A.J. & Ingrid Croce - Hey Tomorrow

A.J. Croce: My mother who once had so much to say, has been rendered speechless by speech aphasia. Amazingly, she can still sing beautifully. “Hey Tomorrow” was written by my parents, and ended up on my dad’s first album.

When I was in junior high school, our principal presented a slide show of Jim and his music shortly after his passing. I will never forget it ❤

@rodragonfly1134 Except that Jim Croce could never have written and play a masterpiece like Laguna Sunrise.

She collaborated on the original version, which was a flop. Jim rewrote the original into this version and it was recorded as the final track of the "You Don't Mess Around with Jim" album. At that time Ingrid's name was removed from the writing credit and history recorded Jim as the sole song writer.

I couldn’t stop crying. I grew up on his songs because my parents had all his albums . I visited the top hat bar and grille in the 90’s because I wanted to meet Ingrid. She wasn’t there that day but she did return an email that I sent her. I’m going to see you play in October and I can’t wait. Thank you for doing this❤❤❤❤

A song of honest introspection and resonates the kind soul of the croce’s. The lyrics and melody are reflections of gratitude, remorse, and hope. AJ manages to be himself but he is unmistakably Croce. Just beautiful.

This brought back memories and tears. The first sign of my daughter's illness was speech aphasia, followed by FTLD and ALS. We lost her 11 years ago. So glad A.J. has found a way to break through the aphasia, even if for a brief time. Trust me, those moments are precious.

I saw four years back at the library in Rockland County. If you did this one, it would have broken my heart. Look in on Mom. Sorry to hear about the aphasia situation. If there is no cure, find a viable remedy. Singing is a good way.

I think the line is a bit too full of self pity and should be changed to "I've been taken care of by those to me." - which is so true of so much in life. We are taken care of far more than we are taken advantage of - but we miss it because we choose self pity over gratitude.

when jim traveled performed with his young wife, they toured extensively, and returned completely broke...it was a complete failure, and i can see why...later the mother's boyfriend blinded AJ and he ended up with sight in only one eye....she was a walking disaster...
