Lyrics
I walk along the avenue
I never thought I'd meet a girl like you
Meet a girl like you
With auburn hair and tawny eyes
The kind of eyes that hypnotize me through
Hypnotize me through
And I ran
I ran so far away
I just ran
I ran all night and day
I couldn't get away
A cloud appears above your head
A beam of light comes shining down on you
Shining down on you
The cloud is moving nearer still
Aurora Borealis comes in view
Aurora comes in view
And I ran
I ran so far away
I just ran
I ran all night and day
I couldn't get away
Reached out a hand to touch your face
You're slowly disappearing from my view
Appearing from my view
Reached out a hand to try again
I'm floating in a beam of light with you
A beam of light with you
And I ran
I ran so far away
I just ran
I ran all night and day
And I ran
I ran so far away
I just ran
I couldn't get away
A Flock Of Seagulls lineup:

Jesus, it's been 41 years since I first watched them on MTV. It's crazy how 41 years just flashed by. Man, the 80's, what a time to be alive. No matter how much our society has gone down the drain, I'll always have my memories of the 80's. If I had only one wish, I'd wish that my life could be put on repeat from 1978 - 1989 and live there forever. Those were the magic years for me. I lived them, I loved them, I miss them.

I love This band since 1983 the Roland synth my favorite.
A classic rock and roll song 🎸
A sound and guitar sound for eternity. Not much can compete with that!!! I would describe myself as a rock & pop veteran of the 70's and 80's. Here's a tip: Golden Earring "Kill Me (Ce Soir)" - also very underrated.
Brings back childhood memories for sure!

Incredible creation!!! this song is perfect!! a great charge of energy! I love it and love them!!!
From the looks of the lead singer I'd say they should rename the song to "I walked (a very short distance)" because I don't think he could run anywhere no matter how hard he tried.

The band has gone through several formations since 1982, there were reunions with the original line-up, but it never went forward because of fights, which was the same thing that kept them apart, nowadays they are only the vocalist of the original line-up, but the band it is more united today than it was then.

Nobody in the comments seems to have noticed that the guitarist is from another legendary (in Canada) 80's new wave band as well. That's Gordon Deppe, lead singer of the band The Spoons (Nova Heart, Romantic Traffic etc..) They never broke outside of Canada, but were huge in Canada, as big as Flock of Seagulls themselves were. It's always strange to see these mash-ups of 80's bands doing the Casino tours always with a couple of original members mixed together.

@@michaelsuder486 _"even though the original guitarist died young..."_ ??? Are you talking about Paul Reynolds? If so, Paul Reynolds is still alive and yes, the guitar *_DOES_* sound terrible. This guy plays sloppy, out of time and can't even be bothered to adjust the timing on his echo/delay pedal to sound accurate. Sounds as if he barely learned the song 5 minutes before going onstage from some poorly played KZread cover video.
