I actually thought of doing this, after my 3rd attempt at getting these guys. My years of Ark have trained me for this.

The cool thing about them if you get their stars up, they can open locked chest in the game no need to carry keys or lock picks

I'd rather lose 3 slots in my inventory to the 3 types of keys than lose 1 pal slot to a Mimog, but that might just be me. Also I gain more keys than I use so they don't run out.

0:23 ... build a wooden cage around it using wood OKAY you can mine that stone and place wooden defensive walls, it doesn't require foundation and it's much higher

IMO the best way to catch them is to put a ring of mercy on and shoot them with Jetragon missile launcher. They will take damage and be stunned but then will go back to resting position and not run. Then when 1 hp just throw the sphere (I usually get off mount for this). Be ready to throw another one if they break out and if you miss it will run but if your Jetragon is fast just keep following it, it will stop eventually and you can try again. It seems much faster and less work than this :)

Thanks for the tip. I had the ring on all the time but I did not use the Jetragon's missiles to stun it. I thought it would just run away like when I dismounted and shot it. I need to worry about catching it if the attempt is not successful. My clumsy fingers are too slow to mount up and run after it. 😅

This is the first time seeing a mimic zooming as fast as Sonic.

@@vinshenoldnoobgamer yep, my jet dragon can't catch this shi. It breaks the rules of every fantasy tropes that Mimics are stationary waiting for it's prey. So if they are faster than any pradator, there is no point for em to pretend (mimic) cuz they could just snatch any Pals (animals) slower than them. 😂

Yes, before I could even mount up, it ran away into the distance and there's zero chance for me to catch it. 😂

it gets stunned if you use explosions like jetdragon special attack

I need to give this a go the next time although I am very bad at catching pals while mounted. 😅

my way is just blew the mimog with rocket launcher and make sure you using ring of mercy. So basically, once you shoot and blow the mimog will got stun for few second (chance catch Mimog) and also change the setting into "3x pals apperance".

a flying pal is useful to chase it. or dazemu with swift/nimble/ infinite samina can keep up on normal terrain or out runs mimog on sand and dirt roads. outright going for the back increases the chance of capture because mimog always faces you when first damaged. the desert areas are the best places because there is little cover for mimog to hide and they tend to spawn more because most of the chests are out in the open. opening chests and circling around causes them to take the chest spawns faster.

First time i seen one it was near the spot where the Beakon boss is, I shot it once and ran at light speed, managed to find it back but it kept running, at some point it just fell of a cliff and couldn't find it anymore lol

The same thing happened to me. 😅 That's why I built cages if I want to catch one. Others told me you can use a mount weapon to attack it and it won't run away. I tried using the missiles on Jetragon and it didn't run away. However I still prefer the cages because it's a sure way to catch a mimog. 😂

So they must have hot fixed this. My friend and I the Mimog kept just destroying the foundation in one hit and escaping. What we found was the defense walls block them and they don't even attack it. Just attacks foundations.

I don't know if this still works but apparently if you shoot it with a rocket launcher it breaks the AI and it just sits there not doing anything at least for a little bit

The campfire trick could work for low level, up to high level mimog. *Great if you're under level and want to capture a lvl 50+ mimog with ease, considering you could get legendary spheres abundantly on the new Island so yeah.*

So far, I've seen mimog at the new island and in the volcanic biome. Not sure about the rest. They are fast. You cannot shoot first and then try to capture it because they will just run away. That's why I built the wooden cage. Looking forward to your test. Perhaps it's a better way than this weird one. 😄

@@vinshenoldnoobgamer They can also spawn in the Desert around lvl 25. It is easier to chase them with a fast flying mount imo the home-missle-launcher also works fine even when they run fast.
