Appreciate the info. Good video!
I got mine in May. I really like the GV70 a lot. It's very comfortable, and it's great to be in an electric vehicle. I'll admit, I'm also very much a Genesis fan since I've been getting them since they first came on the market. My biggest gripe is the range, and I wish I knew if there was something that I could do about that. I was in Orlando and had a 100% charge. I was driving home which is ~180 miles away. I was going around 79 MPH in ECO mode with the A/C on circulating set to 71, with the outside temperature being in the 90's. Through the drive there was about a 5 mile difference between me getting home and how much range was showing. I ended up stopping for a quick 5-10 minute charge just to make sure I could get home. I'm just not sure what I could have done differently to feel like I could have comfortably got home without hoping that I'd get home with 5 miles of range to spare.

Kyle, great insight and review (how did you memorize your scripts so well 🙂). I have been paying attention to this Electrified GV70 because I am a big fan of the Korean Brands (currently driving a Kia Sorento PHEV), and the fact that we kept talking about the $7500 tax credits since this car is made in the US. Unfortunately with the regulations changing again I just don't know if the tax credits have reduced to $3750 or actually $0. It is a real shame that the current administration is definitely pushing for EVs but it cannot even make the tax credits easier to understand by the public.
@JohnCap523

The point of the current tax credit is first and foremost to bring EV and battery mfg to the US; subsidizing EV purchases is secondary. So there’s no shame in how it’s structured except that they’ve allowed the leasing loophole to remain open.

There is no need for the tax credit. If you get a tax credit, it means I’m helping you buy a car. Why should I have to help you buy a car? The whole tax credit program is a scam on all taxpayers. There is no proof that CO2 is harming the environment, especially when CO2 is only 0.04% of the earth’s atmosphere. In fact, our bodies actual need CO2 for some processing functions that keep us healthy. Even the “computer Models” that predict “doom and gloom” cannot predict historically recorded temperature changes though the decades.

Why is no one talking about this EV? -- It's NOT a from the ground up EV, like their E-GMP 800v platform. -- You have to go through a dealer and all their markups to get it. -- It only has a 77.4kw battery for a large, heavy car. -- And it's $74,000, and that's before a dealer gets through with it. You can get a Rivian for that, and you get to keep whatever rebate it has, rather than most, if not all ,of it going to a dealer.

Your complaining about the navigation system’s incapabilities would be enough for me not to buy the car. Lack of route planning is another issue. However, it does seem to have some nice creature comforts (massaging driver seat). Lack of total range is not a big issue if one can achieve 20 to 80% in 10 to 15 minutes and get at least 2 hours of driving at 70 mph. One of the biggest issues with buying an EV is purchase price coupled with rising interest rates. If the US gov’t wants us to buy EV’s, then they should open up mining for and processing of battery materials in the USA. Right now most of the battery materials and even batteries are coming from China and that’s a no go for me. There are still issues with battery charging and range in colder weather climates, especially where temperatures can drop below zero F for 2 weeks at a time. The average low temperature for Minneapolis in January and most of February is in the 2 to 4 F range. Average high temperature is around 22 F during that period. And there are frequently morning temps below -10 F and extremes of -20 to -40 F within the state of Minnesota. The charging infrastructure is not at the point of ensuring good reliable charging and availability at this point in time either (for long distance driving in rural areas especially). Tesla has been smart in the way they have built their charging infrastructure, but they really lack behind introducing new car types that are appealing to many consumers.
Honestly there just needs to be a battery preconditioning button in EVs. Just give us the damn option to do it whenever we want.
Honestly you misepresented this car and should have compare it to the current Q5 ETron. That your wife drives which it is similar to. It beats it because of fast charging.
Don’t know why anyone would choose to spend 25k more than Model Y for a car with balky nav system and a crazy busy user interface. BTW, my Model 3 LR gets about 4 mi/kWh at 75-80 mph with a/c on. And of course the Supercharger system works all the time.
