    Great play through Tom! Finally treated myself to a copy of this and have been struggling with direction in the solo game. Watching this and hearing your thought process was extremely enlightening. Great work as always.

    Wow, 7 years ago! And I finally got around to watch the playthrough after getting CREAMED in a solo play the other day. Now to learn how to do better in the game! :D

    Really nice video, although it is a bit "shaky cam". Nice to see the solo version being played.

    Thank you for the playthrough, Tom! I have been back and forth on this game. I love Rosenberg's games, but they rarely get to the table. I am still undecided on this one.

    Hi Stasia! I do wonder how often I'll be able to get multiplayer games going myself too but for now solo is definitely keeping me entertained

    Truthfully, I love thematic, Ameritrash games because of the flavor and what you do usually makes sense. Lately, Euro games have been having a renaissance with me because the game play is so strong and solid. What happens when you mix the two? Uwe Rosenberg. I so strongly want to like his games, but they are always so complex, involved, and utterly confusing to me. It always confounded me why they were so popular since they were hugely epic in theme and so abstracted! It's like learning all the tax laws. That is, until your videos. I get it now! I kept hearing how these are great games, but I never understood why (mainly because the rules and complexity would have me glossy-eyed with my thumb in my mouth). You've opened my eyes by simply doing a full, methodical, concise play through. Thank you! Not just with Mr. Rosenberg, but even with games like Lorenzo Il Magnifico. I watched Rahdo's run through of it and thought, "okay, interesting." Then I saw the full majesty of that game with your full play through and its on my "I want this!" list. Great job!

    Thanks! I love well implemented themes in Euro games so I'm glad it came across in the videos

    I love how for americans its a difficult decision to buy a heavy euro and bring them to the table. I'm german and we play nothing but euros. I once bought king of new york and my family looked at me like what is this and didn't get into it at all. Interesting how different cultures view one thing so differently.

    5 of my all-time favorites are a mix of Euros and Ameritrash. Battlestar Galactica, Orleans, Cosmic Encounter, Russian Railroads, and Pillars of the Earth. Heavy Euros don't bother me, like I so desperately want Kanban, though it's been very hard to find which is why I don't own it. It's simple the phenomenon known as Uwe Rosenberg that confuses me.

    Thank you for creating such great videos, Slickerdrips! Between Colonists, Caverna, and this game, which do you enjoy playing solo the most? In what order would you rank them as far as ease of learning ? Thanks again!

    I've only played Caverna once two players so I can't speak for that, but I played a lot of Odin when I got it, a lot of the solo challenges. Caverna is probably easiest to learn, then Odin, then Colonists

    So I lving playing solo games at the minute especially Agricola and I want to get another Rosenberg game to play solo. Do you think a FfO is a good idea or something else lighter? I was looking at the Gates of Loyang or Le Havre but the former doesn't seem to be in stock?

  • @slickerdrips

    @slickerdrips

    Le Havre is great, but it lost a lot playing it solo for me (I did a video on that one too if you want to take a look) - Loyang would probably be your best bet but yeah, sadly it seems it's out of print for now. Odin is fantastic solo, but has a kind of hurdle in getting to know the actions before you start. Have you looked at Glass Road? That's another great Uwe game that works really well solo too

    I've only played Arle twice I think, and I prefer Odin - I've played it 3 times 2 player and maybe 5/6 more times solo already
