I think John did a perfect tribute to Eddie, enough guitar flash without reducing it to all the classic EVH licks. Just a perfect homage from one legend to another

His electronic stuff is cool and I love everything he has created, but his best stuff is done with a guitar in his hands. And his vocals are wonderful. Yeah the guitar part in this song is amazing. This gives me very strong 2006 stadium arcadium vibes which I still consider their masterpiece. I do wish there was a little bit better melody, harmonies on this really making it sound more full and rich but John does not disappoint with that guitar solo. Absolutely love that they have another full album again so soon. John is a music making machine and I love that he is back in the band. We've been waiting years for him to return and we knew at some point he probably would. I must say I was kind of disappointed with the initial album this year. It was good to have them back and there were a couple of good songs, however it lacked that full masterpiece sound stadium arcadium had. Maybe it will take them a couple of albums to get back to their best again but stadium arcadium for me hit on all levels. Songwriting was great. Arrangement and song structure were fantastic. The harmonies and melodies and all of the pretty parts of the song really bloomed big time on that album and it had the best guitar work of the band yet. For shante was an absolute beast who crushed nearly every track on that with amazing guitar solos. I still keep it very high in my rotation. Thank God they gave us a double album full of great songs to sustain us all those years he was gone because one album would not have been enough. speaking of one of them not being enough it's great that we have a second one this year and this one is better than the initial one earlier this year I think. We need John for Shawnee guitar God beast mode at all times on their songs. That's what people come for. To bow at his feet as the guitar God he is. Anthony can sing about whatever bizarre la lyrics pop in his head and that's fine, this band is not about the lyrics to me. They never have been. Chad is awesome on drums, flea is a beast on the base and John is a shining God on guitar. It's about the music. Bring forth more music for us to worship. So glad John's back in the band. 2022 is awesome!

Just heard his song for the first time with the album drop last week. This solo took John Frusciante to a whole 'nother level (as if that was possible). The way he evokes EVH while doing his own thing but also having subtle nods to so many other guitar greats, I think has undoubtedly submitted him amongst them indefinitely with this one. There are hints of Hendrix, Page, Gilmour, Allen Collins, etc. It's in the nuisance of it, but it's there, and it's just incredible. I'm afraid it'll ultimately go under looked for what it is, but man, if the day of the guitar gods of old is coming to an end for a new era, Frusciante is making sure it doesn't go out with a whisper.

The L-R switching timing is the first dealbreaker for me (literally sounds like whoever did it was drunk), and most of the leads I could predict with 90%> accuracy and I'm a SHIT guitarist compared to him (don't play anymore but a good critical listener though). The mix was badly done in multiple ways in my opinion. A EVH tribute deserves attention to every note and I feel it did not get enough (if any). I've heard thousands of leads of this caliber. My favorite Frusciante solo comes from the live performance of The Zephyr Song at Slane Castle.

Chad Smith being in the pocket helps big time for this song. Chad and John set the drive for sure !

That band is just not that band without him. I loved Josh but John really is that band. In this video 1/2 the band is watching him and the only reason 3/4 isn't because Flea is busy.

That’s funny. Last week I didn’t know what to listen to so I just put the This is RHCP on Spotify and this song came up after a while and, even that I’m not a fan I know most of their famous songs, and I was like is this from an old album? How come I never noticed it Haha

Hey Tyler, what PRS model would you choose if you could not justify/afford a core model? (Silversky not included) => Humbucker guitar.

"Eddie" is a great song & Frusciante is one the best. For my part my favourite guitarist wrote another tribute song to Eddie, a different Eddie. Dean WEENs a "Tear For Eddie" is sublime!!!
