Great GPS unit. I run these on all my simulcast repeaters too.

Great Video ! Plan to order the $60.00 USD ebay board with the (very) small LCD screen for the GPSDO ThunderBolt. Like the idea of the OCXO and the older it is the less drift it has ! The Rubidium is very nice, but has an active run life of about twenty years... and then may fail. (But is very, very stable for the long term). Thank you for the video ! tjl

Nice video. Well done. Just one correction: you CAN program it through the RS232 Port & using "U-Center" (for u-blox). There are literally 1000's of configurations for the GPS receiver. Including what Satellite Networks the GPSDO are enabled. GPS, Galileo, Glosnos, etc.... Here's a good video of how U-Center works by Tony Albus for this particular GPSDO: kzread.info/dash/bejne/l3WYrLV-otTAf84.html Skip to "17:42" min to get to u-center. He also has a download URL in his description.

Which person on ebay did you buy this from? I want to make sure I get one with the Oscilloquartz oscillator. I have heard that there isa wide veriety of oscillators that these are made with and some are not so good and I know Oscilloquartz oscillators are indeed very good quality.

BG7TBL has sold two different GPSDO's recently, they are all cell tower pulls. The one in this video was made by Huawei and has the Oscilloquartz oven, the other they sell uses a Trimble sourced oven. They are both UBLOX controlled receivers, and are equals as far as performance.

Get yourself a copy of Lady Heather (software) to monitor time and satellites for this. Runs off the RS232 port. NMEA data is nice to have when you're using this.

How accurate was it against your rubidium clock?

Best oscillator reference is Cesium Oscillator. HP has a very good one for professional use in Calibration Laboratories.

Correction: "How 'accurate' was your rubidium clock compared to the GPSDO ?"
