an idiot everytime I watch this movie and hear these lines spoken. Where are all the romantic men?!!!
I loved it so much when Henry said this to Danielle: SHE’S MY MATCH IN EVERY WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yay! She rescues herself! I loved the rest of the movie but this is what made it top of the list of romantic movies for me. Hollywood, give us more damsels in distress saving themselves, please. I love that Danielle is brave and resourceful while still being allowed to be kind, gentle and at times vulnerable. I feel like most directors think 'strong' women have to be hard and tough-talking at all times, which is so far removed from reality that it makes me cringe when I see it.
I think it is the BEST Cinderella story both for children and adults - inspiring and sooooo romantic Henry was
one of the finest, greatest, most underrated movies ever.
I always love how she didn’t even bat an eye as he said “I came to rescue you.” Then she was, “Yea, right.” And scoffed her way😂
The sweetest scene ever. The humble way he kneels down, picks up her filthy, muddy foot, and tenderly slips off her shoe. And when she's overcome and crying, he just waits there, quietly, letting her have her moment of emotion. They just don't make em like this anymore!
I love the fact that she saved herself!
I love how she does not leap into his arms immediately because she had the sense to do so. Just because the Prince was in love with her did not mean everything was already fun and dandy. He still had to convince her that his royalty meant nothing to him. You can see how happy she already felt when he said her name and when he showed her the shoe. But still, she was in her senses not to leap into his arms then. She still knows that she’s a commoner and he is the crown prince.
I always cry when she covers her face because she's not even thinking about him but how horrible her life has been. Her face screams exhaustion.
This movie is one of the reasons I'm such a hopeless romantic.
"No. The part where you said my *name*."
His face of happiness right when she reaches out to jump into his arms. <3
I love the fact that at the end she has one of each shoe on- to me it shows the spilt between the lives she had been living throughout the movie. Even if she marries the prince her past does not get erased
I loved where she carried him out. On her back when gypsies had them hilarious.
Henry:Please Danielle
"I kneel before you not as a prince but as a man in love" that line is so romantic, that's when I fell in love with the proposal.
