That's the best sounding bass of all those that you've installed tone monster preamps.

That bass has a nice tone. Those Aguilar pickups and the tone monster preamp sounds like a winning combination.

Sounds great. I have this bass, it's a 2004 MIJ. It's an awesome bass. I still have the original electrics but have been thinking about upgrading. This is certainly worth considering. Cheers

I replaced an Audere JZ3 pre with this same exact Tone Monster pre and the Tone Monster pisses all over the Audere in every way! The "right" preamp matters, 😆 Thanks Johnny, Sha Da Ka Ka!! 👊🏾

That Marcus Miller sound was always best with those DR strings (Fatbeams MM Signature) for the first 2 weeks after putting the strings on. Just something about those DR's.

Yes I'm sure it's the best sounding bass ever thanks to Marcus Miller for making this bass in Japan, but I have the Sire sounds all that too. Sometimes that's a lie to say it's the player and not the instrument, I just say it takes both talent and skills to play bass.

Do all Tone Monster preamps only come with split shafts? I would like to retain my 6mm Fender knobs but, Shadda kaka, I need a Tone Monster!! That bass has got the sauce for sure!

I have the 5 string American version have had it more than 10 years, I did have to change the pups and pre a few times it now has a Bart pre and Aggie NC pups but my only issue with it is my B and E string sounds a lil muffled in bass tone not as clear as it was before I changed the electronics or maybe my ear has evolved some lol, but the change was made years ago different combos but the current combo is what I like but need to know if the B and E string should have that muffled bass tone.

They all come pre wired so there's no extra work involved, it just depends on what the customer/you request. I opted for the one w/active/passive push/pull, a passive tone control, and a 3 way mids mini toggle.

Hey JLong, a guy is telling me he can change/improve the sound of my bass just by changing the resistors and capacitors in the existing preamp. Do you buy that? I know you've been doing this for a while and just wanted to hear if that's some snake oil.
