Thank you so much for these videos. Using your methods my two cats have learnt high five, low five, fist bump, sit pretty, stay on a mat, and now they're getting the hang of this one. Training is a highlight of their and my day!

Julie, you are the best cat teacher I’ve ever seen. The only one who actually breaks down the steps so even I could teach my cat to jump through hoop, give high five, low five and fist bump to start. I would love the see a video of how to teach my foster to play dead. Thank you for all you do!

Your step by step approach is super creative and well designed. I taught my kitty many tricks and he does all good. I really love how the relationship with my kitty went deeper by training.

I have been training my cat "Basil"and he can jump, sit and roll over! I want to start using a clicker as I haven't done this yet. In the video are you getting someone else to do the clicking so that the timing is right? It seems it would be hard to hold the clicker as well as the treat etc at the same time?

Great questions. When I use both arms, I make a clicking sounds with my mouth. Have fun!

My cat Merlin and I have been working in this. I made the mistake of tossing the treat through my arm hoop to get him to jump through. Now I'm having trouble fading the treat. Any tips? Thanks so much!

So if you’re just beginning training can you just click with your mouth or do you have to have a clicker? And does the clicking sound have to be the exact same every time or can it vary by volume or tone?

hi! i am really excited to start training my cat this trick! however, as i'm worried that he will get obese after from all the treats, i'm just wondering if i can use their normal cat kibbles as cat treats?? if not, what do you recommend in order to prevent them from getting fat? thank you!

Consider what is the new signal your cat should see to jump. Many people leave their arm up and it blends into the background. Make sure to present the arm only when your cat is attentive and the movement of your arm should become the signal for your cat to jump.

Cat School thanks I watched it and it helped! Also, is there a projected timeline that I should be able to get my cat used to doing this by? I know all cats are different but typically would it take days, or even weeks of practice to get it down?

@@randysavage5395 It depends on how often you practice. It can take several sessions/weeks. Go at your cat's pace and enjoy your time training together.

Are you using a clicker? If you are using a clicker the cat will learn that they get "clicked" for jumping over. Then it's your job to only raise your arm gradually. If you raise it too high the cat may get confused. I have a course on the website and you can post a video in the classroom if you need help. www.catschool.co
