Sky blue amidst the cloudy British weather - experience probably the last few miles on British soil with the Mercedes-Benz 600, once driven by Elvis Presley. On the 6th December, 'the sovereign' will be auctioned at the auction house Bonhams. We took a spin with the current owner Eric Smith and he told us of the unique history of the car and the legend of the King.

A timeless automotive piece, with a stunning colour combo fit for a king.
What a delightful film, and a delightful man who is a true enthusiast. This is an example of a great car falling into the right hands, which doesn't always happen. The gentleman's comments on old cars and old trains is so apt. And that exhaust note! Delicious!
Very nice car. I used to live pretty close to the Elvis Presley birthplace.
What a splendid video, and the gentleman is right: they should be maintained, used and enjoyed. I had a 600, and despite being horrifyingly expensive to run and maintain, it was fabulous. I miss that delicious exhaust note - my reason for watching this delightful video repeatedly.

Correct! The Mercedes-Benz 600 was equipped with a V8 engine with a displacement of 5 litres. 😉

Great car; I think George Harrison had two! (he bought one for himself, and then bought John Lennon's when John moved to the US). Just one thing though; wasn't the engine displacement 6.3 litres instead of 5 litres?
