Hello Friends,
I am back with a new video.
It's all about Jazz, Jazz, Jazz.

introduction for Jazz beginners.
Let me know what you think about my selection.
Thanks for watching :)

Can’t leave out the 🚂
This is a great selection for someone first getting into jazz. I've had various jazz records in my collection since the 1960s (some Weather Report, Vince Guaraldi, Duke Ellington), but around 2003 I listened to my girlfriend's (now wife) Kind of Blue CD, which I really liked. While I had the flu, I had a feverish dream I was buying a copy of Brubeck's Time Out, which I bought shortly after. These two albums kindled my serious interest in jazz, and I started seeking out others. Within a short time, I had a few dozen CDs, including seven of the titles on your list. Later came Coltrane, Mingus, Monk, Billie Holliday, Sarah Vaughn, et al. (and now almost exclusively on vinyl). Good video for someone whetting their appetite for jazz! (It surprises me that several commenters missed the point of this video by bringing up Coltrane's A Love Supreme and other artists such as Shorter, Mingus, Parker and Hancock. Those artists are a little more challenging for music lovers who have no knowledge of jazz. It took me a while to warm up to those artists, so the selection in the video is a great start jazz newbies. Coltrane, Shorter, Monk, Mingus and Parker are gems for them to discover when they want to get further into jazz.)

I do not own any of these albums, and I basically only listen to Jazz music.
Nice choices. I'd add John Coltrane - Blue Train. It's a true classic and a good entry-point for new listeners.

Just watched this video again after a few years. I have finally purchased my first turntable and I am now in search for every single one of these records. Thanks for putting this list together. It took me a few years to finally give in and buy a turntable but, this is the video that got me thinking about it in the first place. So l, thanks again!
The great João Gilberto is in the list. I'm proud to see a brazilian legend there.

By the same token 'A Kind Of Blue' should be more a Bill Evans record.
Wow, that turntable! It is incredible! Thank you for this video!
Agree about the Sony Legacy version of 'Kind of Blue'. It's a great pressing.
Your passion for this art form is a beautiful thing.
Great Jazz !.....Thanks for sharing
I'm coming round to your house ! A beautiful introduction to classic jazz and ten perfect choices for a starter kit. What a lovely guy too. I'm really glad I watched your video.
Your videos makes me happy man. I'll listen to your recommendations and i'm sure they will be good as usual.
Nice to see you back, great beard. I had forgotten about the Pink Panther soundtrack, great jazz record, listening to it now. Thanks for the reminder. Other choices were very solid ones as well, I never knew Chet Baker sang as well, going to give that one a listen as well.
I’m a JAZZ beginner ❤️ nice video :-) LOS ÁNGELES CALIFORNIA LOVE JAZZ
Thank you for your advice, I have started buying vinyl albums thanks to your video! :) Jazz is not my favorite music guys, but when you hear all the instruments and musicality of Jazz through a descent stereo system, on vinyl and with a tube preamplifier, it will blow your mind guys!
Your narratives are absolutely exceptional. Your passion for the genre is evident through and through.
I've been collecting a lot of the old Blue Note records on CD. Love them.
I have 7 of 10 in my personal collection. Thanks for sharing!
Lovely guy, i wish i had seen this video when i stared getting into jazz. Which was only a couple of years ago and i'm over 300 albums in. Highly addictive music that touches your soul like no other music, Great choices :)
Thank you so much for your recommendations. I'll check 'em all!

Take a listen to Barry White`s former guitarist Jazz musician Emmett North Jr. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iKeZ0tWKgKjTYqw.html
Hey mate I took your advice and bought Mike's Davis a kind of blue, my god it is absolutely superb, it's brilliant the music has a beauty of it I don't come across to often and the phrasing, dynamics etc just evoke a sweet and emotive musical message to the listener. Took me 18 years of listening to jazz to find what I was looking for, so thanks, your the real deal jazz aficionado.
Definitely a good start, and the comments below provide some great suggestions on what to add to these 10. This really is a real beginner’s list with “accessible” selections. Nice to see.
I wanted to say THANK YOU! I've been a "digital" audiophile all my life. One day my wife said "...maybe we should get a turntable?" I have a Mcintosh C50, B&W CM-10 S2, Emotiva XPA Gen3 three-channel, and it was suggested that I needed to spend >$2k to get a sufficient turntable. However, I didn't own a single album :( So I bought a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon (DC) just to dip our toes into analog. I found this video and I have to say that we have purchased many of your top-10 and they are perfect for why we embraced analog. Thanks for taking the time to share your passion -- your enthusiasm is inspiring. Cheers from Philadelphia, USA (Go Eagles) !
This is wonderful to see and surely very helpful for the uninitiated and I presume mainly younger folks just getting into vinyl.
Some legendary albums there.
Love your passion. Those are great examples of some really good Jazz. Thank you for the video.
Just got it recommend in 2022. Such a great channel. Awesome to rewatch these videos 😊
Excellent video - great album choice - essential listening I think.
Excellent video! Excellent recommendations! You were able to recommend some not so predictable records, and I picked up a couple of them. Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you so much, this is just what I was looking for to get started. I am really enjoying listening to these selections.
I like your enthusiasm a lot. You make it so interesting. Thank you.
Thank you for this video. Showing the book was a very good idea. Jazz on man !
Excellent choice of records, cannot argue with any of the picks. Also a very inspired and enthusiastic presentation. Well done!

A pleasure watching your videos, I really feel your enthusiasm and passion.
That was such a lovely video. Loved the songs playing in the background. Thank you for making this!
My wife first heard jazz in Chicago on our anniversary many years ago. Von Freeman was the first live jazz we ever heard. He not only got us hooked on jazz, but our kids also listen to jazz because of the Von Freeman CDs we played.
Great Videos and fine vinyl presentation for Jazzfans!
Thanks ever so much, great selection, thank you.
As always, your videos are excellent and you have great taste. Although I will say, that Love Supreme is my favorite Jazz LP. Thank you for the great video, please make more soon.
As an American who is wanting to start exploring jazz it is interesting that a German was such a big help. Very good video.
Thank you for a great list. I started exploring and appreciating jazz a few years ago. I wish I had started when I was younger. I enjoy watching album recommendation lists. Even with beginner lists I sometimes find artists I hadn't listened to yet. The '50s and '60s were great decades. But don't overlook earlier recordings. I recently acquired the Columbia Masterworks 1950 release of the Benny Goodman 1938 famous Carnegie Hall jazz concert. Even with the surface noise from the original acetate masters it's amazing.
hey Man...i have the same book in english and you are right its great, i love the back bit with the albums and all the different genres. im 56 and i grew up on rock music but over the last 15/20 years ive been gradually getting into jazz, im a huge record collector, both rock and jazz....enjoyed your video take it easy
Good to see back. Always enjoy your videos and love this topic.
Love this list! I've seen lists that have albums like A Love Supreme and Black Saint and the Sinner Lady in them, and while I think those are essential jazz albums they can be daunting listens for people who are new to the genre. I think the records you laid out here are perfect choices for beginners :)
Excellent list! I would also recommend Art Blakey's Moanin'

To me that's the greatest hard bop album of all time.
Hi, I bought a few of these on cd on the strength of your recommendation. I've been totally blown away by the Kenny Burrell; Midnight Blue.....wow, what an album and completely new to me. Thanks :)
Superb video and great advice. Went to charity shop this morning and was fortunate to pick up Getz/Gilberto LP, which I never knew about until I saw your video. Superb record, loving the mix of jazz & boss nova. Thanks again :-)
I love your enthusiasm. Keep up the good work!
I just love this video. You've done us all a real service, my friend. Thanks!
Awesome list.
Great primer, Armien. Nothing to say about your choices - all great stuff.
guess how much cherished the video brought to a newbie who wanna begin their jazz journey:-)
Wonderfully interesting video
Interesting and engaging video. Excellent.
That was so unexpected to start with the Pink Panther!! I love it! Great, great, great selection sir!! Your channel is awesome! :) Ps: Can't wait for the next set up tour (room tour)
Just started collecting jazz- I purchased Time Out, Getz/Gilberto, Kind of blue, all from Analog Sounds about a month ago. I also got Tony Bennett live at Carnegie Hall. I will go through you list and see which I like and start adding more. I will be buying some classical RCA Red Seal and some 1960-70's rock.
Going to be linking this video in the comments of my next video, hope that is ok. You were the inspiration for me buying the Miles Davis "kind of Blue" album. Keep up the excellent videos.
Excellent picks! As a drum instructor, I always assign "Soul Station" by Hank Mobley to all of my students that are interested in jazz. It's a great all around jazz record that covers everything from ballads to hard swinging numbers.
Good idea! Thank you!
Great video Armien !! Looking forward to Parts 2 + 3 .. Frohe Ostern !! Jimmy ...
Very nice choices for new jazz fans
Holy platters! Look at that TT!
Great intro : danke schön!
What a fantastic video thanks .
Great recommendations.
Thanks Armien for this nice video. Very difficult to introduce in jazz and this "must have" advice from VC like you it's always welcome. Very good choices. Take care. Fred
Danke Armien, für dieses sehr interessante und hilfreiche Video. Das Buch werde ich mir wohl bestellen 👍
Nice vinyl collection I want to get in to jazz music
Thank you very much for this video! Been enjoying jazz for 2 years and I completely agree with you, nice recommendations)) I, personally, would also add Sarah Vaughan as a female jazz singer to complete this list )
Great stuff thanks for sharing!
Nice video. Good to get a reminder about Kenny Burrell - always meant to get to know his music. Midnight Blue sounds like a good starting point.
What a GREAT video. Enjoyed this tremendously.
Hi, this is a very good choice for beginners. About the Horace Silver: Bluenote made a reissue of that album last year. Super quality, not expensive! Hope you're doing fine, as you stopped with your channel I guess. Thanks for the work you've done and greetings from Switzerland - Reto
Thanks for this, I have been wanting to get into jazz records
3 on 7 my honor is quite safe and sound but I have to improve that. Great selection and most important thank you for these tips.
Great recomendations
I noticed Sonny Clark's Cool Struttin' on your shelf. a fantastic jazz album. A Love supreme as well. What great albums you have.
Best channel on youtube
Great list
This is wonderful! Keep up posting these great vids!
Your passion for jazz is really great to see, awesome video!
Great video Armien! I hope your will make more videos about jazz
Brilliant video, like all those before. I'll look into getting my hands on some of these. :)
Awesome list. Getz/Gilberto, Dave Brubeck pink panther my favourites. I also love miles Davis in a silent way although I can see that it might not be for beginners.
Great introduction video ! I have been a jazz fanatic for the last 38years and I agree with 99 per cent of your choices. The only one i'm not crazy about is Chet Baker, I find that when he sings, he sounds like he is about to go to sleep ! :) I'ts great to know that one more person has joined the ranks of jazz lovers, my congratulations from Canada !

Thanks, great video, really enjoyed your recommendations, big fan of you!
I quite enjoy your videos! Hope we might hear and see more from you some time in the future!
hi armin! a very nice selection for beginners. i will check out that vocal album, don't know it yet. i would like to recommend additionally another great of the genre: john coltrane. his album "ballads" is an easy listening. for example, my girlfriend is not into jazz at all, but she can connect to that album because it is so smooth, slow and beautiful. another good choice for beginners, who want to get a little deeper into the genre, would be "awakening" by the ahmad jamal trio or other albums with just a piano and a rhythm section. this instrumentation provides inmany cases a non-hectic sound, more on the melodic and slower side, what makes them an easier approach for beginners in my oppinion. good to see you posting videos again. i look forward to the next one :) schöne grüße aus hamburg! - peter
Great Video as always - "The Talented Mr. Ripley" movie also got me in to Chet Baker - great movie and great artist.
Great recommendations! Thanks for putting this video together.
Another fantastic and interesting video mate. Jazz is definitely one genre I haven't been able to get into. Will definitely have a listen to some of he albums you suggested. Thanks mate.
Great video. Nice picks
Hi from Israel, I loved that video.
That is a really great list! I might sub out "The Jody Grind" for "Song For My Father" myself but I think you nailed it!
thanks for the recommendations
Nice recommendations Armien, some I actually haven't heard yet, will check them out! :D I only own Kind of Blue out of these :) I have been on the lookout for Song for My Father.... maybe I should get a japanese pressing, was hunting the Music Matters one, but that seems impossible, hah. I'd add Wayne Shorter into the easily accessible category. Wayne Shorter - Juju is the first jazz album I actually connected with; I wasn't big on jazz before this :) also recently want to own more Dexter Gordon and a Tina Brooks album after hearing Theme for Doris, hah. so much jazz to discover... I've just been basing my choices on what jumps out at me from sites and friends :)
Interesting selections - I'll have to check out the few I don't already own!

Btw I'm still on the lookout for a Classic Records copy of KOB. I do have an original US stereo 1958 Columbia 6-eye, but it's just VG in quality.
