Todd Neiss is a prominent figure known for his research on Bigfoot. His interest in this elusive creature was sparked by his own alleged sighting during a military training exercise in the forests of the Pacific Northwest in the early 1990s. This experience transformed him from a skeptic into an avid researcher and advocate for the existence of Bigfoot. This interview was shot nine months after Todd's initial interview in June of 2020. We had more questions and Todd had more answers.
Neiss is also the co-founder of the American Primate Conservancy, an organization dedicated to the study, preservation, and education regarding primates, including the purported Bigfoot. The conservancy aims to protect these creatures and their habitat through scientific research and public education, advocating for recognizing Bigfoot as a species needing protection.
Throughout his career, Neiss has conducted numerous field investigations, collected eyewitness accounts, and collaborated with other researchers in the field of cryptozoology. He is known for his methodical and scientific approach to the study of Bigfoot, emphasizing the importance of evidence-based research and the use of modern technology in gathering data.
In addition to his fieldwork, Todd Neiss frequently participates in conferences, podcasts, and interviews, sharing his knowledge and experiences with a broader audience. He also advocates for the respectful and ethical treatment of all primates, including those yet to be recognized by mainstream science.
Despite the skepticism surrounding the subject of Bigfoot, Neiss remains committed to his quest for evidence and understanding, driven by his personal encounter and a deep curiosity about the natural world. His work continues to inspire both believers and skeptics alike, contributing to the ongoing dialogue and exploration of the mysteries that lie in the uncharted territories of our planet.

I don’t believe they should be studied, but I do believe they should be acknowledged, respected, protected, and left alone- in that order. We don’t want a repeat of what we did to the native Americans. A little research into the actual history of what we did to them would tell you why. We pushed them to the outskirts on tiny pieces of mostly unusable land, forcibly indoctrinating them to the point of abuse and murder into our ways of society and much of their home, people and culture was lost. Do you think it’s a coincidence that only one percent of the population today in this country are native Americans? My point is, we (the United States) are cutting down an average of 6k acres of forest DAILY. Not only is that terrible for our environment, it’s terrible for our breathing capabilities and detrimental to the Sasquatch people (assuming they do indeed exist), whose habitat is, for the most part, forest. Doesn’t anyone else wonder why we’ve been seeing more of them? Reports of sightings are on the rise. Maybe they’re trying to tell us something. The only way some of the greed in this world is going to listen is if we have definitive proof. No bodies. We don’t need a dead one. There has to be another way. But we need to find a way to pressure and convince the powers that be into protecting them and their forests. One way some of us can help indirectly is by purchasing furniture and other wood based products secondhand or by using alternate materials, but that’s only a sliver of what would be required.

I do not have enough experience to form an opinion as to what these creatures are but I would like to share something that I experienced. In Oconee County South Carolina last year I heard what I will call a drum roll. It was very close and happened at around one am . I immediately used the process of elimination and knew that this did not come from any animal that I know we have here. I did research this and looked at possibilities and found no answer. A few months later I was simply relaxing and scrolling through KZread shorts and I came across a video of a Gorilla that was in a zoo somewhere. I was not researching Sasquatch at all, just watching random videos. This large Gorilla sat back on his haunches and he tapped his chest with both index fingers. The cadence was this Tonka Tonka Tonka Tonk . Identical to the cadence of the drum roll that I heard months earlier. Identical!

Him completely dismissing the "woo" is why he'll most likely never have another experience or get any of the answers he seeks. He doesnt even understand what he's trying to "protect" nor does it seem like he wants to. Strictly approaching this topic scientifically sure hasnt gotten us very far in the last 50 or so years and he seems like he's actually taking a more luck based approach anyway. Was I just insanely lucky to have experiences my first 6 times actively looking for them this last fall? I believe the key is learning to respectfully and meaningfully connect with them but I've realized many in this field dont actually want to connect with them, many are afraid of them and continue to peddle and push that fear to others. Imagine some guy came to your house, he's probably carrying a gun, isn't very respectful, puts off feelings of fear towards you, and tries to only document and observe you "scientifically" without attempting any forms of communication outside mostly screaming and banging on things. How likely are you to ever want to connect with this person? What they want should be taken into consideration and when I go back to my spot this summer, I'm gonna ask if they even want or need any kind of protection. They know a lot more about us than we do them and there's obviously a reason why they choose to remain so hidden and elusive from us.

@@Jeremya74 everytime I went something happened, at least wood knocks every time, some were very loud and close, some in response to questions, but I also heard vocals, various animal mimicry, a very loud crash that was possibly a tree being pushed or a large rock thrown from up higher, footsteps/movement/branches snapping, possibly some smaller rock throws, and definitely heard a large stick thrown where I could hear the velocity and whoosh of the throw and then it loudly crashing into three different things. Also had a big bite or strip taken out of an apple I gifted. This 1-2 mile stretch of road is absolutely littered with every kind of known Sasquatch structure, some of the trees also grow in crazy almost Dr Sues-esque styles and I wonder if they had a hand in that. It's basically a valley road between two small mountains, very thick with trees in some areas, gradually or steeply slopes upwards on each side, some spots are always fairly dark and don't ever seem to get sunlight. There's only one way in and it ends in this large open meadow that used to be an old mine. It's honestly such a perfect spot for them to not be seen or warn others of people coming and growing up it's always just had an odd or eery feeling to it. I took a lot of video, audio, and pictures while there but there's a lot to go through and I'm not sure how I want to edit it all together. One very odd thing is that there's 3 pictures that I didn't take, they could have went off in my hand but I've analyzed them a lot and shown others and they don't match up to any of the areas I was at or match the pictures that come before and after or that I even know about up there. There's one with two very large trees, rounder than almost anything I've seen there and it looks like possibly some kind of dark figure between them. Then there's a different large meadow that's all green (the one I mentioned on that road was all yellow and dead and is the only one I know about), the skies are blue but there's one long streak that's a completely different light colored blue and you can see what looks like 2 different figures in the background, one of them you can see that the shade is effecting it, like it's not just some weird camera mess up. There's other odd stuff in them but it's pretty weird and I can't explain it.

Since Bigfoot are always looking to make new friends, the "leave it alone" mantra is incompatible with the Bigfoot's state of being. Bigfoot frequently give us an IQ test in the forest or in the night, in order to determine whether we recognize the noises that they make and then, to read out minds as we recognize those noises. And then, they make the decision as to whether to continue playing their little noise games with us. In the 60's, the FBI estimated the US population of Bigfoot at 1 million, because they then knew that they were paranormal, and thus invisible when man is around. And then there are the many little forest people, who also are paranormal and even more interested in following us around on our daily chores, or ride shotgun in our cars.

I know two people who reported seeing them, one a published neuroscientist; I've also listened to numerous first hand observations from Native American people. You had me until you said we should establish a park where they can be relocated and studied, although some might wander away. If you truly believe BF is a hominid, would you advocate for doing this with some Amazonian tribes, to relocate them into a park for study? How can BF be truly studied if it's contained in a controlled environment? You stated that your interest is to study them from a biological point of view only, while disparaging what you called "woo woo" information. Deliberately disregarding the many paranormal encounters reported where the creature was seen to disappear at will, cloak itself in invisibility, was there one minute and then literally gone, and is often seen in conjunction with UFO's, ISN'T scientific. Picking and choosing information that validates your beliefs is the opposite of science. I would encourage you not to disregard the paranormal reports, because those may lead us to even greater understanding of our world as a whole. I wanted to hear your perspective of BF being related to Gigantopithecus in some way, but was disappointed when you discounted any connection without explanation. Since all we have of this 'extinct' species are bones, do we really know what it was? Do we know if it had language as reported with BF, or behaved in similar ways BF has been seen doing? Could it walk upright? Communicate telepathically and disappear at will? Create real structures finely woven together? It is highly probable our government has found a body or two and understands this Being much better than we believe. The last thing we should want is for any governmental control over them. You say you often hear people saying, "Leave them alone." Well, you can add me to that caategory.

I think the biggest agreement is that nobody knows. I am Native American and I believe that with regards to a “safe place” they may already have some and these are the land of the native reservations. Even elk and deer know to head to the reservations during hunting season because they are safer there. I believe also that at times of the year, the Sasquatch may follow the elk herd. But what if these were also the giants spoken about in scripture. What if they can travel through different dimensions and it is more spiritual. If they are some hybrid of a fallen angel then we may need to rethink this thing. I do know, we are in the last days spoken of in scripture. If you go through the last book, they could also be part of the group that Jesus banishes for eternity along with satan and his followers. My hope, is that they are just another species sharing the earth with us and all the other animals.

hi Yoko. Did you listen to Henrys talk on this series? damn. he actually says some live underground east of Portland in magma pools that are very hot. He also says that he is known for a video of playing his drum for them in a pattern of 6, for some reason they like this; he played patterns 3 6's. Dude. did you just say 666 with a straight face? How about that lake of fire? how about their warped perverse sense of humour ; that First Nations people said were tricksters - and to ignore them- not even speak of them. leave them alone. Isn't it creepy as F* that they follow people home >? Im not religious bro- but seems to me some of us are naive as F* and are playing with fire. The real aspect of all of this is not what they are, but rather what WE are !? I've followed a lot of material from Sasquatch Chronicle and here.... and have often thought that people have an encounter with their own fear , or subconscious when they encounter Sasquatch. There is a mirror effect where people think that the facts of the event are telling the story about ''them''... but what if its exactly the opposite?? Its US looking at our deep primordial subconscious? Fear. Awe. or somewhere in between >?

I use to be all in on the Gigantopithecus theory and roll my eyes at the Woo angle. However, I'm now starting to look at the Woo angle more seriously, but if we want to convince other people of the existence of Sasquatch, we must squelch the Woo talk. It's kind of like training for a marathon, you don't start out with 20-mile long runs, you have to work up to that point. People have to come to this Woo thing on their own, don't force, don't even talk about it. There are plenty of "normal" encounters out there to get people interested.

Most Native Americans wouldn’t harm their Relatives, Big Foot, the protection comes those who see them as animals.

Former President Obama put Native Americans in a Trust which I believe is working to protect. Also, Native Americans, The Iroquois Confederacy, were part of our framers for the United States Constitution. (Research The Iroquois Confederacy. Very interesting!).
