On the verge of tears for how much I miss the 80s. The synth on this cuts right through and I'm saddened that we will never have the moments before social media and internet again. Part of humanity died when it took over.... those that never knew those days will at least be spared the awful pain of nostalgia and longing....

Frankly the current era is one where many unsavoury things are going on with all kind of characters on planet.

This song was designed to sound as futuristic and computerized as possible in the early 80's, but by modern standards it's practically soulful.

The massive synth solo in the final couple minutes has been burned into my memory since this tune was first released. It has been for ~40 years and it always will be. A simple part, but...WOW. How did they even agree on it? It makes the song too long for Top Ten garbage radio. Incredible. Unforgettable.

I played the Hell out of this song.

OMG, 1983-- I was STONE COLD in love with this little girl, but too shy & tongue tied to tell her. I felt sorry for myself and wore this song OUT.... I eventually did tell her how I felt. It didn't work out. To this day (2018), we're both happily married to other people and remain friends.

Same year for me 1983. Back in a time when our parents would drop us kids off at the park with a wad of cash to be frugal with and set a time in the late evening for a scheduled pick up. I was in love with a girl from school and we were at Astroworld in Houston in 1983 and Flock of Seagulls was playing at the amphitheater and they had been playing so many Flock of Seagull songs throughout the day into the evening around the park getting everyone pumped up for the actual concert. She had her friends and I was with mine and we were all girl chasing but we each had our 'girl' in mind that we had crushes on...same with the girls. And once my crush and I had some alone time getting some soda and flirting so freaking awkwardly at the age of 13 we finally kissed. It was right before the concert started. It was twilight outside and we had a nice hidden spot to kiss while the cool breeze of the evening whisped all around us...and this exact song Wishing was playing. It was so surreal I'll never forget it and to this day this song takes me back to that innocence of puppy love and friendships that only a true "Goonie" of the age would understand. Long live the 80's and long live the lasting most excellent memories trapped forever in time. Love to you all!! ❤💯

This song rocked my world when I first heard it @ #'s and Rich's dance clubs in Houston, Texas.... Still sends chills through my body.. It encapsulated what was happening in my life ( and I'm sure many other people's) lives at that time in 1983...

listening to this at high volume sitting in the backseat, my father driving, 90s summertime. indeed some magic.

Even though this was my parent’s era this song in particular holds a special place in my heart. It is one of the first songs I can ever remember hearing other then random Van Halen songs. The melody is something I’ve never found in any other song in my opinion.I cannot begin to count the amount of time I fell to sleep with this song playing in the car from a mixed CD. I have said CD to this day. The amount of peace that washes over me whenever I hear this song is indescribable.

If your feeling sad about a time gone by just close your eyes and remember where you were when you heard this song. For me it's the summer time after a night out at the clubs. It's 2 or 3 am and I'm driving home with the window down blasting this song on the highway. Very few cars around and I am blazing fast and loving it. Nothing can take this away from me. My memory, my time and I loved it.

This one was one of my favorite 80s radio songs from when I was a kid. I remember listening to Casey Kasem every week. I remember thinking it jumped a bunch of notches on the week that it actually fell out of the countdown. I was pretty bummed when it got far enough that I realized it was impossible for it to have jumped all the way into the top ten. It's probably more memorable than 2/3rds of the tracks that were in the top 40 the week it fell out.

My absolute favourite track of the 1980s. The drone sounding guitar from 7min29sec makes me melt all the time, could play all day! The only other tracks that come near this for me are Depeche Mode extended mix for Never Let Me Down Again and the extended mix of Soft Cell for Tainted Love.
