A Journey Through Faith @ Exploring Luang Phor Up of Wat Thong Sai

Luang Phor Up was born on August 12th, 1921, and when he turned 20, he decided to become a monk and was ordained at Wat Thong Noi, in Ayutthaya Province, and then he practiced at Wat Thong Sai. He spent his next nine years living and learning at Wat Thong Sai. After that, he embarked on a special journey called "Thudong," which involved traveling and living in mountains, forests, and different temples to practice alone, during which he met famous masters and learned secret methods. From there, he traveled to Tibet and other places to learn and practice with famous monks as teachers for many years, until he eventually returned to Wat Thong Sai in 1965.
After 23 years of hard training, Luang Phor Up spiritual journey across Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar. Luang Phor Up sought guidance from revered masters. During this long journey, he eagerly sought wisdom and knowledge from esteemed spiritual practitioners. Luang Phor Up not only honed his spiritual prowess but also developed a keen understanding of traditional medicine. He diligently absorbed knowledge from a multitude of practitioners and doctors, becoming well-versed in the healing properties of herbs and various time-tested remedies.
This expertise drew many devotees to him, seeking his guidance and treatment for their physical ailments. However, Luang Phor Up's influence extended far beyond the realm of medicine. He possessed a remarkable ability to craft potent amulets imbued with the power to attract wealth and charm. Finally, at the age of 43, Luang Phor Up returned to Wat Thong Sai, the temple that had witnessed his early steps on the path of monastic life. There, he was bestowed with the esteemed role of abbot, signifying the deep respect and trust his fellow monks held for him.
