A junk wax era baseball card worth $200,000?!? Comparing PSA 10 values of Derek Jeter rookie cards!
Спорт
Derek Jeter had more than a dozen rookie cards released in 1993, the heart of the junk wax era, and the SP from that year has an insanely low gem mint rate with PSA, and last sold for more than $200,000! What are the other Jeter rookies worth, and how frequently do they gem?

JWH Love the production value of this video- especially the strategically placed visual aids- shades of Chris Sewall! Hats off to Score’s 2003 quality control efforts for producing all those tens. If only Jeter was as flamboyant and fiery as Jack Morris- right? Lol

I have over 400 jeters rookies, my biggest pc! My favorite is a 92 little sun auto!
i have that 93 sp jeter, got it in a $15 lot of cards, along with thousands of junk wax era cards back in september when i knew nothing about cards. still have it and dont plan on selling anytime soon. another great video Mike!

I really like the 1993 Pinnacle RC. Tough grade with that all black border. Great video, thank you.

I have a Pinnacle card but never graded it because of the borders and the chipping. Probably a 7 or a 6. Not a Yankees fan either. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Not really a fan of his rookie cards, but I have a 2004 Heritage Refractor that’s probably my favorite card of his. That year used the 1955 Topps design which is my favorite set design, looks great as a refractor

Oooo not sure how I missed that. Or forgot that.
I have a Jeter SP….somewhere. I know it isn’t a 10 but we moved twice since I got it in mid 90’s and I think I need to look a little harder now 😂
I never used to like him but what changed my mind was the mere fact that a couple people I used to know randomly ran into him back when he was still playing. They both said he was exceptionally nice to them. One person saw Jeter and A Rod at a bar. He just wanted to say hi and according to him both of them were super nice and engaged him in a conversation. Like those guys are not, that was still pretty descent of them.
I remember a game. the Yankees had a guy on 1st. Jeter hit a ball on the ground - he was out, and the player on 1st went to 2nd. the next player up hit a long fly ball and the runner on 2nd scored - the Yankees won 1 to 0 - he was boring, but a winner. If Jeter had played in a small market, his greatness may not have been so widely heralted. The 1993 SP are really nice
Great video as always! I enjoyed the Jeter documentary and bought a few of his cards after watching it. I’m easily influenced I guess lol. The 93 SP is my favorite and I assume it’s the universally accepted #1 key rookie card of the decade.

My favorite is the stadium club. I had a box on my attic for years I got when I was a kid. Sent it in and got a 10! Love it
I was never really a Jeter fan but did appreciate the way he played the game and how he interacted with his fans. I don't have any of his rookie cards but have started collecting a few late 90's inserts of his.

I have a pretty decent raw copy of the '93 SP Jeter. I think I bought it for $50 or so back in '98 or '99? I'm also one of the few people that probably thinks Jeter is UNDERRATED. He's the last truly great shortstop we've had! Played his entire 20 year career at short, not moving to 3rd, outfield, etc. 3,400 hits! 14x All Star/5 Gold Gloves! And Postseason? 158 Games / 200 hits / 20 HRs / .308 BA

The sp foil rookie has edge chipping, on all of them even fresh from the pack. Thats why there is no 10s. Ive graded at least 10 and gotten 8s and 9s, which is still a profit.

The 93’ Jeter SP rookie is the best base card of the 90’s. At least that’s what we all agreed on during a livestream I was on with Dylan- Double D Vintage. Personally it’s my favorite set from that era. Thanks for another great video Mike. Subscriber for life even if you hate Jeter.

I'm surprised the 93 Topps gem rate is so low -- I've graded out a couple 10s myself
If you were to compile a list of the top 10 factory sealed sets (traded sets/ the rookies/ updates included) to buy from the junk wax era, what would they be and why? I recently got back into collecting and realized there are so many sets/ updates that as a kid in that era, I never knew about.

1984 Fleer Update would be number one update. 1993 Upper Deck SP probably number one set. I gave this literally zero thought though. Maybe a good video topic.

I recently purchased a 1993 Topps Baseball Series 1 & 2 complete set unopened for $150 Canadian. My question is why would the seller, knowing that Derek Jeter's Rookie card graded PSA 10 goes for about $350. I think there's a good chance it's in mint gem condition which is why I bought it. The set also come with 10 Topps Gold cards and the Jeter could be quite valuable if it's in there. Was this a good buy?

I’m not sure what you’re trying to convince me of here. I don’t disagree with any of that.
As a whole, no! Can’t be compared to junk wax. 90s didn’t have serialized cards, autos, 1/1 and RPAs. I don’t know why people even compare. Not even close to the same. Not too mention all the different types of sets out there too collect. There is a limit to how many autos a player can sign. Yes they can sign a lot but not nearly as many as the cards they printed in the 90s. Buy autos, ssp, rpa, low serial numbers, rare inserts. They will always have a value. Base cards, they can 100% be compared to 90s cards. 90s cards are like todays base set cards. Junk wax.
I feel like your hate of Jeter comes from being a Red Sox fan

There’s nothing wrong with Derek Jeter Rookie Card.you’ll regret it for the rest of your life and you’ll regret it later on in your life that you wish you didn’t say it.because Derek is the only player who has 4 years of his rookie card.93,94,95, and 96.
Jeter is very overrated as a player, and his cards are insanely overvalued. He was definitely an above average hitter, but not outstanding. 310 lifetime BA is good but not hall of fame worthy on its own. Defensively he was one of the worst shortstops to play in the last 30 years. Hall of fame worthy? Maybe, or maybe not. If you removed his popularity and the yankees from the equation it would have been close but no way he would have been a 1st ballot shoe in. Put him on the padres instead and with his stats he would have struggled to make it into the hof.
