Druidry, at its core, is about becomig one with the power of the trees, attaining the ability to regenerate like trees do in spring, live thousands of years like trees, connect with the heavens and the underworlds like trees. Therefore you have druid oaks! You are meant to communicate with the oak. Become it`s human extension. Not "worship it". But this film has a good spirit and is well-made, it works.

I have become friends with a druid i met at work after standing up for him when he was getting ganged up and bullied because some staff find him odd and because we share a interest in ancient cultures and myths. I don't even understand why he was bullied, he's a friendly person who skips his coffee break to feed birds, sit out in nature and chats about his goddess Brigantia (don't know if im spelling this correctly) that is associated with some rivers. A very pleasant and completely harmess guy. Really loved the video btw.

Watching this I had two reactions. Firstly some of the prayers said are things I've written down before without ever hearing them. 'Guardians of the north I summon and stir you up'. And second thought - I'm neither posh nor goth enough to hang out with these folk and tell them that at this time of the year the song of the geese, at early morning are an echo of what they are at other times of the year. Most gardeners follow the migration of insects and animals and the hopefulness of plants and trees - and we learn from committing to not harming either. Druidry is a posh affectation to us. That said - walk humbly upon the earth - harm none and don't set traps for the mice in your home - they will leave in late spring and you will miss them.

@@Lost_Histories Not sure if you will see this or if this is the appropriate forum but can I ask what the value of ritual and ceremony is for you? For me it just seems like taking the vast spaciousness, magic, cruelty and poetry of the natural world and dressing it unwillingly in drag. (nothing wrong with drag if you are willing!) I know tone can be tricky when sending text so I want to be clear that I am really glad there are druids and people like you out there in the world.

@@voxquivive3303 I have been a Christian druid for 22 years and have never involved any living being in my rituals without that living being's consent. In fact, I would say the difference between druidry and witchcraft is that witches aim to impose their will on the world and druids aim to align their will with the world. Druidry is also a path of truth. No drag required. We face the world as it is. I have to say that nothing in nature is cruel, only necessary. The only creature that takes pleasure in inflicting pain is a human and a deeply damaged one at that. Here is a bit from a ritual I performed one Beltane. I hope it explains my approach to ritual: From Beltane 2001: Pledge to the Land. I belong to the land. I shall not do harm to it I shall not betray it I shall not ignore it. My blood is not more precious than the water, My bones are not more precious than the rocks, My breath is not more precious than the air. May my life sustain the land that sustains me. I will be a friend to the Earth And all living things on it. I will be as quick to give as to receive. I will help others who want to help the Earth. My hands will be ready to work, my heart to love. Every day I will do one thing to help the land.

Watching this made me think that I have been very close to druidry for most of my life. Not a tree hugger but i sit out under trees and try to feel the tree and become one with it. Unfortunately in my later days I am slightly disabled and can no longer walk too good so climbing Glastonbury and Mam Tors are now off the menu but visits to Stonehenge and Avebury are still on the cards. In September I have a long weekend at Glastonbury and just may take a trip out from there, to Stanton Drew.

@@Lost_Histories. I think I’m learning that we aren’t always reliving Our Own past lives; rather that we might be, as the nature of our Soul Families now appears to me, sharing views of/glimpses into Related People’s/Friend’s Lines. The concept of Soul Fa,ilies has become one of the Principal focuses of my Nightly Studies, (meaning the “Graduate Work” I’m actively pursuing between the hours of 1:30-4:30 AM). Aacckk, Graduate Work sounds pretentious…. It’s just that I’m Actively engaged, VERY ACTIVELY in Traveling to different places, meeting with different entities, actively debating different topics, learning stuff, Teaching Stuff too. This is very hard to talk about…. Some people refer to it as “remembering my dreams”. Well, that’s Completely the wrong way of looking at it IMHO. As if dreams were these things that just Happen to Us, that we’re sorta Outside Observers to. That’s Certainly Not the way it is for me anyway. And I doubt very much it is for mst of the rest of us either. What do u think? BTW, I’m quite enjoying your Clearly Monumental Work. I have been slowly aligning myself with what I feel to be 'my' druidic path for a decade or more now, the pull to 'listen to the trees and the bones of the earth' getting very strong after the death of my wife. I have not delved into the literature of OBOD as I wanted to be sure that I found my own 'voice' in this philosophy before I learned the thoughts of others. But given that, at certain points in watching this, I found myself gripped by strong emotions, then perhaps it is time to open that door.

The day when ritualists will learn their lines and stand in circle without scripts will be the day we truly honour the druidic teachings of developing the faculty of memory. We cannot drop into the internal states required for magic when we are engaging consciously with a book/page of lines. Once memorised, the spirit of inspiration can flow. This is when ritual moves from "performance" to actual ceremony that affects the inner planes.

@helenwood8482 and even less about reading lines out of a ritual book. BUT, sometimes, in a tradition, lines are learned verbatim because then they carry power through the momentum of time. Yogis reciting scripture from ancient Sanskrit texts know the power of passing down oral lore. In fact, druidry WAS about memorizing long poems and verses verbatum, to keep accurate history alive. There is a time for speaking from the heart, but traditions are kept alive through the momentum of certain sacred texts and verses.

Scientist .. ? You study magnetic fields ? Air pressure, atmospheric pressure ? Sound harmonics ? Testing animal/human behavior through control groups ? You could drop a few hundred dollars in ghost hunting equipment and test basic localize energy fields. Other than buying books covering thirty or forty years covering traditional or Asian rock gardens along with Wicca/witchcraft books on earth/crystal magic you can watch youtube of people talking about Earth/stone magic. What is the mental/physiological effect that people go through being around small rock garden water fall features. You can even buy small tabletop water fountain as relaxation devices to calm your nerves, which is said ploy marketing advertisement. Take multiple readings of a room and back yard energy fields, then put a stone garden in the yard or house follow with another reading. Then do multiple prayer rituals follow with other energy field tests. Just do not tell half the people walking through that you are doing .. pagan .. rituals to test their mood. 2.) Back in the 1990's my dad was an automotive technician along with playing electric guitars and had current reading test devices. Which even worked on humans. We were also into football/ruby, martial arts, power lifting, and marathon woodland running, so we pushed ourselves through multiple levels of energy output readings. Along with testing out what different current trees and types of rock were around our forest and fields. In short, the equipment was very lacking as to what has been developed in the past ten years. b.) If you have a free-standing tree in your yard, test out its fields, then build a stone circle ring around the base of the tree as seen with flower emplacements, and test the energy field readings again. Two trees are best, one tree just to put together a quick yard decoration flower garden. Then second you say a prayer along with scratching or stone drill a rune marker or spell onto the stone as a magic blessing. It can take close to a month to engrave each stone with whatever rune markers you want, then place each stone with a ritual prayer creating the ring/ magic circle around the tree base. After wards you can ask a few groups of people how they feel after a few minutes standing near the trees. My view we are or should say scientist engineers are just barely creating equipment to test energy fields. Magic/ ghost hunting is like Nasa finding planets with the orbital telescopes, it is all about technological grow and social awareness. 1980's , " Earth is the only planet and our solar system is so .. special." protestant Christians with their overly needy emotion state Needing to be special in the world in God's eye, along with the nonsense of the Satanic Panic. My Southern Baptist Church back in 1980's boycotted Star Trek cause the show promoted evolution and life on other worlds. That church promoted paddling children for even talking about other worlds existing. 1990's, " We might find a few gas giants in nearby solar systems." 2010's + , " We are finding gas giants all over the place, there might be alien life out there." Hope you are having a good weekend, and G*D bless.
