A Hang With Rabea [Strats, Pedalboard Update, Music Man, Neural, Real Amps, Stormzy & More!]
Музыка
A long overdue catch-up with the man who has it all going on!
Welcome to the show!
The rise and rise of Rabea Massaad is a heartwarming testament to sheer passion, talent and dedication to doing what you love. A familiar face on the internet, Bea has been a key figure in the success of veritable six-string institutions including Andertons TV, Chapman Guitars, Victory Amps and more.
2023 sees him continue the ascendency to fully-fledged artist as he prepares for new projects, a place in the Ernie Ball Music Man artist family and plenty more cool stuff besides. It’s our absolute pleasure to welcome him back to TPS to chat about it all.
If the rig explanation leaves you confused, basically…
• All drives and compression go into the front of the Kraken.
• Out of the Kraken FX loop into the wet effects on the board.
• L-R out of the wet effects into the Mesa Stereo Power amp and Zilla stereo cab.
• The Kraken’s preamp signal is carried all the way through the wet effects as well.
• There are no wet effects in the Kraken and Marshall cab.
• The stereo Mesa and Zilla stereo 412 are panned hard left and right.

He has to earn that and can start by writing a great song the masses want to hear like a evh. Lots of great guitarist in the world he happened to catch a break with choppers and andertons with out those two he is still playing in his bedroom just being honest!

@@ChainsawChristmas so unless he writes a stairway to heaven Panama or Eric Clapton Layla and he can sing and play guitar you will never be a legend . Earning your way? He has not he is a decent player and I watched him way before andertons but let’s face it ? His playing didn’t not get him where he is at it was choppers and andertons . He was not on the radio as an artist my opinion yep but with 3 Grammies and earning my way to biggest stages in the world I think it holds some value. But what do I know I was in guitar player magazine 2 times cover and 5-6 articles over last 30 years. But yeah just an opinion lol
I think Rabea is THE person to convince Dan & Mick that QC can hold its own against these huge rigs. Here's a vote for another appearance!
Bea is one of those new age guitar gods that don't intimidate but instead inspire. He does his own thing really stellar. And that's what we should strive for. Being the best me.
Love how happy Rabea sounded when Mick said they did a great job with his guitar
Watching Mick and Dan's reactions to Bea's playing is the ultimate. You can feel the level of respect there, my god what a player. Rabea absolutely crushes.
Rabea is such a killer player, and so humble about it. Mick's kindness and precision with the flying beast shows what a company of awesome humans you all are. Thank you for a great episode!
the smile on Mick's face when Rabea starts playing. Priceless
You three together on a Friday....doesn't get much better than that! What a great show and incredible tones. I bet it was loud and epic in the room. Well done.
No matter what style Rabea plays, he always plays with such feel, emotion, melody and rhythm.
I’m far from a high gain fandangler, but, there’s something so moving about Rabea’s voicings and vocabulary that brings me to tears of joy ❤️
“I feel more complete as a musician having seen it”. Possibly the most Spinal Tap thing ever said about Spinal Tap. 😂❤
So glad to see Rabea in the pedal room once again. I still remember watching the episode maybe a day into lockdown, still shocked by the fact it was happening and then you ended it Bea doing a play through of Prayermonger and even though I already knew the song well, it still brought me to tears with everything going on. I’m very thankful that we are in different times now.
The joy on Mick's face whenever Rabea plays is wonderful.
The tone fly stayed on the cab for the entirety of the outro playing. ...Legend.
I’ve just watched Rabea playing reading six times. Totally fantastic performance. Love how Rabea is so thankful of the opportunity.
Amazing how time passes. That last Rabea video was eye opening in the early pandemic days - I’ve revisited it multiple times since. Great to see you three catching up and think about all the ways we’ve changed/grown in these last few years!
I was at Reading, his intro was the highlight of my weekend! Spent the whole evening showing friends vids of Rabea playing afterwards. Another great TPS vid - thanks :)
A lovely Friday treat to have Rabea. On paper, he is not a guitarist that I would normally gravitate towards but I have been a huge fan for many years because he is simply superb and unique, inventive, fluid and melodic. Lovely to see him playing a Strat as that is my main territory. Thanks Dan and Mick for yet another excellent episode.
Rabea just keeps getting better and better!
I would LOVE to see another session like this with Rabea, but just him going through the Archetype and the QC with the boys.
Rabea honestly seems like the type of guy thats impossible not to like..proper gentlemen...incredible player with a unique voice on that fiddle
Bea has to be one of the most versatile players on the planet right now. A master craftsman capable of ripping your face off on stage or melting your heart in the studio. I was gutted when Black Peaks called it a day but to hear Bea is now working not just with Liam (Totemist is awesome) but Joe too is some of the best news I've heard this year.
My bro's , thank you all very much , Great video Rebea my favourite guitarist Love the shirt Rebea ! Great band from Western Australia karnivool
Being a Canadian I somehow overlooked your guest but boy, did I enjoy that. I listened LOUD.
I do like Rabea, and the moves he is making. He's evolving into a very interesting artist in his own right.
Rabea is an absolute beast, his style and playing is mesmerizing
Rabea episodes are so informative. The combination of his thought process and then a played example is just some of the best displays of a personal tone journey. Inspirational stuff. Thanks so much guys.
Think we need another show with Rabea where he sets up Quad Cortex captures for TPS and compare them to the real amps.

Honestly, that story of every moment leading up to walking out on stage at Reading sounds horrendous. I think I'd have crumbled. Top marks to Rabea for holding it together. A true pro.
Rabea.....such a beautiful touch and phrasing....and when he wants to blaze with a flurry of notes, he is sublime......a GREAT guitar player, with a GREAT tone.
Love the last few seconds. Totally know that moment when you can’t help but laugh because you’re in the presence of greatness.
I've known Bea for many years, you couldn't ask for a more genuine guy!
Rabea's slightly crunchy clean tone is one of the best out there.
Love love love Rabea’s playing, he’s a seriously talented and humble guy. Great show, you’re absolutely smashing it lately with these guests! Fingers crossed that the copyright stars align soon for the Noel show too. Nice one guys 😎
I love how he rocks, but when he plays that sweet chimy beautiful stuff, I am slain. I love seeing you 3 together. Day made. Amazing show. As a not metal player, I love how it sends me to the work shed to practice - and to think about my all too "traditional" mid gain, stacky thing. I might not change, but I am freshly inspired. Lots of love!
Oh Rabea, thank you for naming Philip Sayce. What a gem! And thank you Dan & Mick for having Rabea on the show again. I hope he returns soon enough for another episode of GREAT SOUNDS and humble inspirations.
Another WOW. I love Rabea, and have been following him since the early Anderton’s sound like videos. There are a lot of us going to be saying we remember him when because he is a rare talent, a better human being, and I really think his time to explode onto the scene as one of the major flag carriers for guitar is not too far off. And when he does it’s a win for the good guys because after the years of watching and listening to him you can’t fake his kind of humble. Just wait, soon we can brag about listening to him when. Great stuff guys, you’re the best there is.
Love, love, love Rabbi's playing and approach to tone. Thanks for the close ups of the pedal board. I took a screenshot and now my Strymon's sound great!!
Would definitely like to see Rabea back with QC and some Music Man guitars in tow!
Love how Dan actively listens and absorbs. Makes me think pay more attention
I was so beyond excited to see Rabea was going to be on the show. He is one of my favorite guitarists on the planet. And to have Dan and Mick with Rabea is like having the perfect Fish and Chips and getting the best dessert to go with it.
What a treat to see Rabea at TPS again, such a great player who can go from atmospheric cleans to the heaviest of tones and everything in between and such a brilliant guy as well 😄🎸😄
Fabulous Show Leg Ends, it's great to see Rabea again, when I saw him doing the Reding gig I was so nervous but of course he absolutely nailed it it almost brought a tear to an old man's eyes! I been watching him from his early days on Anderton's the man was class then & still the same now CLASS . PEACE and LOVE to EVERYONE .
I get the same feeling from Rabea’s playing that I get from Andy Timmons playing yet the don’t sound anything alike. It’s in the feeling. Awesome

Fantastic - another great show - what a nice player Rabea is! The change to the anodized pick guard was actually huge! I have one of those pick guards - now I have to put it on a Strat....
Dan and Mick are amazing. To care so much about tone to have a serious conversation about modelers and to be realistic about the tradeoffs and advtanges and disadvantages. So useful to teach those watching about using the right tool for the job. Enjoy your analog gear when it makes sense. Be inspired by your favorite gear, use digital tools if it makes sense too. Win win win. Great interview.

Great show and also love it when you have Rabea on. Been a big fan of his for some time thanks to TPS and Andertons. The pickup guard difference was also noticeable. Which I prefer would depend on the context but in general I liked the Aluminum over the Plastic guard. Can’t wait for when he’s back for the QC and Music Man episode! Thanks for all the great content over the years!
Great video! Love the decibel meter behind Rabea. Pushed 100db, while Tim Lerch was maxed at 65db two weeks ago. Has to be loud in there. Keep the great content coming Mitch and Dan!!! It is greatly appreciated.
Great episode. This is one that makes me very appreciative that you take the time to create the chapters-I will be listening to the portions where Bea is playing over and over.

Really nice! At first I thought "not my music, but a good musician". Then I watched some YT videos: quite impressive the spectrum of his music from metal, progressiv rock to "soul" : ) And impressive how much he seems to love all kind of reverbs on his board: the whole first row on his board...
The best part of my day! Rabea and the boys! God bless you all!
One of the best episodes you folks have ever done. I am a Quad Cortex player and can’t wait for Rabea to show Mick the light.
