A Hot SEIKO 5 GMT! Plus Universal Geneve, Farer, & More
It’s here, the last episode of the year. A Week in Watches episode 70 - wow. Though the year is coming to a close, there still is some news - big news actually - to discuss, so it’s a pretty full episode. We kick it off with some upgrades from Grand Seiko to one of their core designs. From there, we head to the UK to check out a couple of late-in-the-year releases from Farer. Then, it’s over to Switzerland to discuss Breitling’s acquisition of Universal Genève. Finally, we’re back to Japan for some new, and very cool, GMTs from Seiko 5.

I love pretty much everything that the Seiko is doing, well almost everything, rising moving different watches to different series just to rise the price would not be one of those. Having this lower cost GMT movement will create many micro brands having new cool GMT watches and for this we should give them a credit.
That Seiko 5 GMT in black = cool! Appreciate what you guys are doing. Enjoy the holidays! BTW, love colours on these chronos you guys did.

Yes, these new Seiko GMTs are better looking than 007 style GMTs. That black one looks great. I would definitely consider buying this one, in fact I most likely will, while the previous 007 held no interest for me. Good move on Seiko.
That green Farer is nice. 👍 A lot of good picks.
What am I looking from GS? Non polished cases with a 20mm lug width. So simple

Very nice video, thank you. My $.02 on the Seiko GMT's is they will sell like crazy! I'm planning on buying one myself. I thought the earlier SKX version, although a great watch and good value for money, was simply a bit too big for me. Also looking at the new Seiko Alpinist GMT.

The earlier Seiko 5 skx style gmt's look like all those unwanted mods with useless 24hr bezels from 2009-2015 or so. These look great and as a true bottom feeder, I will be buying a used one for $200-250 3 years from now

1400 USD for a caller GMT would have been okay a few years ago. Now I’m beginning to expect a true GMT at 1000 USD.
I think I’m going to get the jdm white version of the new seiko one. It looks sooooo nice and I think the white looks better than the black

I prefer the steel case of the ssk023 but want it with the textured dial of the ssk025, why can’t I have my cake and eat it too?

SKX style GMT is more meaningful and original. This new Explorer II homage is well, just a homage.

My Seiko GMT 5 has been returned to Seiko three times and still does not keep time.
Grand Seiko, please expand your offerings sub 40mm and sub 11mm thick. Thank you!

Military watches didn’t, and often still don’t have sapphire because you’d much rather have a scratch on your watch than scattered glass. That’s why even very expensive iso certified dive watches rarely have sapphire glass. Having said that, barely anyone does anything adventurous with military “styled” watches anyway, so they might as well given it sapphire. Personally I don’t really care, but I like old school plastic domed crystals the best.

Are you sure you are quoting the correct Pullman Railroad car company? Don't you mean the company that was in the United States? The Pullman Company in the USA had green cars. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pullman_Company

I pretty sure Pullman had a UK operation and that's what Farer uses for inspiration so you were technically correct.
