We travel back in time, thanks to a rare movie that long ago encouraged people to make Austin their new home.

My parents moved to Austin in 1951. Their first house (rented) is still there. It's the white house at the corner of 6th and Mopac. I asked my Mom why they moved from there and she said, "It was so far out - it took too long to get into town".

One thing I noticed is that, throughout most of history during the 1900s, Texas seemed to have been completely unnoticed by the entire US. Most movies and videos you’ll see took place in New York or Los Angeles. Nowadays, modern politics seemed to have put Texas under the spot light with the growing numbers of Californians moving here.

Overturn these terrible zoning rules and the city becomes affordable again and traffic will get better as a side effect of the increased walkability.
