A December 31 Everest Attempt to Bookend the Year

Спорт

Ted started 2021 by riding 200 miles the entire length of the state of Vermont. And he wrapped up the year with this mega ride, his first ever Everest on the hallowed Wes White Hill in his hometown of Richmond, Vermont.
Snow, rain, freezing temperatures, fog, darkness, exhaustion (and boredom?) all stand in his way of completion. Can he do it before the clock strikes midnight and it becomes January 1, 2022?

Most people attempt an Everest when the weather is half decent; Ted isn't most people - this is majorly hardcore! Fabulous!!

Everesting is incredibly impressive. Everesting in those conditions is even more impressive. Everesting in those conditions and being in such good spirits throughout is inconceivable. Chapeau, Ted - very well done!

It says something when so many people who Everest bring TWO Garmins because they just know they can’t depend on just one… even though they’ve been making the things since 1990

Yeah, the everesting was awesome and all that, but I felt the kinship and hit subscribe when you geeked out about your gearing and changing your own bearings. I love riding but feel just as challenged by the wrenching. Changed by first wheel bearings several years ago and I think I actually found perpetual motion!! Thanks for the video.

That softshell looks rather rad, is it a mustard/custard in natural lighting but quite luminous (or even reflective) in direct lights or is that just a quirk of the camera light leveling? I'm moderately sure I'm not mixing up shots in the rain jacket and softshell...

  • @TedKing1

I love Velocio for any number of reasons. The fact that their clothes are a tasteful high-vis is very helpful. Yes, that softshell is something of a mustard color. I don't think there's a formal reflective nature to it, but there are small reflective accents. It's terrific.
