A Disappearing "Work From Home" Desk

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video I go through my desk setup and what I do to make working from home easy when living in a micro apartment.
The best thing about this desk setup is that in total it cost just over £70!

The folding hinges are really inspiring. I’ve been looking for a good way to create a fold-away table/desk for me. I’m in a wheelchair and I need the table to be a perfect height for me to be able to park below it. And I also need there to be no support beam in the way, which most foldable tables have. These hinges solve these problems! Thanks for the inspiration!

I really appreciate your approach to minimalism because it’s practical and not pretentious. Been working from home for the past few days due to quarantine and this is giving me a lot of great ideas. I’d really like to see your take on tech and cable management, because honestly, as an aspiring minimalist, cable clutter is my worst nightmare. Thanks for the great tips.

This is really neat, especially the peg-board for all essential desk items. I guess my struggle is the need for an ergonomic chair with decent back support (always seem to be massive!), and my love of a desk that can transition between sitting and standing. The principles here are great, and the folding is fantastic...thank you for sharing!

I mean that’s great and all, but I’ve been thinking about how to make an even more functional surface that tucks away but when it’s open to have maybe a sliding keyboard tray underneath, or maybe it would flips upwards and holds some items while it’s up against the wall. The pegboard idea works for me though!

New to your videos and love how you’ve utilised your small spaces! Please do a minimalist tech video (I feel like tech needs to be constantly upgraded and in the process I’ve accumulated so much tech that I’ve hardly used and I dont know what to do with and feel overwhelmed by tech that I feel like it’s become cluttered and stressful rather than useful). Also a minimalist money video - have ended with loads of different bank accounts and cards for different purposes and it’s become very stressful!) Ps you may be the female version of one the earliest minimalist YT’ers ‘Cocobylight’ - LOVED her content, she inspired me to start creating a minimalist lifestyle, unfortunately she stopped YT sometime ago and it actually broke my heart. So glad to have accidents found you!!!

My current set up is in our storage room with a folding table. We are de cluttering small areas at a time. I would love to have this set up in an interior wall of of apartments as the walls with windows are made of plaster. I think we putting our 20 inch tv on an arm would allow up to rotate as needed, while at the same time using it as a monitor and probably a permanent home for our SNES.

You inspired me to create this desk setup, and I’d like to know if you anchored the foldable-hinges onto drywall, or studs. I’m trying with the drywall, and I can’t see this holding up the desk. So im not even going to place the second in.

Hey Daniel! I'm setting up one just like yours since I think it is just great! I just have one question and hope you can help me hehe.. based on the link to the tabletop, I can see that you used a 100cmx60cm one. Would you have chosen the 120cmx60cm instead? I'm currently having that dilemma since I love to have enough space when at desk, but again, I'm not sure if the 120cm one would look kind of "oversized" even when I have enough room space. Thanks for your advise!!

Do you do anything with that chair after you fold the table? Do you have another table for eating nearby where you put it or something? I am asking because it doesn't really matter in my opinion if you have a normal table in that space with the chair tucked under it or just the chair. The space economy is minimal.
