A few leaves for 2 months of the year is a small sacrifice for a cracking pond. Great set up and filtration 👍

Hi. Your pond looks awesome. The filters are massive - impressive moving bed. Can not over filter. My 2 tougths. If you extend the inlet to the pumps with an extended mesh like the oase drum combi might help with the blocking. Also Like to see the video how you going to clean the settling tank.

Koi select , quality setup but those 🍂 would do my Nut in , so personally would put a fine mesh over pond in 🍂y season stop all that and stop any potential leaching from leafs that could possibly cause issue’s. But what a pond 👍🏻

Rectangular ponds have 4 dead spots and kills a good flow of circulation A good design with a good skimmer, and half those leaves would never make it to where they start to sink.

Wow great set up! Forgive for asking but is your pond made of Reinforced Concrete? And then do you just paint it with a suitable waterproof paint. Here in the UK everybody is obsessed with fibre glass and EPDM liners. I think particularly fibre glass is not environmentally friendly. Would be very interested to know. Your fish look amazingly healthy and water clear to the bottom. Fab!

it's a reinforced wall pretty thick 60cm I think. serious engineering involved. all tanks are fiberglassed

Hi I'm looking at flow of full pond volume every hour. I need high volume pumps that have low wattage. Right now mine do 120w and 18kl an hour

How did you decide to use those pumps and how many gallons per each pump. Thanks Arthur

18500 liters per hour 120 watts each. Makes sense and they cost about 4500 rand

Why the need for a settlement chamber with a drum filter? You're just trapping waste in the water column. The RDF isnt doing what it was intended to.

from what i could see, your skimmers are not working correctly. The idea of a skimmer is to pull the water surface tension which drags everything on the surface into the skimmer.... but with yours, the surface water does not appear to pull the water surface tension.

@@koiselectsa it looks as if your skimmer is too low and therefor is not working. the water is free flowing over the submerged skimmer door (flap weir) and most of the volume of water that enters the skimmer is not surface water... its in the name, the surface water should be what is being skimmed from the pond... as for your other skimmer, it appears to be at the correct height but i did not see the surface water being pulled into the that skimmer either. Maybe there is not enough water being pumped out of the skimmer boxes, but as you mentioned that you are pumping a lot of water, i can only assume the skimmer door is missing, or stuck fully open, and the other one is definately submerged and maybe something else as well. it is easy to investigate and figure it out. look in the top access door/clean out and check the flap weir. only surface water should be flowing over it... the inside of your skimmer should have a lower surface height than the pond and the pond water should be flowing into the skimmer box like a tiny waterfall over the skimmer door (flap weir).
