Yes - it would have been avoidable because the other drivers were able to not run into the back of Fernando and others.

I can't stress enough how badly Daniel NEEDED this race to just go as smooth as possible for him. Lance has been in an F1 car for SEVEN YEARS and has shown the entire world that he would be better off piloting a 20 hp go kart. Lawrence Stroll knows he's bringing the entire Aston Martin team down by keeping his son in a seat but he obviously doesn't care. Real shame Alonso can't have a proper teammate beside him because his boss is an idiot.

@niuage "drive ok at times" here means 1/2 out 10 races here. if its any other driver he's out of the grid. even the 3 podiums he has are all in chaotic races where the lead cars had penalties or crashed out. this guy has nothing to prove he is f1 worthy. even oliver bearman had a better race than him with 1 practice session. hulkenburg in 2022 beat him in the first race in bahrain after sitting out of f1 for 3 years. guy's absolutely useless. and to think this team ousted perez to accomodate vettel and kept this clown

I think Lance is fast enough but it feels that he simply lacks full focus and discipline. Can easily get bored, loses the rhythm, the flow of the races. He usually makes great starts, moving up places, finds the gaps, reads the situations perfectly - then it's like he loses interest unless he is in the spot.

And even if that weren't the case, they were still approching a slow speed corner, in a Pack with many cars close together under THE SAFTY CAR. So every driver should know that they need to watch the cars infront instead of the apex (which is what Lance was doing, as you can see in the onboards). Not a big fan of Daniel and I've always liked Stroll but this is more than justified. Daniel had a very good race until Lance started Strolling...

Daniel is one of the more stoic F1 drivers. The guy ALWAYS has a smile no matter what's been going on in his personal life, or track life. (Edit: when I say stoic drivers, I mean the way he acts off the track.)

He is the opposite of stoic. Stoic drivers are someone like Kimi and Valterri.

@hitmanvr6 Stoic basically means showing less or fewer emotions. Danny is a colorful guy, he is far from being stoic. Hiding/masking emotions through smiling is not a stoic trait.

he handled THAT part of the afternoon very well, but he should not have overtaken Nico Hülkenberg unter yellow without consent of the stewards. That FINALLY ruined his day.
