    Hi Andy & Mia, one word sums this up: wow! 👌 What a beautiful shipshape vessel Isbjörn is! You can see the skill and experience of the crew in how she is set up and organised. This is a very professional boat tour and we will be adding it to our 'Boat Tours' playlist, where you will join some of the best known large monohulls and catamarans on KZread, as well as some small classic vessels. (We all love looking around other people's boats, hence this playlist on our Channel!) Keep up the amazingly professional work you are doing and we look forward to seeing more from you in the future. Fair winds! Chris, Rossella & baby Emma 😊

    We had a Swanson 27ft made by the Swanson brothers in Australia not the bubble roof, regular one. It looked like a mini Swan. The beauty of it was that the original owner put in 6 (!) winches. 2 on the coach roof, 2 jib sheet and 2 little ones in the back for the spinnaker. What a luxury that was! Miss that little boat so much a true blue water cruiser named Indigo.

    The name works well in Norway too, but with a Norwegian letter ø; Isbjørn. Pronounced almost exactly the same. Though It's a bit odd to name a swedish boat Isbjörn since there are no polar bears in Sweden at all. But there is thousands of them in Svalbard (Norwegian archipelago) about 78° north. Wonderful place 😀

    I hear you. And I don't sail even a small portion of those miles. What is funny is having an older boat and lots of higher priorities, I was "saving" my teak work for later until someone commented on my wood. They didn't just comment, they grabbed my teak oil and made a point of showing me how little time it takes. All I could do is smile. Got me on that one, although I will also point out my boat is smaller (a 30) and has less wood overall than your beautiful boat. I binge watched your videos as they had never come up before on my KZread searches and am very impressed at how closely connected you are to other sailors and your vast amount of experience and knowledge. I pick up something new with every video! Thanks!!

    @@59NorthSailing - that's our concern too - we often require the "trainees" to wear their sapolettes also - this provides some measure of protection - but if we sailed/ and didn't cook because the weather was a little heavier - then we would all starve - but even making hot brews for the oncoming watch requires hot water - having said that we sail to a predetermined schedule - so we don't have much of an option than to work in whatever Huey throws at us - love your efforts - and may you continue to do more

    That metal bar in front of that galley stowe there... You are supposed to connect your safety harness in that, to keep your self from bouncing around in rough weather, as there is no supporting wall behind you. That's why it's there. I'm sure you can install more winches in your cockpit. Just remove the roof lining in your aft cabin and you will see where they are supposed to be located at. (I have a 40 footer S&S ocean crosser/racer made by the neighbour company) p.s. Seven winches in the cockpit here by the way ;-)

  • @59NorthSailing

    @59NorthSailing

    Scramasax We deliberately don’t use the galley strap. It’s a safety hazard. If it’s that rough that you need it, we feel it’s not safe to be in the galley with knives and hot food. But you are correct, that what it’s for ;)

  • @Scramasax

    @Scramasax

    5 жыл бұрын

    Good answer. We have the companion way staircase and the engine behind the cook, so we have never used the strap either. Then again in this design the galley was intentionally made quite small for the exact reason that you have supporting "walls" all around you. Something you don't find in modern boats ;-)
