I hear what you are saying;-), however, personally believe it is not about the quantity [i.e. years] but about the quality. 8 years to prepare for mariage there is nothing wrong with that. People are more focus on GETTING a ring instead of taking all the time they need to prepare for something that is supposed to last forever. There is no wrong or right amount of time to date when you Trust God, whether you have to wait 5- 10 - 15 years, you will always get quality.

I remember that in an episode of The Real Tamera said that Adam wanted or could've proposed sooner but she wanted a long term comitted relationship that ran for a longer period of time. Plus they also broke up in between and that added another year of dating. I think everybody is different and God provides to each and everyone differently as it fits to the person.

NO Loni its punishment for a woman to let a stranger inside of her and then later he refuses to call , text or see her. Now the woman feels like something been taken from her.

You feel that way because you set expectations on men. You dont do that when meeting someone, you just go with the flow. Nothing was taken from you, you had sex and both of you enjoyed yourselves. Stop acting like sex is a one way thing only the man enjoys. If you didnt want to have sex tell him right then and there so he knows you're not consenting. A guy doesnt have to call or text you after having sex its called hooking up, you both relieve some stress from the sex and go back to your lives. If you're looking for a relationship, look elsewhere not the club, party, bar and not tinder either. Find ppl who are done with their hoe phase and wanna settle down, there are millions of them. Also work on yourself physically, you seem like a bigger girl based off of your profile photo. You have to understand overweight or obesity is not a desired trait when someone is looking for a potential mate thats just the way it is pretty much in every country in the world. You have to realize the guy that slept with you has options, if you wanna be on the top of those options of most guys, max your looks theres nothing wrong with that. Overall sex is beautiful and is natural, celibacy and not putting out will just drive guys away it will NOT make guys wait for you. They will just go to the millions of girls that have sex and you will be sexually frustrated and miserable

Abstaining from sex does not have to be an "oppression". For me, Its a liberation from all the drama and consequences that sex may bring. I really wish this convo could've been even longer to hear everyone's POV. What ppl don't seem to understand is that celibacy is FOR YOU!!! Punish yoself? Why is celibacy looked at like a punishment? It's about discipling yourself so you can really see a person's character before you give them a very valuable part of you. Dang. La la la I am definitely not sexually frustrated. A person who is truly dedicated to celibacy has done research on how to tame the sex drive if they need to. And you can't possibly think that women whether they keep themselves up or not are having any trouble "getting any" I mean I'm no fool, yes I know that there are men who are willing to be celibate but I also know that alot of men are not a challenge sexually, so if I wanted some, I could literally walk outside my door and find a man willing to give it to me. Its sad but true. My vagina is one of the most valuable things to me because contrary wo popular belief, women tend to get more emotionally connected to men when they have sex, so sex can also be connected to your heart and mind depending on who you are sleeping with. Not only that, your vagina IS apart of your body. You know the only body you get? the one that can be filled with stds if you choose to have reckless sexual encounters with any and everybody. Condoms do not protect you from everything. You cant think u can do any and every reckless thing u want to without consequence. As fly as we are as humans, we are not invincible. We do still get sick, die and experience many other hardships due to being reckless or from simply being human.

I think it just depends on the person. If you are waiting for commitment to have sex then yes waiting until the right person is a good idea. If you just want to know how serious the relationship is before having sex then you can wait 90 days or 90 minutes, it just depends on the connection/chemistry.

It’s so hard for people to understand that you don’t have to be a slave to your own desires. If my wishes lead me to a life I don’t want, I rather train myself to wish for something better. I have to be real, February marks 2 years of celibacy for me and I've been loving it. I'm so in tune with my emotions, and body now. I'm not waiting til marriage but I've had the most successful years of my life recently and I think only focusing on myself has been a big factor. At this point I understand what I want, and I'm not willing to settle. It's not a lifestyle for everyone, but for me it's dope. I seem to be attracting better men as well, my energy is totally different now.

There are men out there who are celibate til marriage. Ive met them. Not only that, but on Adrienne's old reality show, there was a guy who she went on a date with that was celibate til marriage and she looked at him like he was crazy. Ive been celibate 2 years now. No, it isn't an easy journey but it's definitely is worth it. There's nothing wrong with us. No, it isn't self punishment and it feels good to not worry about soul ties or possible disease or getting put out when they done with you. And the men who are also on the same journey aren't GAY! I see people say that comment alot and it isn't true .

Agreed, anything to find actual love is a risk. I agree to follow your gut. The rule doesn't just come with not having sex ofc there are principles. It's not to be a punishment but an actually desire not to have sex so you feel comfortable whether or not it works out, understanding that if you see it's not for you b4 the days are over you drop it. I personally take it as a lifestyle cause I'm demisexual. Thinking of something as a rule makes it less effective but it's not for everyone. I dont believe Loni and never had. The 'hit it and quit it' mentality is bad for the spirit. Once you get unconnected to your own body, it gets downhill from there. So she’s right. I experienced the guy who saw breaking me as a challenge and did so and bounced after wining and dining me and trying to have me believe he was a man that respected my purity. Well I exited that situation with an STI and found out he had been sleeping with many women with the intention of “trapping “ them with a baby. I happened to be the lucky girl who didn’t get pregnant. I say all this to say waiting is great, but if you’re going to wait go ALL the way. After that experience I recommitted myself to waiting until MARRIAGE not jut waiting until the one (because let’s face it our feelings can have us believing false realities of who the one is) and 3 years later I married the one after waiting to kiss and have sex until marriage. He wanted me for me and nothing else. SO. WORTH. THE . WAIT.

I agree with Loni. Self-discipline doesn’t mean no sex. To be grown and approach relationships maturely is self-discipline in itself!

YES AMARA you are an amazing role model in this day and age. Disciplining yourself in that area is a true test and becomes a testimony. We should encourage everyone to be celibate because it shows you if you are interested in a person besides the physical part. I have started again in my celibacy journey and it is the best decision of my life. I can now focus on other areas of a relationship that we need to last until the end of days

In these days, you have to really pray for discernment with who you date . That’s what I’m doing & being celibate has been the best thing for me .💕 I know my worth & feel so empowered sex is very powerful and you can’t just give your body to just anyone . What happened to women being a challenge ? Don’t waste your time giving it to someone who doesn’t even see a future with you or even marriage . That’s my view of it . It’s not for everyone . ✊🏽💕

Just remember that as a virgin you can ways go and lose it, but once you do you can never turn back. Lose it when you are ready mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Whatever works for people I guess but I agree more with Loni, it doesn’t really matter. If it’s meant to be it’s meant to be. I waited 8 months with one guy, he was really patient, than the relationship ended before we hit one year. With my guy now it only took 2 weeks and now we have 2 kids and have been together for 10 years 🤷‍♀️

90 day rule is so true. i learned this lesson the hard way which im sure alot of other woman have as well. and the truth is you will see the true colors come out of a person within 3months in my experience. and it is better to wait not just for intimacy with the person but also becoming boyfriend and girlfriend.

Yes young ladies wait please wait I'm talking from experience it makes so much of a difference when you wait until marriage. It builds up the foundation of your relationship so much stronger, if the guys says he's going to leave because you won't give it up guess what he just told you the reason he's in a relationship with you for SEX not commitment or marriage. So then I have to ask you a question. What is the purpose of marriage? What do you do in a marriage? You are able to have sex and have made a vow to spend the rest of your lives with each other in a "God honoring" covenant. So the only real difference between marriage and non marriage is the ability to have sex and making contracts and covenants. Now with that being said, do you think a man is with you not to eventually have sex? A man is not there to be just your best friend, he's there to get his dick wet and Christian woman can't acknowledge this. You say he's ONLY there for this, when in reality it's a lot closer to, "Hey, I want you badly, but ultimately I need this thing to be satisfied in a relationship, which a man does, and if I'm not getting it at some point I gotta go". In the same way women want a man's time , energy and investment. His provision and his security. And if you're not getting that eventually you have no reason to stick around. It's an exchange. It's a standard. I expect you to give me this thing and you expect this. And if you don't meet it we can't hang. No man is trying to get married or be long term just to feel safe or comfortable, as the woman does. We gotta be honest here.
