I love it when Chuck goes into the history of these movies and stories. Because of him I read a biography on Blaizdel, and most of this information is in tehre as well. Thanks Chuck!

This is the one sci fi 1950's film that would only come on TV at 2:00 -3:00am when u were asleep back in the 90's it was so rare to be able to watch this especially after always watching Saturday night : "Monster Vision" on AMC & always seeing *The Thing From Another World* & all the others like this film with your dad just to have him tell u about this secret B movie that became legendary but only because u were just too young to stay up late enough to actually be able to watch it ❤️ Its the original midnight movie to me!!!!

I think credit also needs to go to Van Vogt's story "Discord in Scarlet," which was also incorporated into his novel "The Voyage of the Space Beagle." Like "Alien" it involves the alien reproduction cycle.

I like Corman bad films more than modern bad films. His work had a certain charm and integrity. Not artistic integrity, but a kind of respect for the concept of being entertaining and not treating the audience with contempt.

I respect Roger, he made some impressive low budget movies. Bury him at your own risk. It will eat your brains.

Of course, this film isn't one of Roger's. Stating the obvious?

The movie reviews are great to see because it really shows on display the effort and research that went into the behind the scenes.

"IT" was made by independent production company Vogue Pictures. United Artists was just the distributor.

I'm really enjoying this series, Chuck. I grew up on low budget Corman films. While I am more of a fan of the Edgar Allen Poe stuff, this is pretty interesting as well.

So when you cut Harryhausen for budget, you get Beast/Million Eyes and The Giant Claw.

I remember watching a sci fi movie as a kid in the 70s. Probably a 50s movie. Anyway I remember a team of men end up on a planet which couldve been Mercury. I remember on man steps out of the shade of the sun from behind a boulder and gets burnt alive in the sun rolling around in the sand. Anyone know which movie this could be?? Would love to see it again.

Why all this talk about Roger Corman in a review of a non-Corman film? Other low-budget film makers had pioneered----years before he did-----this exploitation sf/horror film genre. Roger didn't innovate or create it, but exploited it the same as others. He just generally did it with a bit more flare.

I respect mr corman, he made a few good quality low budget movie. As a kid, I watched such fair as FIRE MAIDENS OF OUTER SPACE. Pretty scary to a kid, if you suspend logic same with it or PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE.a terrible movie but fun to watch. Ed Wood was delusional but entertaining. Say what you will. I love schlocky movies and mystery science 3000.

Here's my advice. If you're going to play snarky film historian, get your facts right or risk looking like a dope. "They didn't have widescreen in the 1950s" ? Oh, please. Forbidden Planet. The Land Unknown. The Fly. Return of the Fly. The Day Mars Invaded Earth. Beast from Hollow Mountain. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (Super Scope). Horrors of the Black Museum. Frankenstein 1970. Kronos. Queen of Outer Space.
