A Desert Sailboat?
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Let's test out my welding skills! We're making a land yacht - a sailboat with wheels that goes 45mph in the desert. Built with my friend Blake at Noisebridge in San Francisco, California. And then we take it sailing out in the desert at El Mirage dry lake.

Hey Scotty, I reckon you probably could have made 3-4 videos out of this one and it must have taken at-least a couple of days for just 22 minutes of content. I don't know about everybody else but I think if you were to post shorter 5-10 minute videos showing the build process and then one longer video upon completion with a compilation or key steps for the previous videos this would yield more content and I'd probably watch all of those videos too.

Its incredible that a channel with 8 videos has almost half a Mill subs ! And honestly you really deserve it Scotty , this is a great under-explored genre on KZread and you do a great job of presenting it and making high quality content !

Craftsmenship is important, eventhough a person has access to a shop full of equipment they should know how to operate and this kinda work needs some experience as precision is important.

You're on to me.
You're the best KZreadr worldwide! Always creative and with a ton of work.
Please keep including the "I just fucked up" parts, they are so important to show how the journey was fraught with real hardship. They reassure people who are anxious about trying something new, convinced they'll be terrible, and says that even the most successful of us still fuck up
Wow, Blake was a lot of fun.
I love your content and im always looking forward to the next video the only thing i wanted to say please dont ever rush over your vids take your time and try to give us the best content u can (although thats just what you are doing)
You're the most *AMAZING* person, because of your individuality.
fantastic stuff Scotty, tks for sharing the adventure and process
Gosh I love these videos so much! I could just sit here and watch them all day long.
Dude i love your videos! Keep it up!!
Love this channel ! No annoying ads, 10:01 videos, drama, etc
I love how despite running into challenges in your various projects, you persevere. Keep up the good work!
I respect people who are capable like this so much. This guy seems like he can make/build anything.
Awesome! That’s been my dream for about 10 years but don’t have the skills you do. I’m 66 now and don’t see it happening. The desire is still there. Thanks for that.
another great video! Thank you for taking the time (again) to take us with you on an adventure. I enjoy the whole process you capture in your videos, the desire, the failures, the epiphanies, and compromises. very relatable to any project I have done. Again, thank you sir, keep up the great work!
Oh do I love this channel, no regular uploads but when this guy uploads it is some top-notch quality content, love it!
Another awesome video Scotty thanks
Awesome build! Would love to do that too!!
What I loved most about these videos isn't the fact that he creates something perfect. It's the process of making mistakes, attempting to fix them, and learning what he could of done better next time that really captivates me. Great job on the build!
Just my amateur view... but having a sense of adventure I feel is a virtue, or what I regard as an element to attaining a kind of enlightenment. You are on that path! You're also an inventive person with many impressive skills where you envision something and with various pieces you create and construct what you conceive of or dream of, and that's a kind of ingenious leap. You also did not want to sail alone, but you also have a kind of empathy too where you share a unique and remarkable experience with someone who would have never experienced that before, a grand magnanimous gesture. Thank you for sharing so many gifts with the world. Life is a journey and you're one on the path less taken, and a great one!
As always, wonderful demonstration of your creativity, gutsiness, enthusiasm, and collected construction skills! Also, a superb follow-up to the NoiseBridge video. So many terrific tools at your finger tips! You go, Scotty!
Your newer stuff is still really cool and fun ti watch!
Looked like a lot of fun, thanks for sharing!!
I love the video thanks, I've got a lefroy mini yacht I built in the yard still. I think I will get it going this summer. So much fun on the beach. Thanks for the inspiration
Looks like fantastic fun!!! Well done building your land yacht!!!
Your projects are always interesting

All your videos are so interesting and entertaining to watch. Usually i skip some parts of videos longer than 5 min but i watched the whole 22 min. I could watch hours of your videos! so refreshing. Quality content right there.
I love these videos, you are so talented. It's like watching artwork being made.
Always a pleasure seeing your self-made things come to life
Awesome awesome video. Planning, execution were fantastic! You reaped the rewards with an excellent adventure
This man put so much time and effort for a single video. So thats why i like his videos and subscribed him. Keep up the good work. A huge thumbs up for all your effort
Wow your editing has improved so much!!! This video was so creative! I love the incorporations of slow mos and jump cuts! Great work Scotty!

Jpeg thats what I was thinking too. I'm sure he thought of doing it, but must have decided it wasnt the best option. Maybe safety or loss of functionality somehow?

I thought that too. Either he didn't think of it (I've done that more than once) or more likely there was some reason he didn't think it would work or didn't like it.

I'm glad that you don't just show the best parts of the builds, too many people do that. I love that you show your mistakes, explain what happened, and what you're going to do to try to fix it. I find those parts the most interesting.

Absolutely love this channel! Videos are all different, all very interesting. This is what KZread is really for!
You’re like the coolest guy I’ve never met! I love the variety of the stuff you post, ever since the first building of the iPhone I’ve been hooked, keep up the work, I envy your lifestyle.
The Lake Lefroy Mini! I'm in the process of building one too and it's been handy flicking through this vid for little details. For the steering I went with the 90 degree cut on the spine then weld brackets on for the steering shaft socket since I figured it'd be easier than cutting the angle directly into the spine... still got it crooked though.
Another masterpiece... I just love your videos man, great job
Awesome, very detailed and educational vedio, keep up the great work 👍
You are so cool, thank you for sharing your amazing story
This man is a legend!! Pure love bro
Congratulations on your success!
Great video scotty keep it up man!!!
You have 9 videos and half a million subscribers! This is pretty impressive, I think it shows how entertaining your videos are. Thanks 😀
fantastic video!
Good job!!!
Hey Scotty, loved this video. Keep up the good work!
You're really just an inspiration for me to go and do things. I've always wanted to build things that I see, and from the build-your-own-iphone video to this, you just plan it and make things happen. Your content is really cool, and presented really well, man. I'm a loyal subscribbler.
Freaking love this channel. It's half learning amazing things and half seeing amazing places. Keep up the good work!
Wow beautifully done. Very impressive content!
Oh man that's a hell lot of work!! Thumbs up excellent bro.
Great video!
Great video !! really entertaining and interesting
Little tip for next time dude.. if you can't mill out the pin to fit the bush, drill the bush to fit the pin.. just reem out the bush with some emmory paper when your done drilling and it'll be nice and smooth..
Great content man, keep it up!
This is awesome man!
Can't wait to see your tv show. 🤙🏻
interesting hack space ~~ it have almost every possible needed tools dang ~~~ wish my town have such beautiful place.
Awesome video
Awsome vid man love your channel
That is so rad to see. I used to ride ATVs in that lakebed with my dad in the 90s. Shorter drive for me though since I’m in SoCal. Tons of car commercials and music videos were filmed there.
Awesome !!!
Great job dude - inspired
So epic, was not expecting such a great story. Keep it up! ok
Top tip for future fabrications, you can make sure everything is aligned when tacking it using a spirit level on the different faces and surfaces. also tack as much of it up first without full welds then if something needs adjusting it makes life so much easier.
Love the video. Keep it up. 👍🏻
Dude. 100% of your videos are golden. This is definitely one of my favorite KZread channels.
another great video..keep it up..
totally awesome
Definitely my favourite channel on youtube
