In 2003 I was in LOVE with Orient Expedition, but wasn't able to get any of those sets. In 2001 I got almost every Bionicle Set, but in 2002 I was torn between Bionicle and Harry Potter. All I got in 2003 was one Bohrok Kal, the Rakshi, and Takanuva. One set that I'm still attached to is the Pods that Lego made. They were portable mini sets from some year I can't remember. I would carry them with me as a way to kill time if I was bored. I wish I still had the parts lists...

Ooh, I have a lot of those Orient Expedition sets. The "Steam Boat" one you want is a good one.

+Aidan Hodge-McNutt I agree, 100%. First they had Adventurers, then Indiana Jones, then Pharaoh's Quest, and then LEGO just stopped. Bring Adventurers back, will ya!!!

This brought so much of nostalgia to me, I almost cried. 2003 was the best year. Thank you lego for making my childhood happy

I miss Bionicle already. :-( The Bohrok were ingeniously designed. My favorite part was how their canisters allowed you to hang the Bohrok from the lid so it looked like it was hibernating.

Wow so nostalgic lol. I was either 4 or 5 when this catalog released and yet I still remember just magazine-window-shopping it, flipping through it for hours. I have a few of the sets from it, but none of the large ones. This takes me back lol. Not the first catalog I window shopped, that was circa 2001 because I remember looking at the "My Own Train" sets, as at that time I was also big on Thomas The Tank Engine.

I remember collecting every single set of that Orient Expedition line back then. Yes, they had a card and board game with it. The whole Johnny Thunder series was really what got me into Lego way before Star Wars even. Memories coming back. Long gone, but I still love that stuff.

Man, 2003 was smack dab in the middle of my childhood experience with LEGO, so many of those sets I got as gifts back then.

Those Star Wars mini sets have extra parts included that could be combined into the tie bomber, so you can have them all built at once. That's why you can't see those printed parts in the main builds. I know because I only have one Star Wars mini set, so I'm stuck with only a quarter of the combination build.

i inherited my uncles collection, and he got two or three of each so he could have two bombers built at a time.

I have those Star Wars minisets, they came with extra parts for the bomber, and yes, printed droid bodies :)

I'm pretty sure I had every Galigor set in this catalog when I was younger. I had completely forgot what they were called! And I never knew they had any affiliation with LEGO.

The truck at 4:25 is a *great* set! It's arguably one of my favorite Creator sets - quite the classic :)

Now this is my childhood, right when I got into Lego. A trip down memory lane!

I know this is late, but 7:10. The Star Wars Mini ships. Each pack came with the extra parts for the Tie Bomber Build, so when you had all 4 you would have all the parts for it. Kind of like how they have the "Build-A-Fig" for superhero action figures today, where each figure comes with an additional part to put together a figure you can't get outside of completing the set.

I have this catalog, I got it from. a sealed set Jabba's Palace from 2003 for Christmas 2014 I believe, I could go look at it right now if I want. I really like this catalog, there's so much to see.

Look at how beautifully Bionicle was presented in 2003! Back then, Lego knew they'd scored a jackpot with the series, and definitely captured the mystery of the lore into regular advertising. It doesn't look cheap and promotional like the others; it looks artistic. Because of the second death of Bionicle, I can't help but think about what Lego could've done to preserve it longer. Maybe it's just me, but those realistic, mysterious battle commercials + catalogue presentations that they used to release really enhanced the series.

Ahh, a very formative year for me and Lego. Those Creator 3 in 1 type sets were always a favorite of mine back then and still are! I especially loved all the robot ones, but don't remember ever having any.... As a kid I thought those mini Star Wars ships were the coolest things in the world. I don't think I ever saw them in stores, just in pictures wishing I did! I had the black Bohrok and thought it was so neat. But unfortunately lost it at a mini-golf course shortly after I got it. My friend had some Jack Stone sets and I thought they looked cool mostly because I was a fan of the large cockpit and figures.

I remember this catalog. I had a ton of the Jack-stone stuff, a lot of the parts for buildings are super useful for large scale construction and result in pretty sturdy stuff. I REALLY wanted the Orient Expedition Yeti set, and the Chinese influenced ones, in particular the boat. I still want that original AT-TE to mix with the 2013 one. We're overdue for a new Tie Bomber, TIE Interceptor, and Bounty Hunter Pursuit. I'm still hoping to track down that Dumbledore's tower set. RIP Bionicle because of the BLOODY SKELETONS.

2003 was a good lego year for me, i got the big Harry Potter castle, one of these racers(8371) and some other small sets. Back then i was just 10 y/o

I had a lot of the creator sets from back then, the big blue bot was awesome.

Those NBA sets bring me back. My brother and my best friend and I created the LBA (Lego basketball league) together. We kept stats, had actual teams, schedules, and a championship at the end of the season. It was legit.

You should do an Adventurers set review sometime!

I remember these sets a lot more clearly. I loved the cute and vibrant stuff from the 94-97 era, and these ages completely lack such stuff. I have never really liked the police stuff, but they looked even more boring at this era. Jack stone... let's not even bring that up. Even back then I liked the original Bionicles more, and I was really sad to see the new line come since It meant I had failed to collect the previous ones before they were removed from the shelves. The orient expedition stuff were really cool though. Drome racers, I liked cars a lot better back then so, I liked them. But I would usually get the smaller cars since they were more affordable, and the lack of proper figures was annoying. Overall, fond memories...

Those 4 star wars mini packs all came with extra parts, all extra parts could be combined for the tie bomber. I have all 4 sets

That blue creator robot brings back so much nostalgia of visiting Legoland and just Lego in general.

Well this takes me back. This was my first catalog. Always wanted that basketball set.

I remember having the full set of the Star Wars mini collection, plus that red and white creator set was one of my favourites!

Ooooh, man. I loved the Bohrok so very much, they were such cool little sets. They could be made into balls and rolled arpund, pose a heck of a lot better than the Toa, and had 'Brains' akin to Kanohi masks, called Krana. The headplate could open up and they looked very threatening. Ahh... They were so, so cool dude!

You should do some lets plays of old lego online games, like the spybotics one.

Oh man I remember getting the Creator set with the red, green and yellow robots when I turned 6. The yellow one was always my favorite. I also remember the Creator game on lego.com that had all those sets in it that I used to play all the time.

As for the Star Wars Mini Collection, with each of the sets you got one quarter of the Tie-Bomber as additional pieces, so Wings or Middleparts. There was a second series where you would get parts for a mini Y-Wing. I still remember getting about 5 AT-ST-Sets for Birthday from different people but I'm still happy about it because they offered a great supply of parts :D

I remember getting all of those mini Star Wars sets at LegoLand in CA back in 2003 [or late 2002?]. I still have them all, and the AT-ST is on my desk, as I think the design is as close to perfect as one could get at that scale and the printed piece is perfect!

I had that orient stuff. I got it on clearance at a grocery store while at college. I loved it. I also got two of the China castles and made 1 huge castle. I've never seen a deal on Lego like that before or since. I still have ALL those Star Wars sets too. Time for some eBay. As I don't Lego anymore.

If that, "Grr, argh" was a reference to Joss Whedon's production company I think I may just respect you more. Great video as always, Jang. You're one of the few creators out there that I can say make their videos completely their own.

I've never held any ill will toward the Jack Stone series, when I was younger at school they put us in reading groups with even younger kids and this little kid I was put with absolutely loved Jack Stone and you could see how happy the character made him as well as his catchphrase "can do, will do, done". Since then I've always thought of it as something that was nice for younger kids. Galidor on the other hand... even when I was younger I thought was super bad and not cool at all.

When I first saw Galidor in '03, and especially when I read the short comics and all, I thought it was the coolest thing ever next to Bionicle. Then it totally sucked. I'd honestly enjoy a reboot of it someday. But that Toa Nuva spread makes all the nostalgia come back. :D SO GOOD.

Having bought the old SW mini sets way back when, I seem to recall that the parts for the TIE Bomber were separate from the actual set build itself. I built it once, and it was indeed as neat as it looked.

2003 was the last year of the old Light gray and Dark gray. In 2004, they started using the newer Light and Dark bluish gray, which are the gray colors they use today.

I'm just in the process of testing a Spybotics set (3808). The software works on Windows 10 if you uninstall whatever version of QuickTime you have and install the older version from the disc. Not got around to actually testing the robot yet!

Funny thing. That Boat creator set 4402. It's actually a mistake in the catalog. The picture shows an alternative build for that model. The original was a very nice and clean detailed high speed boat.

With the Star Wars minis, you got spare parts and from these parts from all four sets you could build a fifth ship. That is on the picture :D I had just the AT-set and still have the sand blue printed engine piece, it was really useful!

I think this catalog is only for US & Canada. In Germany/Danmark we have different catalogs ;-)

NANO-Nils are you looking at ones from 2016? Because this is from 2003.

In the Minis, you get the Tie Bomber pieces. It is a printed Sand Blue piece. It's a bit longer than a droid body, but similar. I have the full set of the Tie Bomber set. And 3 out of the 4 to make the Y-Wing

This is the time I began buying sets! I've got alot and know alot of sets from this catalog!

Ooh so much stuff that I still have in parts. Btw the droid body is indeed sandblue, same color as Count Doku's speeder, and I used it to have a body for my red R2 unit head that came with Obi-Wan's Starfighter from Ep II.

It just had larger figures and they've got Juniors today, we don't complain about the brand 'Juniors' that use some larger pieces, and this was just another attempt" Yeah, but the 'Juniors' today have regular minifigures and a lot more improved looking sets. They still use big pieces, yes, but they are mainly just vehicle bases and building plates that can somewhat be used for other things. The old Jack Stone and 4 Juniors had so horrible looking figures and pieces that I would prefer throwing them away if I could.

Things really were different 13 years ago! I'd like to see the return of the NBA sets and the weird springy figures!

I remember driving my parents crazy with the siren bricks that came with the Jack Stone sets, good times.

ah, those were the days when lego gave you a "sneak-peek" catalog in almost every set. I still have 3 of these, but this wasn't the full catalog.

Until today I had never seen Galidor sets, heard of yes, but never seen. I'm with Jang on this, it should have been an entirely separate line, or even sold of to another manufacturer. It just looks so different to Lego!

I remembered building a custom Astromech Droid using one of the mini TIE Bomber pieces and a Astromech Droid head from the original V-Wing and wondering where I got the droid body. Thanks for reminding me where it came from.

i love the early LEGO Racers days with drome racers. i have always find it cool to recycle lego pieces of the different groups in drome to make my own racers weather using brick or technic pieces. i have only done ones on wheeles, but if i get creative again with it i might make some flying type drome racers.

I have still got that robot on the cover, just customized to fit a figure inside and a larger canon.

About the Star Wars mini, each set will have parts of the Tie-Bomber that you can put together. It's a way to get you to buy all the Star Wars Mini set

Think I had every Toa Nuva, most of the bohroks, I even had the big dinosaur things and the RC fighter thingys from that year I think it was. Man I miss Bionicle!

McDonald's Happy Meals used to come with a miniature, 3 - 4 piece Galidor toy back in 2002. There were to 5 to collect. That's how I found out about the TV series on Fox Kids. I found out about the sets during a commercial break and I *had* to collect them all.

Hey Jang, I had the mini building sets and you were given a mini part pack with each set, you could only build the complete tie bomber if you have all 4. They are very worth it though. Beautiful sets ☺️

Regarding Spybotics: RobotC and a traditional RCX Tower can be used to program these things. I am not sure how much you can actually do with these though. The remote looks cool.

4096 was one of my first LEGO sets. Ah, good times.

I take it I got a lot of Lego in 2003, because I own quite a few of the sets out of this catalog. I must have had a happy Christmas and Birthday that year. :P

Really need another Elephant release from LEGO. Perhaps for Ninjago or something with a new villain theme idea.

The Mini Star Wars sets came with extra pieces for the Tie Bomber. Confused the heck out of me when i was a kid.

Parts of the mini Tie Bomber were included in each set. The AT-ST/Snowspeeder set cam with the main fuselage so you get one of the sand blue droid body pieces. Not sure about the other three sets as I only owned the one I mentioned :/

Every time i see Galidor & know it's LEGO-related my ONLY thought is "What the Bleep Down the Rabbit Hole were they thinking?!" lol

I agree with Jang's assessment of Galidor.

Oh man I had this Hogwarts Express! I was 5 and it may have been my first lego set ever, before I got my first Bionicle, Nuju metru.

You can say about "Galidor" what you want, but lets be honest, the head pieces from the humans figures look way more better then the once from the new StarWars action figures. (Maybe not in this catalog, but just google for real photos, like on eBay or something)

Strange catalog. It has so few text in it, neither set names nor descriptions. The Star Wars MINIs did came with handful of extra pieces (yes, like printed sand-blue Astromech bodies). These combined from all sets would form a TIE Bomber. Also if I recall correctly, the Galidor faces had a slight mat finish to them. They didn't look that bad. I had one set from that theme, propably the main villain, just a different version of him, like a snake skin edition. In fact I was given it years after its release and it was hard for me to believe it was a LEGO toy.

You would build the TIE bomber by collecting all the mini sets. The bomber parts were extra.
