Good to see this tank finally get some attention and love. I have 1000+ battles in the M6, mostly before the HP buff, avg dmg over 1700. Still my go to tank, now I play with turbo, works great with it. Gun is extremely good, same gun as on the T20, only DPM is like 30% better. And best thing is, everyone underestimates this tank, you are never the primary targer for the enemies. Years ago when it was possible I even used to play this tank in platoon with higher tier tanks, 240mm APCR pen can work against T8-9-10, had some really fun games there. Lovely vehicle, a gem indeed.

It is a gem. I once went back for base defense on Malinovka north to defend vs an IS. The thing was near full HP until the first shot ammoracked it. Then ended up shooting their Tiger II on the south base although that cost all my gold ammo. The gun is really good.

Back in the days when i was f2p begginer, i was an ARL guy with only one tier 5 prem. tank (t25) to grind credits. When i played M6 for the very first time my first thought was: " this tank is op", it behaved so well in the battlefield, although in game stats never suggested it could be the case. .. As an ancient philosopher would say: " reality is a bit different".My favourite quote when i talk to pupils.

I never played this tank. I went the jumbo sherman route to t29. I just like the armor of jumbo, but m6 does have a nice gun.

Jumbo to t29 is horrible. Playing the t29 with a tier 5 gun is painful. Tge m6 is glorious. The lack of armor frustrated me but the t29 starting with the 90mm gun is more than worth it.

I used to play my M6 all the time years ago and wreck anything same tier or even higher. Many players don't know how to play the T1 heavy or M6 when they first get in the game and don't realize how good it can be in the right hands.

@@JD-kg3mx When playing it as the lowest tier in a game, play it more like a hull down medium support tank. The gun is good enough for longer shots. When you are playing top tier against lower tiers, ever so slightly angle the tank, shoot, and ram the heck out of anything smaller. When you are playing like tier heavies, play more of the support heavy role, keep a little bit of distance, but you can ram the sides of them too, if necessary. Your sides and rear are paper, so don't yolo into spots where multiple enemies may be able to shred them.

A shame I didn't play it then, I went directly to t29 with through Sherman jumbo, once upon a time when it was still in the tech tree

One quite important aspect of this tank's gameplay I've not seen mentioned is the use of the tanks tracks to bait shots around corners--most (depending on angle) of the drive sprocket extends beyond the hull, thus you only take track damage if performed correctly. Couple this with track health boosts (hardening and field mod), you often don't get tracked, this can award you 1 or more free shots.

I don't remember playing this tank - maybe I'll give it a whirl sometime, but doubt I'll ever approach these games... Great stuff Skill!

Speaking of hidden gems, I think the At-8 is very underrated! Godly dpm and armour!

To be fair, pretty much all armored english td's have very good winrates overall. Not everyone likes the slow chesslike style, but indeed good guns and good armor are a great combo when used well haha. AT-8 was my favorite too, but I think i will like the tortoise better when i saved the silver after all these top of the trees hahah

This tank and T29 are the best in line for me, great thing you feature it on the channel.

this and T1 Heavy have the shortest time for me to mark. T1 Heavy took 101 battles and M6 took 99 battles (I'm not a super unicum, so this number might still be considered high, though). The M6 especially, is just lovely. The one thing that I despise of this tank is the reverse speed. P.S.: This tank used to be an absolute meta in the skirmishes.

M6 is a heavy medium by role.

M6 was my first tier 6 heavy tank and last time I played with it, it was back in 2014 xdd And all I remember about it that the gun was godlije especially for tier 6

My dad has been playing wot since 2012 and has 40k battles and i have 15k i started playing since i was 7 in 2013 . My father absolutely loves the M6 and has more than 4k battles on it !!! Aside from that very nice video skill , my dad is glad that M6 finally had some love from you Stay safe there comrade o7

I recently three marked this and now have my highest xp match at 3200. 4.8k 10 kill match. The gun and damage on this is awesome

I too think this one of the best T6 HT. My best game on this tank was 4k dmg and 8 kills.

M6 was the first tank i got 2 marks while grinding(from stock) and im average player.Nice mobility and gun with t8 medium gunhandling

T1 Heavy which I recently played to get the xp for the new US heavy branch is pretty much the same as M6, but at tier 5. A lot of 2k+ dmg games, excellent gun handling ... hip hip hooray 🤭🍌🍌🍌

This tanks was always nice wasn't it? It was one of the first lines I went up (T110E5 was my first tier 10). I had some great games as a newbie in this tank... had a game where I owned the KV-1S's (then still tier 6)... shoot one, ram one.. This tank can ram! But I used the T1 Heavy to train new crews for my US heavies...

I never play M6 but enjoying Jumbo with derp gun a lot.

M6 is a heavy tank with poor armour. I did not enjoy it much when I grinned it as my first tank line. It did not seem « heavy ». It also takes lots of gold rounds, which newer players cannot afford.

I'm not a great player, decidedly average, and on the Asia server to boot. I don't remember enjoying this or the T1, only won 47% and sold it as soon as I got to the T29, which I really like.

This tank has a good gun, decent DPS, decent mobility for a heavy, but it's armor for a heavy even at it's tier SUCKS, that's what tends to make it bad. IT's basically a heavy with medium armor. In the hands of someone skilled like Skill, it can be amazing, but in the average player's hands, not so much.

Yeah I usually lick my lips when I see an m6 whether I'm in the kv1, kv1s or IS. They try side scraping but I just aim for the turret ignoring the hull

hidden gem... i played that tank when everyone played vs teams with 13x tier VIII 1x tier VII and 1x M6. atrocious in my book.

Win ratios for a few games don't seem to mean much. Some days I can have 80% wins with low damage and others I can have 20% wins with high damage. I'm sure it evens out in the long run.

I got tracked on a rise at the end of a narrow path, fortunately at exactly the right angle, because I blocked over 10,000 dmg. Not a typo. Still lost but what a game.

Came across this tank in my garage and noticed it had a 68% win rate. Been playing it regularly. Fun tank. Don't have to try hard to do well.

The only tank I could 3 mark, DPM is godly

M6 is good, but I also liked the T1 heavy.

You make it look so easy! 👌 I just returned to WoT after years away, with a new account (standard account) to get back into the game. It's so hard to do well consistently with the way the game is being played. I'm very aggressive and I basically pay for it every game. Do you perhaps have som pointers?

Unfortunatly not a good tank to platoon with friends, unless you like to be bottom tier 9 time out of 10 ( it's the case at least on NA )

M6 is a good gunner once you have the top gun. Before it is painfull as the 76mm gun only has 128/177 mm penetration and only 115 damage, you need lots and lots of gold ammo. Armor may work against some tier4 you see rarely, but most tier5 and all above .. what armor? Armor is a joke for a heavy tank. On the positive th grind on M6 is short as not much modules need to be researched. now - august 2022 - finally the armor buff is in supertest for upcomming patch 1.18. lets hope this makes the M6 more like a heavy tank

I have played M6 in 93 battles. WR : 43% , Average XP 390 . Why ? Well a tank is not good or bad in itself, everything depends on the adversary. 1) here I had 29 battles against 6,7,8 and 26 battles against 6,7 . You don't make pressure against heavies T8 or T7 with M6 and you don't try to snipe . Your tank is basically useless and you 2) depend on the T8 and T7 on your team. If they melt in the first minute, then you can only die . And this is what happened in most of the 55 games out of 93. This is not just bad luck, this is a braindead match making algorithm. Of course if I had 55 battles against T5 and T6 only, the WR and the average XP would have been very different yet it would still have been the same tank - M6. Considering these circumstances , my experience with M6 was a big nightmare.

Did they buff this tank at some point? I played way back like 6 or 7 years ago and it seemed like the gun shot spit-wads for all the good it did. I got so tired of hearing about bouncing off everything I parked it and never went back.

Maybe you're thinking of the 76mm gun from the Sherman? Or the tier 5 T1 Heavy? The 90mm has always been a good cannon, I'm not sure if the M6 always had it though. Edit: Of course he also has fully pimped equipment and crew.

The M6's gun is MUCH better than the ARL's (you spam gold much like you do in the ARL but a bit less). The *MUCH* better than the ARL's, not even a remote contest. The M6 is FAR superior to the ARL, this coming from someone who enjoys both.

Skillman, I do not share your enthusiasm for this American heavy. It is a massive target that serves enemy arty well and being matched against tier 8's is intolerable. The RNG is just not with this lumbering blob - the B.U.G.I. is better, the T-150 is better, The Skoda T 25 is more enjoyable (at tier), the Chi-To forcryingoutloud is better, the Type 58 is better, The P.43 bis is better!!! Come on Skillman, don't sell out to the dark side - the M6 is a big POS and you should warn everyone to stay away from it!

I did not like this tank, large, slow, mediocre armor, meh dpm, and generally for me a very meh tank that I struggled through

@@frederik3313 I like to make the aggressive plays and to go in front with mostly Russian tanks And for me talking about my playstyle, tanks either are fast with no armor along with good gun(and probably autoloader) or slow with dependable armor that you can trust, this tank was none of those and asked too much of me lol

@@matthewyang7893 Yes i agree, its mobility and armor wont work consistently, its not flexible enough for me. That was the reason why i skipped M6 by grinding the sherman line to get the T29 before wargaming changed the tech tree. I still think M6 is good, just difficult to make work.

M6 is better in its tier than T29. Nowadays T29 is slow against new t8 prem tanks. Till WG don't ruin tier 6 too with prem tanks, M6 can be a good choice and has fun factor.

Which ones are you referring to? I have fond memories of this tank when I played it years ago; it's certainly very capable, I wouldn't call it trash by any metric other than being absolutely enormous and having not much armor.
