    Super video!! Thanks. I’ve read that for newbies it’s better to put the jug in the freezer. I don’t see you suggesting that. Should I learn with the jug at room temp? Thanks again

  • @iBarista

    @iBarista

    4 жыл бұрын

    Jorge Elizondo You’re welcome! You could freeze the jug if you find that you need the extra bit of time, it buys you an extra few seconds. It really comes down to personal preference and the steaming power of your machine. But what I suggest is using the bigger jug instead of a small one with the water and soap method and when mastered switch to a small jug. It’ll give you a faster learning curve (personal experience).

    Great vid to show what the incorrect foam results like. Thanks! Anyway suggestion to practice the latte art with the soapy foam? Other than real coffee.

  • @iBarista

    @iBarista

    Thank you! The soap trick is purely for practicing your steaming technique without wastage. For practicing latte art I’d suggest using powdered milk (or regular milk) and instead of espresso shots use coffee grounds. So what you do is; -fill the jug with water and add (enough) powdered milk and steam it like normal. -In the cup you add 1 heaped teaspoon of coffee grounds and add a little of the steamed milk and swirl/stir it. -Pour your latte art. -Then dump everything back in the pitcher. - add spoon of coffee, add a bit of milk and pour again. If you do this quickly you can easily do this 10 to 15 times before the milk goes flat. Cheap and fast :)

    @@iBarista nice! I've been using regular milk and cocoa powder. How much powdered milk did you have to add for it to be close enough? Wondering I can save some milk using this technique :D

  • @iBarista

    @iBarista

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@ktsung91I’d would sugfest around 1 big heaped tablespoon per 150-200 ml water. Never tried reusing instant milk but with this technique. But it’s cheap enough and low in wastage. Regular milk I know for sure you can reuse. 👍🏼

    Hello, may i know how many bars does your linea mini steam set to? I found mine a bit too strong at 1,3 bar. Thanks !

  • @iBarista

    @iBarista

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi! Mine is currently set at around 1,6 bar. If you find the pressure a bit too high you can lower it by accessing the upper panel and you will see the pressure-stat screw for the steam boiler on the left. Each quarter turn changes the pressure by about 0,1 bar. But be careful not to lower it to much or else the steam doesn’t have enough power to whirlpool the milk and you will have a very coarsely textured milk. I suggest to keep practicing with water and soap and try different angles with the steam wand first and maybe larger quantities of liquid.

    I see that is still higher than mine. Will practice first at 1,5 bar. Thankyou for sharing!
