Man those few chapters of punpun and aiko on the run hit me the hardest. I mean while reading those chapters I couldn't feel anything but pity, because you are essentially watching a sad attempt of two broken people trying desperately to act out what little they have left of some fantasy... which was a pipe dream to begin with... and as you read, you know exactly how this is all gonna end, like you're on one of those super slow trains that drive around the mall but it's only going straight and you can see exactly where it's taking you... to despair.

They could've avoided it by calling the police and explaining the whole thing, the police will definitely find out that the Mother is abusive because literally everyone knows about it, and both of them will not get sentenced. It felt really forced to just drive the story to last part, very very frustrating to read.

Now I am 26, and I'm reading it for the second time, and I found this amv again. I don't know why, I don't know how, but Life timed it perfectly. " 10 years from now, what would I become ?" That's what I thought after finishing the manga. A lot has changed, I lost a lot, I also discovered a lot. I've experienced many joys but also pains. But I'm glad to be here again. I miss when life seemed so mysterious, I miss people who I thought would still be here today. But overall my life has changed for the better.

@@koala101100 You didnt understand much imo and its understandable, this manga is pretty deep. I just dont think Aiko has any fault at all and I will explain why and you can also have a better insight on Punpun. There are two key things that lead up to this mess for both, Punpun and Aiko! Yeah two different characters but both of them were affected by the same things! 1) Shitty parents and 2) No Friends None of their parents helped them to build a better perceptions of the world, what are the limits, what is wrong, etc. None of them had a figure to follow and their parents were totally ***heads. On both cases, they had to build a perception of the world all alone while also growing up which makes things even worse as a kid. ' And second point was also revealed at the last chapter, were one of his old "friends" thought of what he could ask to his class? He was a teacher now. Asking about friendships and how important they are? or about goals in their lifes? This is literally the mangaka telling us how much difference their lifes could have been if they were asked another thing rather than the trivial crap of goals. Maybe they could be more sociable and fix their errors later on with the help of friends or how to even communicate their feelings with other people, but due to those two key points things got even worse combined if you think about it.

Aiko wasn't has enough information after the event at middle school, and then she came back to just when Punpun tries to change himself into another person to communicate with other people (which is really bad for him because he doesn't want to do it). Then she reveals her broken crappy life with her crazy mom, when Punpun want to help her i just... feel happy, i really happy for her and then everything happened. Aiko doesn't deserves this, she has enough of this and at the end, she want Punpun live a happy life, a life that she really want to live in. Even she doesn't have much introduced as much as Punpun, but she still holds a really deep spot in my heart. Maybe Punpun can not forget about her, but at least Punpun has less worry about her to keep going on his journey. P/s: sorry because of my bad english, but i really want to share my feeling about Aiko, and i just want to ask a last question Aiko deserves a good life, doesn't she ?

I just want Aiko to live a happy life, she never had it since childhood. Even in the end, Punpun was very hostile towards her, I hated Punpun for that, he is aware of his self-centered personality and never thought of Aiko's position, I think Punpun's character lacks development, despite the contrast of his childhood and early adulthood. Aiko too never changed, still stuck at home and abused, it is very realistic but the character design is kind of flawed. I definitely will never forget Aiko

After first reading the manga in 2016, here I am again… Life has been hard. I really thought things would be better this time, but it wasn’t. My mom is almost exactly like Aiko’s mom. Very strict and religious. Now that we’re still in quarantine in my country, things have gotten worse than ever. Everyday, I wonder what would happen if I leave my mom. Some part of me feels guilty because she won’t have anyone else to rely on if I leave. She’s very old and she never had a job so she doesn’t have retirement money. I feel pressured to care for her during her retirement but the thing is, I never had the freedom to do the things that I want up until now. Ive never experienced sleeping over at a friend’s house, going out of town with friends, or even just hanging out with friends beyond my curfew. Im 23 and she still enforces the same rules on me.. it’s honestly driving me crazy. I dont know whether i should run away or kill myself. Anyways, idk why im rambling here, i hope all of you are doing better.

If that's the case, maybe a light of hope would be to plan for the future (getting a job and an appartment), make yourself a path and inform your mother in advance of your intentions. She has a duty to make her best to let you go, it is time to fly your wings. And as Punpun who thought there was no way out, there will be people that will appear to help you :) It is sometimes important to be selfish, especially when it is clearly the other one that acts in a selfish way. Good luck and we love you

There's no specific reason stated, I think it's meant to show his loss of innocence as he ages, since the manga centers around that theme, and white represents purity; well black represents, well, darkness.

@@bailey2866 I always thought it represented intention and state of mind. Sometimes his head is huge with devil horns, that is when he is being evil and manipulating, but then later he will go back to being his birdie self when he is trying to do the right thing, or just trying to live his life.

you know I prefer a lot more Sachi than Aiko because I think that like all the suffer of punpun its because of aiko (and its kind of true) but you know everyone thinks different

I've always seen Sachi as kind of the moon and Aiko as the night sky.. Like Sachi was Punpuns healthiest relationship and she made him want to try better.. Aiko sort of represented all the darkness in Punpun's life and is sort of the reason his depression kept coming back.. Aiko made him remember all the bad in his life and Sachi made him want to get over it.. Aiko's cute and a good character but I also like Sachi more haha

***** I understand all that but I wasn't talking about the girl's situations or how mentally stable they are.. I was talking about their relationship with punpun. I could even say now that what you just said about Sachi contributes even more to how she was the healthier relationship. Punpun saw Sachi and how she has everything somewhat together despite what she had gone through and it made him want to support her and also become a better person himself. When punpun was with Sachi he forgot his depression and came out of his shell. I'm not hating on Aiko though she really is a tragic character and like you said I sympathize with her. I was just stating that she wasn't good for punpun.

I would argue that Sachi was in no way a healthy (although most definitely healthIER than Aiko) relationship, since she treats Punpun like a pet and enjoys the security of having someone dependant on her. If you´re familiar with FLCL Mamimi Samejima´s concept of "Takkun", there´s really no better way to describe it; furthermore, she needs absolute control in the relationship
