A look at the relationship between father and son when Dad has dementia
Father's Day is this Sunday. If you're getting ready to celebrate Dad or the father figures in your life, take a moment to pause and simply soak it all in because so quickly the dynamic can change when a parent is diagnosed with dementia.

I did this for my mother and my grandfather 20yrs. My grandfather lived to 102. My mom 85.I found a college student and gave them free room and board for help. She had Friday night, and all of Saturday and Sunday off. Having helped will save your sanity

I am in Spain & watch Ed & Dad, Danielle every day ❤
My dad had quick onset dementia & we lost him at home October 2023 right before his 98th birthday. I enjoy watching Grandpa Ed & his loving caregiving family & know they are inspiring & encouraging others to care for their loved ones at home too. God Bless Caregivers Everywhere.
Many folks would put Ed in a nursing home. Good for you Dan. Ed would not get that family love in a nursing home. 😊❤
That was beautiful, but they forgot to credit and mention who Danielle is and what she does for our beloved retired doctor Ed Sallinger:(

Dan, Ed, and Danielle have become my most watched videos on KZread!
The biggest "BLESSING", to be able and take care of your parent!!❤❤❤❤❤
I watch them on here all the time… good guys!
I am subscribed to their KZread channel and I enjoy it. Dan is very open when Dad is having a bad morning, etc but he also rejoices when Ed is having good moments.
These two I've been following. The wings of love for a son, the wings of love for a dad.....inseparable!!!!! Such an example for others......
One thing i like about Ed Salinger is he doesn't have a me first attitude. He is not quick in accepting praises thrown to him.❤
Sign-up for his KZread channel too, these guys are hilarious, and they are a very wonderful loving family!
The greatest Son,Dan🤗 I’m caring for my Mom with dementia she just turned 89 June 20th🙏🏼
Love Ed, Dan and Danielle and their You Tube channels! Thanks for sharing this wonderful family taking the best care of their dad at home!
As a Fan of Dan & Ed's channel I have to say you couldn't have found better representatives of what it is to lovingly care for an aging parent than Dan & Danielle. Good interview.
Dr Ed has a huge community that loves him and love to see him daily. He's blessed to have such a loving family 💖
Dan & Danielle, If your dad was in a home for dementia, he would be so much worse off than he is now. You have given him something/someone to live for every day. ❤❤❤
I watch these guys, it's super cute. His dad reminds me of a doctor I had as a little kid.
I’m subscribed and as soon as I saw the thumbnail photo, I KNEW this story was about Dan & Ed. 💜
Please include their website link. Its extremely uplifting to see this especially since being impacted by a father who started to have dementia before he passed away a little over a year ago and then, within six months, my wife was diagnosed with FTD. Its just been unbearable to see her struggle with things for the first time. When a loved one becomes the victim of this illness, its just terrible. At the same time, those moments when they are fine and act like the same person you have known for years are just so special. That hope is so important for loved ones and care givers. The experience makes you appreciate every good time you share with anyone important in your life. Happy Father's Day Dad....

They have a KZread channel and I think Dan's wife Danielle's channel is dsnorcal. You can probably find the website from there.
I hope that every elderly parent has a child like this, to be there when they’ll need it most❤️

JESus my heart is full watching them. 🤗
2 peas in a pod when it comes to their resemblance…given , as they r father n son, but dang….love this son….when u have had outstanding parents, this behaviour by the offspring is the result….Jah Bless
Grandpa Ed!!❤❤❤❤
Ya I follow them I love them
All Westerners need to understand that they have a complete and full responsibility to their aging parents who raised, and cared for them all their lives....it shouldnt have to be said, but sadly, its an issue that needs to be focused on. Society and governments as a whole, should value, support and care for the elderly with all they have. It is how you define and judge a society
Not true. Dan’s brother, Mark, shares the duties with Ed moving between their two homes. However, Dan has the Vlog.
😊😊😊😊❤❤
PLEASE !! 🙄
It can turn very different way, I have a neibough whose mum has the same problem, year by year he becomes so frustrated, he said he did not wish his mom die but his own life is blocked, he can’t just travell and his mom does not want to go to shelter, he wants it but mom does not, she can’t even remember how to open, lock the door… my respect to those who have so much patient as care givers. Dr Ed brings a lot of laughters to me, he can be forgetful but always be a standard father which make his children respect him in any period of his life.
Ed
Well the son is lucky.. the dad ain't that bad. My dad was so bad u had to be right there six inches apart so he didnt run off. . And he did many times and he'd open car doors going down the road. People need to be aware what teally goes on.
🥹
Nice job monetizing dad’s decline.
I adore Ed, but feel like Dan is profiting big time off of the KZread channel 😞

From what Dan shared in previous videos, he had a heart attack, leading to his decision to retire early. He's also responded to his father's concern about surviving and/or taking care of him (can't recall the exact details) that the videos bring in some money.
