The 30-years war was not so much a war between protestants and catholics as between the Habsburgers and the Bourbons, just fought by proxy. Austria-Spain fighting France in Germany. On the surface it seemed like a religious war, but dig deeper and see that ugly beast of European 'royalty' rear its head.

Fuck peace, humans are a violent race, we thrive in war, and we will fight till no one is left to die. The way that the world is today? The Muslims waging their 'holy' war on the West with cowards tactics, the Russians acting up, the Chinese militarizing? We will find ourselves holding a 'sword' soon enough, I for one cannot wait.......it's what we are all made for.

@@drmoist4600 THAT, right there is what I'm talking about. Man uses his innate fear of not having a scapegoat when his lust for destruction, rapine, and murder, that he first imagines an entity that is pure evil, and then has that entity become the embodiment of everything that is 'wrong in him. At the same time mankind creates an entity that sits in judgment of everything and is outside of his control, this second entity becomes god. This is religion, and lazy men and women then use this to force the rest of mankind into molds that are the ultimate ideal of man. But man can never attain that ideal or he will then be outside of some religions absolute control. At this moment, there are at LEAST a dozen primary religions in the world. Each one stating that they are the ONE TRUE BELIEF. Three are copies of each other, two are so much "A PART OF THIS WORLD" that their temples drip with the wealth they have driven their followers to make, or better yet steal from another group, and then Force every other person, under the guise of free will, to follow their small minded rules and regulations, and that any choice no matter how small that does not march in lockstep with what they force down the throats of EVERYONE, that you will die and deserve death not just in this world but that a soul or spirit will die for all eternity in the world after death. Religion has been used as a way for lazy sob's to justify killing each other, but they don't kill each other, they get others to fight and die instead of them doing it, because they are simply too important and too busy and too divine and righteous to fight and die. Humanity has been slaughtering men, women, children, animals and anything it deems as 'different' for so long that outside of beating itself up for failures of some type, that killing, theft, and torture, are its greatest occupation. At one time, men had two occupations: creating their civilization and defending it from those who couldn't create anything but chaos and destruction. Or as was said in the 300, "Sparta, what is your occupation? " America, what is your occupation? We are the world's gunfighter. Britain was until WW2, they gave that mantle to the US. Israel used its religion to murder people who were happily tending land they were born on simply because Israel saw land that it left at least 1000 years ago as still theirs because some demented lunatic in their past said that 'this chunk of dirt is yours now and forever. Israel and the three insane belief structures it spawned is the root cause that mankind is the only animal that goes out of its way to slaughter hundreds, thousands, millions, of its own members, from reasons so stupid, that only the insane justify them. Creating Israel was and is no great accomplishment, because religion is mankinds limiter. Let's do away with it and see how great we can become.

@@WolverineXOXO uh huh, the Muslims were invading the world right. Guess the world is just Anatolia now. Oh, and I guess if you're trying to defend Byzantium and Anatolia you do that by annexing the levant. Oh, and what happened to that one crusade that ended up sacking the city of Constantinople? Or those other crusades in the north that genocided the pagans. That one was purely defensive I'm sure. Oh, and the massacre of Jerusalem was also defensive I suppose. Why not throw the Jews into the mix too am I right? Edit: let's not forgot who leads wars. The nobles and leaders of armies and countries. And those for sure had a choice. And that wasn't borne out of kindness and empathy for others, bar a few. They had something to gain from it. And what does the brutality and consequences of war fall onto? The commonsfolk. Also if you knew any history or anything about this song you'd know it's about the thirty-years war, which was absolutely brutal and horrible. And it was a war of Christians versus Christians. Nothing to do with "world conquering Muslims"...

And the most deep thing is that the song fades. The song is like the soldier, forgotten, a statistic. Sure the King/Leader goes home. So do the lords. But the men. What about them. We learn of the Kings and Conquerors and Presidents. We never learn of the warriors. Never their lives. Never the plight of their wives. What were their stories? What? What was the price of the conquest? What was the price of defending liberty? What was the reaction of the orphan when the sergeant told him daddy was never coming home. The true price, the true currency of war, is men. Young men. Young boys. And this is for every side, good or bad. The common man never goes home. The soldier _doesn't_ get a worthy end. He doesn't earn glory. He dies, for what is just. What he believes is just. Every man is a pawn for the elites. A statistic. But he doesnt fight for the shitty government. He fights so you can lay your head down at night and sleep. And he isn't jealous that he is in a trench, and you are in that bed. He is glad, and he fights for you, mine and his people. And that is why, I honour the veterans throughout history, now and forever will do. Autistic 15 year old, 2021

The song is about the thirty years war. This video however, is about the meaningless bloodshed that has taken place due to religion throughout the history of mankind. "It spreads like disease, no sign of peace, religion and greed, 'cause millions to bleed". I find the theme and message of this song more interesting than it's storytelling. That's why I chose the crusades. If I'd make a thirty years war video I would make it about 'The lion from the north'. Great song, great story!

Fantastic music. The video, on the other hand, contains a mixture of events throughout the centuries, such as symbols of the crusaders and symbols of the order of Christ, clearly seen at the min "4.10 or the minute" 4.26 The shield with the first flag of the kingdom of Portugal , curiously separated in space and history. The important thing is the music, the video is in addition to the theme and should not be seen in any other way or any war in particular.

The templars and crusaders were different crusaders just wanted to kill saracens and retake the holy land but Templars took an oath to protect all pilgrimage to the holy land and protect justice, and that's why I have far more respect for templars. Warriors like lion heart is what separates men from demons.

You're totally right ! To push it even further, I think labelling all crusading soldiers as "crusaders" is using an umbrella term, they had thousands of reasons to take the cross, some weren't knights, some indeed were, rich, poor, some wanted to defend values and such, others were sent there by the pope because he was sick of bickering knights in many regions of France hahah

@ Karl ruprechet Kroenen, You should also respect the crusaders. They ensured that peoples like mine, the Sardines, could be freed from the Muslim oppression that prevented us by the sword from uttering our faith in Jesus Christ, our king and Lord, and enslaved us. So we Sardinian people, one of the first Christian peoples of the world and obviously Catholic. Ignorance of the need for the Crusaders generates bizarre statements like yours. The Protestant and Enlightenment lie about the Church still generates this kind of aberration.

Actually I dont think lionheart was a knight or even a man he order an execution of 2000 small children and women just outside of Acre.Furthermore when his people manage to collect enough money to pay his ransom when he was captured the first thing he did when he came back to England was to encrease the taxes so he can go back to Holy land.He was trying to earn glory and gold not Gods mercy or forgivness, egoistic if you ask me.

I like the Swedish version a bit more. Don't take me wrong, this one is epic by itself, has great lyrics and a deep message. But the other one feels more personal, as if this one emphasizes how war is in general... And the other how war is felt and seen from a man point of view.

Two ways to view the world So similar at times Two ways to rule the world To justify their crimes By kings and queens young men are sent to die in war Their propaganda speaks those words been heard before Two ways to view the world brought Europe down in flames Two ways to rule Has man gone insane A few will remain Who'll find a way To live one more day Through decades of war It spreads like disease There's no sign of peace Religion and greed cause millions to bleed Three decades of war From dawn to dawn they're fighting die where they stand The fog of war lies thick when armies scorch the land When all of Europe is burning what can be done They've been to war a decade two more to come Long way from home (Döpas och dö i strid) Lifetime at war Has man gone insane A few will remain Who'll find a way To live one more day Through decades of war It spreads like disease There's no sign of peace Religion and greed cause millions to bleed Three decades of war When they face death they're all alike No right or wrong Rich or poor No matter who they served before Good or bad They're all the same Rest side by side now Has man gone insane A few will remain Who'll find a way To live one more day Through decades of war It spreads like disease There's no sign of peace Religion and greed cause millions to bleed Three decades of war Has man gone insane A few will remain Who'll find a way To live one more day Through decades of war It spreads like disease There's no sign of peace Religion and greed cause millions to bleed Three decades of war
