I was looking at Paladin Danse earlier and his card sacrifices himself just like in the game. They really did their research with these characters.

Can't remember if explained to anyone somehow not familiar. Three Dog is a radio DJ across the post apocalyptic wasteland. A lot of his general theme is spreading stories to all the survivors, I guess represented here that he broadcasts his auras out to those fighting the good fight.

Please please do this more! I found this beyond helpful. Not only did it teach me how to build this deck! But it has given me a few ides on how to build decks I’m currently working on. Please take more commanders and give ideas on cards around them. This has definitely been one of my favorite videos you have done so far. Thank you!

I don't believe you could run that in a commander deck with Three Dog at the helm, as Three Dog is White/Red, and Shaun Father of Synths has blue in it.

Sadly they arnt all that powerful compared to some commander decks but they sure look fun to play against each other and are so full of fallput flavor. As a massive fallout fan i cant wait to upgrade these to there full potential and have my favorite characters as my commander!

One thing I haven't seen any content creator say about Three Dog and Sage's Reverie is that the draw trigger is not a May ability. So multiplying Sage's Reverie across your board of 9 or more creatures just kills you. 😂

Not even just that, if you have even a couple of other aura's already the creatures required to deck you goes exponentially inverse. it's possibly even too dangerous in this deck to run, the tech almost feels too lethal to yourself.

Yes! I can't understand why folks keep recommending it! It's in like 80% of decks on edhrec. It's either a giant draw payoff for his ability (if you have say 3 or less attacking creatures), or a way to just deck yourself if you have anymore. Even if you don't deck yourself, you'll probably wind up having to discard 90% of your good stuff.

When I look at some timing scenarios it seems to me that if you go full agro then you will kill the other player(s?) first.

​@@FRSport1if you put Sage's Reverie on each of your creatures and this causes you to draw 100+ cards, then you die before those creatures ever deal combat damage because the last draw trigger kills you. You won't even get to the declare blockers step, you just die.

Before people swarm about reapers sprint needing the main phase HE NEVER MENTIONED USING THREE DOG'S ABILITY FOR THE EXTRA COMBAT He said to cast it on main phase bcause something will very likely die for the cost reduction, and then use it on the extra combat because the etb will still untap and buff them

I literally just ordered cards for a three dog commander deck three days ago. I figured everyone was going to be making this deck and wanted to nab the cards before the price went up. My deck costs under $20

"Wake Up Wasteland! It's Me, Three Dog" on tappedout if anyone is looking for a template. Overall it's not budget friendly but the auras and plenty of other cards are.

I guess the subtitle for this one would be “Bringing you the truth, no matter how bad I make you hurt”.

the professor seems more and more natural in his voice, as he (rightly so) becomes a household name...good on ya Prof!

After the CanLander episode I was really pleased to see that their rules committee gets it 4 points for Sol Ring feels like an accurate assessment of what is easily one of the best MTG card ever made.

Prof! Just in September, I started falling in love with Magic thanks to you. Now, I'm 12 decks deep and still snowballing! I can't thank you enough for giving me such a great lens to view this great game with!

Would love to see a Nick Valentine deck. A tech noir if you will. Naturally evasive and artifact creature death triggers for clues. He's a detective to boot, we just had a set where a few of those things mattered. I have high hopes prof!

I love this deck, and this analysis. Also, much less work than trying to figuring this out myself, by a factor of at least 10 or 20. I look forward to more of these from the non-face commanders in the Fallout sets! MacCreedy, Mayor of Little Lamplight is my vote for the next one! it can be played as a Lurrus aggro deck, a token deck, or just an oppressive Death & Taxes build. I look forward to seeing your take on it!

My Yes Man, Personal Securitron deck is going to be really cool. Things I've learned while building it: you control the triggers on equipment you control even if you don't control yes man. So naturally, Yes Man wears the Helm of the Host and it triggers during my turn even if I don't control him, just so I can give my opponents even more robots. So many yes mans

Today is stressful but this in my feed lightens it up a bit

When I first saw Three dog I thought it could be a lot of fun. Thinking running a bunch of bestow creatures and the licids that help me so I can use stuff that puts creatures in my hand from the graveyard to get them back. Plus it sets up for board wipes because both become creatures when they are no longer enchanting a creature. May also throw in some disturb creatures. Also can't forget strionic resonator and lithoform engine. Rabble rousing and assemble the legion are also good for making tokens.

Professor if you could do a deck tech around Mr. House, President and CEO that would just be the bees knees! Super excited for this set!

Three Dog unironically the best character from Fallout 3! Would love to see an episode about Robert House or Shaun!

So many of these cards are in my Mazzy True Sword Paladin deck, a fantastic Naya recursion set up. Also, Mr. HOUSE is my current pet commander

I was actually thinking about making a similar style of deck but with Cass as the commander and Three Dog in the 99. She has a lot of accidental infinite combo potential, and most of the combo pieces are auras that work well with Three Dog.

Would love to see your take on Craig Boone, Novac Guard.

I'd like to see you do a follow-up Commander for build your own precon

Another body to maybe think about adding to the deck would be Aurelia, the Warleader for possible kill potential as you could get 3 combats on your turn.

Hey Prof, I’ve already purchased but are you going to do a video on Sheldon’s spellbook? I think it’s the best value secret lair in a long time and even better it’s for an amazing cause and in memory of an amazing person!

Sage's reverie + glint horn buccaneer is a pretty funny win combo for this deck as long as you don't draw yourself out before your end step.

Aside from some of the face and backup commanders, I'm most excited for Kellogg, Shaun, Rose, and Preston. Each of them are interesting enough to where I'd want to build them.

I'm planning a Master Transcendent mill reanimation deck but I'd love to get more idea and see how you'd build it.

Eldrazi Conscription, while not immediately triggering Annihilator on all the tokens, still gives massive power to your board.

As soon as Three Dog was revealed I immediately started building a deck with him. I think he's going to be a really solid commander. Maybe not THE best but the amount of power and value he generates won't be able to be ignored

Man, if I didn't already have a white-heavy aura deck, I'd be tempted. As for other Fallout commanders? I don't know if he counts as non-face since he reps all his deck's colors, but something involving The Master abusing self-mill and graveyard synergies could be fun!

I kinda want to build around Craig Boone, novac guard, I'm sure theres some crazy trick shot strategy involving damage doublers, phyrexian vindicator and brash taunter, but i havent gotten further than that

The legend I am most excited about to build is Mr. House, President and CEO! I think it's gonna be real fun

I like the idea of adding [Convenient Target] to this deck. It's dirt cheap to cast, helps thin your opponent's defense, and has a way to recycle itself out of the graveyard. Yeah, not being able to block isn't good, but there would definitely be situations where that is worth it.

Didn't buy any precons, but I am building a Codsworth deck. It is build around his ability as well as reducing equip costs and costs of aura enchantments.

Mr. House CEO. Already have a full dice roll deck built just waiting for my precons to come in. I'll be taking out Mr. House, The Luck bobblehead, and maybe yes man & 1 or 2 other cards for said deck. It's essentially a combo of group hug + gambling token gen. I also have a prototype portal to copy my luck bobblehead, as frankly its the strongest of all the bobbleheads with its activation cost only being 1 colorless. So after 2-3 turns of copying the bobblehead ill be rolling 9d6 for 3 mana, and getting a bunch of treasures and tokens for it. Since i'll also be using wyll and the barbarian class from baldurs gate to roll more dice and take the highest. As well as all the d20 cards of course. I'm really excited to watch it work.

Genuine question for paper magic: What would be the best method to keep track, which creature has which enchantement attached to it? I can imagine having Three Dog out for a few rounds it could get quite messy tracking enchantements without using a million copy tokens or dice.

looking at the decklist, the only rock is sol ring, with a 33 land count. Was this intentional? Boros generally isn't the best for ramp, but rocks can still be super useful got to the end of the video where this is addressed and I agree. The curve is super low and, with trying out the deck, you want to be putting more threats on the battlefield rather than preparing for a late game that you don't want to see. I would still put in a couple more lands, but that's just me.

Since you're highlighting this deck, are we going to see it on Shuffle Up and Play?

I don't have an answer for your question at the end - I honestly kinda gave Fallout a pass because I have a friend who's way more into it and is buying them while I hold off for Final Fantasy. BUT! Your Three Dog deck tech has me interested enough to at least go look at all the new potential commanders I could be making a deck for! Thanks for the inspiration, Prof!

I've been tinkering with a Mr House deck for the last week. Compared to this, it's not very strong, but it's so much fun.

Rules question. Bound by moon silver. Can you sacrifice the creature it’s enchanted to as part of its ability to move it to a separate creature? Or would it hit the graveyard before resolving?

crazy question, but what if modern didnt have a ban list as seen in legacy but a restricted list as seen in vintage? (along with the usual ban list of manual skill cards, unfriendly cards and ante cards and the like) wouldnt that bring more skill to the format with more one ofs in decks, buffing toolbox decks a bit? granted, certain companions would be as powerful as they were pre-ban, but the solutions to them would be stronger, too.

Thoughts on adding Greater Auramancy to this list? Seems like it could be pretty good

I was on the whatnot live when you mentioned how this deck tech has very little views and I love your deck techs especially the ones that you do your own “Precons” but I haven’t played fallout so I don’t have much interest in this commander or most of the cards from the other decks and I’m here for the algorithm and cause I’m sure there are others like me

Technically not a face commander, but The Master, Transcendant seems pretty neat. The radiation mechanic in general feels like an interesting take on a mill strategy.

So at @7:12 , he mentions Eidolon of Countless Battles as being a good enchant because it has big buffs, but I went looking around and bestow cards (Eidolons from Theros), interact in a very specific way with Three Dog. If you enchant Three Dog with a bestow creature, and then use Three Dog's ability, instead of making a bunch of Aura tokens on your board that will fall off your creatures when they die (like you'd expect), the Bestow creatures enter the board as creature tokens. Because Eidolons aren't auras, they're creatures with an alternate casting cost that allow them to enter as auras. If you make token copies of the existing "bestowed" permanent, then they don't count as auras because you didn't cast them as such, and they're instead just creature tokens. There are upsides and downsides to this. Upsides: Bestow creatures now nearly double your amount of creatures (2(x-1), where x is the number of attacking creatures and the 1 is Three Dog), and trigger all creature ETBs and enchantment ETBs. So on your next turn (or attack step, if the eidolons have haste) you will have many more valid targets for Three Dog to copy other auras (or bestow creatures) onto. Downsides: Casting them with "bestow" means they don't get discounts from Hero of Iroas, Transcendant Envoy, or Danitha Capashen. They also won't enchant your other creatures, meaning the bestowed creatures aren't boardwipe protection anymore, as creatures with Bestow become creatures if they're no longer attached to a creature, if your board gets wiped.

it's going to be so weird trying to find an exile strategy just to put my War Doctor in Three Dogs. Though chances are I'm just going to build a different deck with Clara as the companion.

Three Dog’s sacrifice not requiring a non-token is gonna probably be relevant. This seems like it could easily be broken in so many ways.

I feel the Magemarks from Ravnica also deserve an honorable mention as being semi-anthems under Three Dog
