He literally all seems them equally...IE Puppets, Lower-5 was manipulated by Muzan, SPOILERS: Muzan had no actual care for Rui because Rui was weak, the only connection he had for Rui was attained due to Rui's body situation matching his own, above that though Muzan sees himself as a God, he literally threatens to just kill all the Upper-ranks at the Upper-Moon meeting and thinks sometimes he doesn't know why he keeps them around, He doesn't have favorites he simply has preferences, don't confuse that for having favorites in Muzan's eyes all the Moons are just tools, Akaza is a nice suitable hammer that he prefers to utilize against the Hashira but he by no means is a "favorite" Hell Muzan preferred Nakime because her Blood-demon art created the Infinity Castle and he didn't even hesitate to destroy her when he deemed it necessary. @@TheMadhatter1313

Things I will never get over: Zenitsu’s neutral speaking voice being so DEEP. When it’s his internal monologue or when he’s sleep-fighting it sounds like a totally different person. Also how absolutely SWOLE all three boys look while training. It’s crazy.

Seeing Akaza, who was just toying with Rengoku, cower in front of Muzan in a child form is another great display of his power. He's so above every demon power wise it's not even possible for them to challenge him.

If your wondering how Muzan was able to figure out about what happened with Akaza, he is able to see whatever his demons see thanks to the concentration of his blood in them. Thanks to his Blood, he can read their minds, and kill them in an instant. Only demons under Muzan's control is applicable to these things, but demons like Nezuko, Tamayo, and Yushiro, are not because they are not under Muzan's influence/control. This explains why Enmu was confused why Muzan didn't kill the traitor Nezuko, because she broke out of his control and he can't insta kill her now, even though she has his blood.

About Rengoku's father, his story has already been revealed: basically he was the former Flame Hashira. He wanted to create a safe world for his wife and children. His wife, Rengoku's mom, became sick and passed away. This caused him to grow angry and became a drunkyard, because, as he said:" everything is meaningless. Why do demons, who are scum, a plague upon humanity, get to live on forever while my wife had to die so young?". He is a depressed old man who couldn't deal with his wife's death. Does that excuse his abusive behavior? No, obviously, but it make you sympathize with him at least a bit.

So we've reached the point where the confusion between fire and flame breathing comes in. The Japanese word for flame they use here is 炎honou. But the word for fire is 火 (hi, pronounced like he in English), while the word for sun is 日 also pronounced as hi in this instance. Basically, there is no fire breathing, it came about as a result of not being able to differentiate in the original Japanese.

So uh, the true reason for the other forms derived from sun breathing. Sun was a flawless form, however it was too difficult to learn, so students were educated to alter the form to make it easier for them to use, thats why the other breathing styles were made.

I think Flame breathing should not be referred to as "fire" because fire and sun have the same pronuntiation in Japanese. There are written differently but both are "hi". So if you called flame fire, it would sound as if you were saying sun. They are probably strict to avoid an overlap. So instead of fire it gets to be flame to avoid the confusion.

Sound breathing is a specialization of Thunder Breathing

There needs to be a "Kanao Out of Her Shell Counter"

I actually had a concept for "sun breathing" before the anime mentioned it by name just after the hashira were introduced. It was supposed to be an alternate form of flame breathing but it had technique names like "solar flare" and "stellar prominence".

In Japanese etiquette, don't self-aggrandize about yourself, family members, etc. Modesty is a virtue in Japan, even to the point of self-deprecation. "Tooting one’s own horn" is frowned upon, as is praising one’s own colleagues, family, etc. So when Japanese do this, they're just trying to be modest. Don't worry about it. 😁

Why was akaza suffering when talking to Muzan? Recall that all demons have Muzan's blood, with the air pressure that Muzan sent, altered the cells of his own blood inside Akaza's body, that caused Akaza to bleed internally. That shows the level that Muzan has.

Flame and fire breathing are the same thing. Flame is fire, so there are only fire/flame breathing and sun breathing. Sun breathing is nothing like fire breathing.

16:14 To be fair in Japanese Hi no kami Kagura is written ヒノカミ神楽 but ヒ can be interpreted as either 日 (Sun) or 火 (Fire). Also and this is purely speculation but the fact that Sun breathing is the original source makes sense due to it being the one thing that demon's fear most. In addition the Hana fuda design is the most well known depiction of the sun in Japan.

Not a spoiler The reason for his fathers depressive state is due to 2 things 1. The passing of his wife which is a given 2. He spent his life training to become a hashira like his forefathers, eventually accomplishing his goal but then realised all his accomplishments were sub-par in comparison to the original breathing technique. This caused him to be doubtful of his own capabilities and he reflected that on to his children

If you can remember, Shinobu said that you can never call flame breathing as fire breathing. Thats because the kanji for fire 火 is read as HI (hee). The same as the kanji for the sun 日 HI. As the sun breathing is called HI NO KOKYUU, fire breathing had to be called 炎 (flame) HONOO NO KOKYUU. Do you guys remember what the real of Tanjiro's subcontious and his spiritual core looked like in the movie? And the little beings living there? 😉

In regards to flame vs fire breathing, Shinobu said to not call it fire breathing because the word he was using for fire was "hino", like hinokami. Hino does mean fire, but can also mean sun depending on context. Tanjiro was told to not use hino because he would be referring to sun breathing and not flame breathing. So there is no fire breathing, it's called hino kyoku which can mean either one. There's no linguistic equivalent in english to create this confusion for the characters, so it results in confusion for dub watchers instead.
