A Formula for Decision Making | A Monk's Perspective
A Formula for Decision Making | A Monk's Perspective
When it comes to decision making, do you know how to make a good choice? What is the criteria that you use? Do you base it off of your feelings, you logic, your mood? In this video, I wanted to share a criteria that our teaching monk shared with us in the monastery. This gives you a guideline that you can use whenever you are faced with a decision. I hope this helps. #monks #monklife #minimalism

What do you think of using a win-win model as a guideline to decision-making?
@mariabejaranomonge2183

I think it brings peace to me. Every action I perform, every decision I take in life, should be done thinking about not only in my personal benefit but the way they also affect others. That's good karma.

In an ideal world, collaboration offers the best win-win solution. Unfortunately in my (work) life, that very seldom happens. Big 🇺🇲 companies runs under "dictatorship." So sad, everything is about 💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰 going into their big fat pockets. Luckily, I have peace and contentment with my personal life so it somehow balances things out. Thank you Nick for sharing your wisdom ✌🏻

I think it’s easiest to manage win-win decisions when one sets clear boundaries, which is something I have difficulty with sometimes. When I don’t I end up not taking responsibility for my decision and then feel resentful, turning to win-lose if I’m not careful. Thank you for this important and beautiful reminder!

When you change yourself for the better, the world becomes better. As a mum the win-loss was my way of taking care of my kids, but I changed that 2 years ago. I feel much better. Win-win is definitely on my mind with making decisions. I always think if others benefit first and then what will it do for myself. Much love. 💋💋

This is so wonderful, thank you. I recently made the exact same decision actually! I was about to drop out of college to pursue writing and travel around, but I decided to stay and live with my boyfriend (who I love and is also finishing at the same college) and get my degree so I can be proud of myself and have options while also honoring my parents wishes. It was definitely a hard choice, but this is such a nice way to look at it. I guess it was a win-win since I can slowly develop myself and my writing without having to go off completely alone :) I will definitely keep your advice in my heart for whatever crazy decisions I'll have to make in the future. I can't tell you how much this has helped me, I truly hope you have a wonderful day :D

I'm glad it came at the right timing 😊😊
Thank you Ven. Nick for this timely video, even though I am seeing it 3 months after you made it. I am in the process of evaluating some life decisions to reestablish some boundaries with others, toxic interactions. In the process of implimenting actions that would somehow change directions and set me on a new path, I slammed the gate shut and was going to do a Win-Lose approach. However this video helped me to understand that while protecting me from toxic situations--slamming the gate shut is not approaching the situations with Win-Win and loving kindness towards others. I will work on these areas to see how to impliment this. Part as well is your section on journaling and trying to see good qualities in others. I will be trying this as well. I wish you and the monastery a Blessed 2022 :)
Thank you..I find your videos very enlightening and helpful . I always look forward to your videos. Regards 🙏

Thank you Nick. I ❤️❤️ and respect very much these tidbits of love that you share. I like to think I am a “ truth seeker” too. I seem to gravitate to deep spiritual teachings and I take them to heart. There is a “ peace” I am searching for. An deep inner peace that will release me from much unrest and anxiety these last years. There’s sometimes a battle going on…. In the soul Me against myself it would seem. And I searching for why it seems to be so difficult to let it all go and let anxiety resolve itself. There seems to be NO useful purpose in holding on to pain. But I am learning this. I will strive and continue to find the inner work I need to do to find peace of mind….. body and soul. Thank you for reading and your insights. They are beautiful

I watched this video earlier today, and although I though the advice was good, I brushed it off and didn't feel like it really helped my in my current situation. Just now, I have realised a way to solve my dilemma and it occurred to me that I found a win-win solution, so I had to come back and say thank you so much for making this video, I brushed it off initially, but in the end it helped me tremendously. I wasn't expecting that! Thanks again ❤

It's been hard to come to terms with my decision and perhaps I don't feel quite at peace yet.
