A little Christmas Madness - from a Pacific Proa

Спорт

It is my pleasure to upload this video to my channel. As I have explained, the Madness is not my boat. But the owner and skipper is kind enough to have me onboard from time to time and to let me make youtube vidoes of the outings. I didnt make this video, the skipper did. Most of it is him solo sailing the Madness! There are a few minutes of vidoe shot from a chase boat; I did record that portion of the video.
The Madness is truly a sailing machine. And she is a pleasure to be aboard or to watch as she cuts through the water with little effort!
She can be sailed with two jibs.... one at each end. When 2 jibs are rigged; one is working and the other is lazy. But in this video only one jib is rigged. It has to be shifted from one end to the other each time the Madness shunts (or tacks).
Hope you enjoy the video. I did.

holy camera angles batman! great work! very interesting for a proa obsessed! thanks for putting the GPS on the selfie stick, now I see how effortlessly it can go 10 knots! I would not have guessed it was that speed just from the video

The Madness is not my boat. but it's speed is really deceptive. it is so smooth through the water.

How big were the swells at mark 3:06? The boat almost submarined but punched through nevertheless.

Response from her captain: Waves were 3-4'....closer to 3, I'd say... At the time your on the boat you do not realize the effect of the waves or the amount of penetration by the hulls....it is a smooth and totally under control ride. Only later on reviewing the video do you see the amount the bow cuts into the waves....

@@sailingin-tuitionwithchuck I love the complete lack of nervous pitching often seen in boats going up the steep short chop. I think this would be a great minimalistic boat for fast cruising on the Adriatic sea.
