A German high-speed ICE and a Belgian Intercity - International Train Travel in Europe | First Class

Hi, in this travelmentary or trip report, I'm showing you a cross border journey from Cologne to Ostend via Brussels. Therefore, I'm using both a German ICE high-speed bullet train and a Belgian Intercity train. The first leg of the journey led me from Cologne Main Train Station (Hauptbahnhof) in Western Germany to Brussels South (Bruxelles-Midi), where I made an overnight stop at the Courtyard by Marriott Brussels EU hotel. On the next day I conitnued my trip to Ostend using an Intercity operated by SNCB. All tickets were booked in first class, but as I walked through the train you can see the second class products as well.

Hi everyone and thank you for your patience 😅 I’m not the quickest editor and this video is the biggest production I have made so far - 35 minutes of railway content. Enjoy! For the upcoming new year I wish you all the best - with health being the most important asset. Many more videos are in production - from Italy, Spain, Poland and many more countries. I always thought Obb has better catering than db, they actually use real cutlery, unlike db, who is “ environmentally friendly”.

I hope db starts bringing cutlery back soon, at this rate db food will start looking like food served on Amtrak

Food aside, db has a special place in my heart and they are still a good railway company.

Wasn't the train for oostende a M7 not a M6? It is the lastest version of the 2-floor IC of SNCB

Very nice video! For me Frecciarossa is better than ICE in every way. And as you said ICE isn’t even that fast usually even if you compare it with Poland f.e. (Kraków - Warszawa with EIP - 300 km in 2h15min - average speed of 133 km/h. München - Berlin with normal ICE - 620 km in 4h30min - average speed of 138 km/h ... so it’s basically the same + I’d say EIP are more reliable). ICE Sprinters are okay when it comes to speed but they are usually even more expensive and there are not many of them.

Hi, thanks so much for watching and your comment. Yes, I also like Italian high speed trains and on this particular route I usually prefer the Thalys for the better service and the “international atmosphere” onboard. Nevertheless it is good that DB offers this service - competition is always good for the passenger.

@@travelmentaryTV I agree. At least DB could lower the price of their 1st class, because there is not much difference between the 1st and 2nd class to be honest.
