    He was, indeed. This isn't the real Tesla coil though if you have to be protected with an iron suit (which means the 'lightning' in this video has amps). Tesla could come into continuous contact with the plasma he generated because of it's safe-nature (not amps, only volts).

    You guys are CARAZY!!! Lightning struck 3 feet from me and my dog...it struck the tree right next to us. I remember how it smelled like ozone and my dog Shasta who was long haired looked like a German shepard puffball blur as she ran away, I couldn't run fast enough my ears were ringing from the thunderclap which occurred simultaneously with the lightning. I would never put myself in lightning for nothing, unless I wanted to die...quickly.

    Something tells me that Mr. Tesla the Inventor of the Tesla Coil didn't really have the whole musical Tesla Coil thing in mind at the time he invented it. I don't think he would dislike it but none the less I really think he had other intentions to build this coil for. Try not to take your eye off the ball here and try to figure out how to increase wireless power transmission distance that was his main goal with this invention not to show and play music with lightning to an audience....

    Should've played some music by metallica from thier "Ride The Lightening" album. Also you should come to florida in the middle of summer in the afternoon after about 3 o'clock when we get one of our typical summertime afternoon thunderstorms. (Just Kidding) but we are considered "The Lightening Capitol of The World" here in florida. We do get some terrible lightening here though. I've seen it destroy some electronics.

    This great, but next time would it be possible for you to have a small camera "inside" the wire helmet? Or would there be some kind of electrical imbalance that could create a hazard? If if could be done with 100% safety it would be very interesting to see this from your perspective.

    Question: has anyone ever tried and/or succeeded in catching a lightning strike and storing the electricity from it in a battery? I think this is something you and your crew could make happen. If you can imagine the amount of “free” electricity that could be harvested it’s infinite.

  • @zaydabbas1609

    @zaydabbas1609

    6 жыл бұрын

    Sicknasty FPV it would be easy to an extent, a long pole connected to a capacitor connected to ground. But lightning strikes are millions of volts and you would need to put a ton of capacitors in series, but in doing so the capacitance would decrease. Maybe a couple aluminum plates layered with a peice of glass in between.

  • @sicknastyfpv6060

    Right definitely, storage seems to be the main problem. If this can be overcome that would be the key.

    Lightnings: insanely high tension (U), enormous intensity (I), insane power (P), *pretty pathetic energy (E)* . They are impressive only because they last for a fragment of a second. Energy released by an average lightning is around what you can get by total oxidation of few litres of gasoline. It's one of the common myths that lightnings would be useful to catch and store, myth that arises from people not understanding what is power and what is energy.

    I've pondered it, but I don't think we have the right technology just yet to make it happen, unless you're willing to spend possibly hundreds of millions of dollars on equipment. With the right setup and technology, it could be a viable alternative energy source in some parts of the world. Crazy me would have such a setup in my backyard if I could. If the lightning strikes the rod, it probably isn't going to strike me, and it seems lightning really wants to strike me (I've had an indirect strike in the past and hundreds of very close calls including one where someone next to me got a secondary hit while I was missed, we were literally a couple feet apart).
