Mike Glover from Fieldcraft Survival served in the US Army for a couple dozen years, most of them as a Green Beret. Deployed to austere environments more times than I can count - he's pulled upon his real life experiences all around the world and brought them back and applied them to prepared life here in America. It's not a battlefield, but Mike Glover has the mentality to always be prepared. This Dodge Ram 2500 was purpose built for long hauls, and scenarios that you might encounter in a SHTF type scenario, where you might need to bug out. We take a closer look at Mike's rig, and go over some of the details of his bug out rig.

Mike is an impressive human being. I just heard him on the vigilance elite podcast. And i love shawn ryan and his channel. And found out abkut Mike Glover that way. It meant alot to me to hear about him being in a shitty apartment in tx being drunk wa pistol in his hand. Im a veteran from tx and ive pretty much been in this exact scenario. Being isolated on the holidays. Im no where near the warrior this man is, but i followed the same self destruction blueprint. Just to hear mighty men like mike telling their stories of vulnerability means alot to the rest of us mortals. Anyways, good show, great channel, great guys.

I just want to add that Mike is far from a Joe Schmo. Mike was not just a Green Beret. Mike was an elite Green Beret serving as part of the CIF team. He later moved on to Delta Force which is the most elite tier 1 unit in the world. Once he left Delta he went back to the Green Berets and stood up a new CIF team from scratch. Mike reaches the rank of Sergeant Major which is the highest rank obtainable for an enlisted man. I served with Mike in 2004 and 2005 in Afghanistan. His career in the Army is the stuff of legends. He’s a true bad ass.

But the guys been through everything a warrior could go through 5x over. He’s very disciplined but very down to earth and humble. He’s a really good guy and full of information. I’m glad this channel has featured him. So much to learn from this guy.

Nice rig! The probability that someone siphons your fuel and/ or steals your bed gear is extremely high in an SHTF situation where you will invariably leave your vehicle. The extra headroom is not worth the security liability IMHO. You'd be better served with a DB cover. Your local locksmith can upgrade the stock lock cylinders if you're worried about lock security. A custom Medico (Assa Abloy) cylinder will set you back a few hunsky but its money well spent. Ain't nobody getting in your bed without a grinder and/ or breaker bar. A system is only as good as the weakest link. Food for thought.

@@fosty. It is very easy to find combustible liquid fuel tanks that are fairly affordable. They are not as common and cost a bit more.

Haha it's tempting, especially now that I have the Land Cruiser... I've always wanted a big truck with a bigger bed for firewood and various random construction / yard / house projects I end up doing.

MrJae94 Just make sure you know how to work on it, or at least be mechanically inclined. Nothing is as reliable as a Toyota.

I think mike is thinking of the Florida truck scene with super high lifts, 22” wheels not ca. Here in ca most trucks are set up for desert running dunes or rock crawling. Glamis, hammers and Baja. Less than 6” or lift with 37-39” tires on 17” wheels and long travel suspension.

Curious, How did you pull yourself out from the salt flats with the wench if you had nothing to tie it to? I'm assuming other vehicles were around? Great vid. Thanks. - Also what size Raceline wheels are those?

Mike, Cool Rig...are you conserved with a rig that large it would limit trails you can travel off grid? Looks like a 8k wt truck. Hope it does not get stuck and if it does and no trees you may find even two trucks can not tow you out as the pull force pulls them out. Big fan of minitruck. Regardless you know everyone has their opinion in the brief. Thanks for sharing brother😎

Could you do a video like this but maybe for single cab trucks, id like to see Mikes take on how he would load out a single cab. Maybe not so much the drive train or mech mods but like the bug out side of things how to maximize the use of space in a sindle cab

As well as that truck is, it’s still depending on the computer. A first or second gen Cummings is better. Fuel for a diesel is not limited to just diesel for the older Cummings engines. But for a bug out truck for me would be a deuce and a half. Multi-fuel manual trans for if battery’s not able to start it can park it on hill and roll start. Very dependable vehicles. Just saying tho.
