I wish one of you had mentioned adoption while discussing infertility. As a Jewish woman who was unable to have children, adoption solved our issue of childlessness. Hashem wants us to raise children. Adoption is an equally good alternative.

Wow thats a big subject excellent question but if I am correct a man can divorce a woman if she can not give him children..it could be his problem....From what I know depends if the child is Jewish (mother Jewish) but if not the child has to convert/brought up Jewish....be good to find out more...

I really appreciated that IVF/Reproductive fertility assistance was discussed. I am on the fence in support of it, although I am glad it is a choice for women/men who seek alternatives. I wonder if it really is safe long term and it does feel a little dystopian (embryo harvesting, etc.) but I can understand for certain individuals it may feel like a miracle option. I am exploring foster/adoption.

Several years ago thru a business connection, my husband and I attended a Satmar wedding. I entered the exclusively women’s room knowing not a soul. The graciousness and warmth of the ladies who took me under their wing, seated me at their table and included me in their conversation and the entire event was incredibly wonderful, their kindness was just overwhelming. A most beautiful and moving experience.
Love these videos. I'm a Christian but I share so many of her ideas. I really love and admire the Jewish ability to be thankful every moment of the day. She is a Pearl of great price.
I am a committed Christian and thus do not share Pearl's religious beliefs but what a beautiful woman; if more people would share her values and common sense, what a great world this would be. I bet everyone who watches this would love to have Pearl as a friend, she is just great!

I love how Pearl says she doesn’t have a religion, but a way of life based on Torah. That is a very convicting statement to me as a Christian.
Please tell Pearl how much respect & love we have for her! And, she could be a weekly guest & I’d never tire of listening to her!
“They can’t tell me what to feel” Such a powerful statement from Pearl. I don’t agree with everything she says or believes in, but I aspire to be so certain in my identity as she is.

Certainty comes from Torah knowledge. You too could have this type of certainty. To be clear, I also do not agree with every single thing the Rebbitzin says, but no 1 agrees with anyone on everything. Your respect for the Rebbitzin differing from you in areas is truly something great. I like the way you stated your comment. I am trying to offer you a way of fulfilling your desire for certainty of identity. I hope my intention of replying with a positive, practical method comes through. Your desire is a good 1 and I hope that you attain it

I am also a cradle catholic and I have Jewish origins in Sefarad (Spain) which always made me drawn to Judaism. Listening to Pearl makes me see the common grounds of our religions and the same God we believe in
I struggled with primary and secondary infertility. I prayed a lot about it, but still it didnt happen. I remember sitting in church and seeing a large family across the aisle. i felt bitter, bitter with God, even. I remember i stood up to go to communion thinking i shouldnt feel that way going up to God, but it hurt so much. It was like at that moment, someone touched me and said "how do you know I am not grieving with you?" It was pretty amazing. So the bit about God being apart of the fertility assistance really touched me. I agree, whole heartedly. Also I ended up with 3 sons and I am grateful every day!

@@Noname-wi8xp Our faith is tested in oh, so many ways and as differently as people are different. God gives some women this test like Hannah in the Old Testament, or Anna, Mary’s mother in the New Testament. You obviously passed this test that God entrusted to you because you have three sons. God gives some women the test of breast cancer, other women get a test of whether or not to leave a physically abusive husband when there are children involved. The key is to surrender our wills to the will of the Heavenly Father who loves us. I Peter 4:12-19 states, “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you…” but to rejoice in that we are partaking of Christ’s suffering. Each of us, I suppose get tried to our limits of what we feel like we can endure.

Oh I enjoyed that so much. Pearl is adorable and so wise. For someone who says she isn’t educated, she has a phenomenal vocabulary and depth of knowledge on religion and society. Great video. Thank you both!
Thank you so much for this conversation. I admire how you gently asked provocative questions and how open and clear Pearl was about her beliefs. In an age of uncertainty there's something reassuring about an elder having such firm convictions, even if her views on the role of women are uncomfortable for me to sit with. There's mutual respect and trust between you and it makes it such a pleasure to watch the conversation unfold. I look forward to part 2.

I'm grateful to Pearl for answering questions publicly. Clearly, her faith is strong and unlikely to waver. Frida, your conversations with Pearl are so enlightening and enjoyable. How awesome to be welcomed in and for us to meet this amazing woman! Thank you! I am finding my way back to my roots in Judaism after growing up secular and basically having all sense of it scrubbed from my life. So these insights that are freely shared, frank honest answers that are given, and this peek into the mysterious and special people who I am a part of is the best!
I would LOVE more Pearl! She has such a depth and breadth of wisdom to share with the world. A beautiful woman to look up to ❤
I’m a Brazilian atheistic journalist and it’s very interesting to know more about such a different way to live. Brazil has few jews and almost none orthodox. Things Pearl say sound from other world for me. We fell sorry for each other, for sure!
I'm so excited, I adore, Pearl! She's like a sage, I glean so much wisdom from her.
Greetings from Ireland. Pearl is content and happy in her beliefs and shares her wisdom with everyone who wishes to listen. My Catholic faith in God teaches me similiarly to what Pearl is saying now about her beliefs. God bless you all.
I am SO excited to see this video at last! It's fascinating hearing Pearl speak of the Torah in this way. The indigenous Maori of New Zealand (where I'm from) have a similar concept called 'Tikanga' which literally means custom. It isn't religious per say, but lays out the ceremonial roles and responsibilities for women and men. Men are not allowed to perform the karanga (call) to welcome visitors, for example, because this is a women's role. As Pearl puts it so well, there is no 'envy' between groups. Obviously, this clashes with modern feminism and the idea that all roles should be open to all genders. Personally, I find this super interesting to explore because no belief system or ideology is above critique.
I love how she is unapologetic. Why must we make other societies to feel like they should have to be like us? Look how our society has fallen apart and we think we are happy. What about the children and how they have suffered in our “modern” society.
You two brilliant gals model something so beautiful here in human communication / interaction. A counselor used a lazy 8 resting on it's side once with me if you can picture that. She drew the lines of the crazy 8 pattern over and over again. And commented on the flow -- She brought it up once during a discussion about communication --- the way our interactions should be. The roots found in mutuality. A gentle weaving back and forth of turn taking, careful listening, reaching for clarification, respect, and responding. I just loved this interview. Thank you
Pearl is so popular because her basic values and her love for her family transcendent all the major religions. And, boy!, did I have to change my prejudice about ultra-orthodox Hasidic women! I always thought they were cloistered in their homes, never to be seen or heard of, never speaking their mind, and being virtually alienated from the rest of the world. Pearl certainly is totally "with it", she's taking no prosoners, speaks her mind, and is secure and self-possessed in her convictions. She totally is a "woman of the world", both traditional and modern at the same time! Frieda, you chose a wonderful spokeswoman for the Hasidic community.
I love this wounderfull woman, she says she's not educated but she reads and has so much knowledge. I love the fact she believes in brining children up to be good human beings, theyvare respectful. Pearl nreminds me of my Auntie Florence, who was so wise a Doctor but had children, the love and respect I have for women like Pearl is strong. Hassidisim does move with the times and Pearl explains this.
It’s so nice to listen to someone who knows the value of life, of womanhood, of the vital role mothers play in the good of society. Shalom Pearl. You are a blessing to this world.

Women who do only what the men dictate are not real whole women. The society is not healthy without empowered women shaping the society.
Pearl reminds me of how my 88 year old nana describes her mother. Nana was raised orthodox but has been secular her entire adult life. Her mum (my great-grandmother, who died when I was a baby) was orthodox her whole life, but by all descriptions was a very intelligent and learned woman who had plenty of interests in the secular and even non-Jewish world as well.
I could listen to Pearl everyday. It doesn't even bother me that we have differences of belief and values; she just has such security, clarity and piece of mind and such a loving way of expressing it that it's impossible not to pay attention. A lot of division and conflict in this world could be erased we ALL had this ability to communicate with one another.
The world loves you Pearl. ❤ I my heart and in my nashema I have adopted you as my hasidish Bubbeh. Warm greetings from Canada

I love listening to Pearl’s wisdom, and I’m a 69 year old Christian.
Pearl has a sophistication that we usually associate with education: she validates her information with heart felt clarity and experiential knowledge. She is my kind of teacher and mentor. my family just found out that my German grandmother was Jewish. We had many Jewish traditions mixed with Christian. We thought it was because she worked for Jewish families until they were taken away before the war. She had her own grief at the loss of these families as they treated her better than her own family, they took her on as one of their own children. My mothers DNA shows she is 1/2 Jewish. I have been a hospice and cancer nurse for 40 years and could nvr have children. I always felt that i could care and serve the children of God if i could not have any of my own. Thank you, Pearl and Frieda
